My aunt is at Holiday Lake Shore Commons. I like everything about the facility. It's clean. It's safe for her. The community is very nice and accommodating. All of the employees that I've met seemed to be reliable and respectful. Overall, I like the whole place. The staff working there are focused and supportive. I ate with my aunt a few days ago, so I liked the food. My aunt is very picky, so some things she likes, and other things she does not like, but it was enjoyable for me. What my family likes the most is the fact that she has three meals provided, so she doesn't have to be concerned about cooking herself. They also have games and bingo. She can go for walks, and we feel that the surrounding areas are safe for her to do that. They also have bus trips, so they go to Walmart. I like everything they have to offer and the environment.

I visited my mom at Holiday Lake Shore Commons. She is there currently. The intake person is amazing. She helped us on every level from the tour to getting into the community, and she was amazing. The staff is decent. There's a load of activities. They have everything from live entertainment to spelling bees to ice cream socials. They have bingo, outings, and all sorts of things. However, it's very expensive, sometimes the transportation is spotty, and sometimes the food isn't very desirable. The customer service is awful, too. My mom has had a couple of incidents, and the staff was not good at all.

My mother will be moving into Holiday Lake Shore Commons. The place seemed very cheerful and very bright. The rooms were very nice, clean, and neat. Peggy, the lady who assisted me, was very nice and helpful. The menu looked pretty nice, and the dining area looked very nice being a big open space. It was one of the first things that you see when you walk into the main entrance. They had a little gym, exercise classes, chair exercises, bingo nights, and trivia nights.

I visited this facility

I have toured Holiday Lake Shore Commons. The rooms are dreadfully small. They didn't have a liquor license, so there was no happy hour and there weren't as many social activities. I like the location best, but I liked the room size the least. What I would recommend is that they have bigger rooms. That would be my recommendation, that they create bigger rooms. The staff member who toured us around was very lovely. The facility and the amenities are hard to put together because the amenities were OK, but the facility was too small. I saw five communities, and I saw that one first, and I didn't like it. In terms of the upkeep, it needed a fresh coat of paint. With regards to location, the hospital is within walking distance of it, which is one of the things that attracted me to it in the first place. There are a number of places you could eat at nearby, but they're more fast-food type than anything else.

I thought Holiday Lake Shore Commons was very nice. They have a lot of community activities so there are a lot of social activities. There are people there throughout the day, so they have someone to help them if they need it. Everything's included there including the housekeeping and they get three meals a day. It was very nice for us, it was just a little bit outside of our price range. Other than that, it was a very nice community. I only met one staff member because it was late in the afternoon and most of the staff went home, but he was very friendly and seemed to be very kind to the residents there. They have bingo and other activities where they take the residents on outings, there was a pool table, libraries, there was a gym, and a lot of different social areas for people to gather and socialize. They have a garden, it wasn't an impressive garden but there was a place where you could walk outside, and patios so you could sit out in the front.

My mom has moved to Holiday Lake Shore Commons. The experience was a little stressful at first but she's starting to relax and get to know people and she seems okay. We chose this place because it's in her price range, and the place is clean and friendly. So far, the staff has tried to help me in every way they can. Her room there is nice and clean and larger than the one she was in before. Their dining area also seemed nice and clean. They have activities and she's participating in some of them. The food seemed all right because she has not complained.

Holiday Lake Shore Commons is a delightful facility. The cafeteria, the open area, the grounds, and the walking paths to the lake are all very nice. It's very conveniently located near the hospital and the buildings look very nice. The rooms are kept in good condition. So, the maintenance is very responsive. I have experienced the food and it's good enough and my mom seems to like it. It's a very inviting place. Their activity schedule is just not as good as the others. In my opinion, they don't do a lot of outside activities. I've seen their calendar and they only do two or three outings a month compared to once or twice a week from another facility. So, that's significant. Another thing is they only have one elevator in the building and it malfunctions quite often. They went six weeks without it at all last year. They had a very hard time getting it repaired. They maintained everything else very well. It's just that the elevator was out of service for a long time. Then three months ago, they lost their bus driver and they've had five bus drivers since. They've had an extremely hard time providing transportation for the last three months now. They seem to have one now, but I don't know how long that person will stay employed.

The Holiday Lake Shore Commons was centrally located. It was close to medical facilities, and the hospital was actually within walking distance along with many doctor offices and dentists. Our doctor's office and our dentist were actually within walking distance. There's a Starbucks and a Walgreens within walking distance too, so that aspect of it was very nice. The rooms were very nice and they were more spacious than I would have expected. They have very nice balconies, nice decor, and were easy to navigate with the way it was set up. It was very accessible for wheelchairs, walkers, or vision problems. They had washers and dryers and a beauty salon on the premises with a hairdresser. We even saw a lady getting her hair done during our tour. They had buses to take you where you needed to go like cultural activities, movies, or just go shopping at Wal-Mart or something. They had activity rooms, and we saw people doing exercise activities. It looked very adequate there. The rooms had microwaves. If you wanted to bake something, there was a stove down a room that had an oven where you could make anything, if you went to bake a cake or something like that. The facility was not as new as the other one we saw, but I would say that it's very well-maintained and very clean. It's a secluded location, but it's close to everything. You really never know it was there unless you were looking for it. It's secluded that way. It's really also just a 5-minute walk from everything, so it's very nice. There's even a lake in the back of it, which is probably what the name might imply.

The tour at Lake Shore Commons was very good. Andy gave us the tour and he was very thorough. It was independent living and I thought the rooms were very nice. I only saw one or two of the workers, one of them was vacuuming and it looked like she was doing a very good job. I didn't see many people. There was nothing going on when we were there. They have a library and different rooms where they play games like cards and so forth. The few people that we talked to were very friendly but I thought it was very quiet. Outside, what we saw was mostly kind of hilly but one part that was leveled was their walking area. I know they have some outings and trips to grocery stores like Walmart. I didn't see many activities but it was probably an off day. The place was very nice though and I had a good impression of it.

My cousin moved into Lake Shore Commons. We liked the amenities. My cousin had a friend from childhood living there, so that was a big thing. She had someone there she knew already. They have activities. They have a chapel and a hair salon. Everything was clean. I had breakfast with her, and the food was good. Her apartment is phenomenal. She has a bathroom, and it's huge. The apartment is a great layout. It has a separate bedroom, separate living room, and a balcony. So she gets to move around and have some freedom. The leasing manager was nice enough to come to the hospital and fill out the paperwork with my cousin. She's very helpful.

Lake Shore Commons is more independent living. It's called "age in place." It's one of those that have services for you after you're in. It's independent, and then you just pay for the services that you need. It's a much older property, but it's well maintained. The director is phenomenal. She spent a lot of time with my husband and me. She showed us all the different properties that were available: the cottages, the 2-bedrooms, and 1-bedroom. She had us eat in the dining room, and the dining staff there was friendly. The food was good, and the place was very clean. The only drawback I saw (and that was just for me because I'm in my 60s) was that there were just a lot of old people. My parents are in their 80s and 90s. The main thing I liked about it was my mother's 85 and still loves to cook, and they have full kitchens on each floor. She can go in and cook even though she doesn't have the facilities in her apartment. If I can convince them to do anything, it's because it's close to my house and I want them closer to me right now. Debbie, the one that toured with us, was very good. Also, I've been to different places up in Northern Virginia. I just loved the homey feel and the family feel that was in this place. They have a library, a beauty salon, a game room, and a TV room. They have laundry and individual kitchens. People can have their family in and cook for them. They also have individual dining rooms on each floor that the family could go and bring food in.

Lake Shore Common was light and bright. We only dealt with one person, and she was fine. We had to reschedule this appointment, and there was a little glitch in the communication. It appeared to be very clean when we were there. The residents seemed to be happy and friendly. Everything seemed positive. I saw a bulletin board, where it showed they do Bible studies. They also had a TV room and a gym. They have various things going on.

I had a wonderful tour in Lake Shore Commons. The gal, Tinesha, was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. She sat with me for quite a while and we discussed a lot of options. I was very, very pleased with the property and Tinesha was very professional. It was a beautiful, immaculately clean, and very well decorated place. It had a very beautiful setting right along the lake. It was very, very pretty. I couldn't ask for anything nicer.

Lake Shore Commons is lovely. Everything seems first-rate, very welcoming, and immaculate. My wife and I were enormously impressed by everything we saw. We only saw one staff person there, but they were was wonderful. The facility seemed to be scrupulously clean and well-maintained. We saw their dining area, which looks lovely. We're obviously impressed with everything we've met so far.

Lake Shore Commons was very nice. The staff was exceptionally good there. The amount of attention to detail, as far as what my friend's needs were, was really above and beyond. The facility is a little bit older, but very well-maintained. We had no issues with anything looking on the interior outdated or not well-maintained. The rooms were very nice. They had a model that my friend liked very much inside the facility. They had, in a separate building, single floor suites, that were a little bit bigger, but the idea of walking across the parking lot to get his meals and stuff regardless of weather was something he was not interested in. It was independent living to start with, but they had sort of menu of other services. It basically was age in place, so if you got to where you needed the equivalent of full-blown nursing care, you would have to pay for those services a la carte. They have the people in contract with them, nurses and aides, that would come to your unit and treat you essentially the same as if you were in full nursing care. The staff said the only thing they didn't offer was memory care. It's in a nice location with walking paths and just nice, natural surroundings. They actually treated us to a lunch there, and it was restaurant style. You order off a menu, and it was very nice. We were very pleased with it.

I would rate Lake Shore Commons a 5. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The salesperson was running late because of the traffic, so they had somebody else go ahead and start me on the tour. The apartments I saw were very nice and spacious. I think they would be perfectly fine. Everything was very nice. The staff showed me a one-bedroom and a studio on the first floor. They're very nice on the first floor with a patio to be able to walk out onto a walking trail. The view of the woods is very nice, instead of just a parking lot or something. It was independent living, but they also have lots of companies that you can hire to come in and do extras (like caregiving or medication control). The layout is fine. It's an older building, but they did an updating inside. The inside is actually a little nicer than the other one because it has just been recently updated.

I went to look at Lake Shore Commons. The woman that I toured with was very nice and efficient. She showed me everything, and she was very pleasant and had good people skills. She showed me an independent living apartment that was something that I would have been interested in, but we're not ready at this point. The place was very clean and well maintained. The lighting in the dining area was fine, the tables were placed so that there was social distance, and so it was following the guidelines. It felt at home and the staff was very friendly.

The staff of Lake Shore Commons was nice enough. It was just that the environment felt like a nursing home. The apartments were very outdated and very small too. It had a very old feeling to it. I only walked past the dining area, and it just looked like a cafeteria. They do bingo, and there is an event calendar with few of the other things they do.

My aunt is moving into Lake Shore Commons this Saturday. It's very positive. Everyone is very friendly, the place is clean, and they have been welcoming. I'm curious to see how it will be when she actually arrives, but so far so good. They're very clean. I like the fact that they had a number of staff available, and they're very responsive. The facilities are a little dated, but all very clean and nice. The activities rock! They have bingo every day, they have Bible studies, and they have the best activities out of all the communities where she has lived.

My mother has been living in Lake Shore Commons for almost two years now. It's very pleasing and adequate. We have eaten there many times, and the food is good. The personnel is very friendly and adequate. The staff is great, very attentive, and very accommodating. She has a studio apartment with a little balcony, and it's very conveniently located. She does well there. They keep it very clean, and they've had no COVID at all. It's very attractively landscaped and very nice. It's older, but it's very well maintained, so there's no problem with it.

Lake Shore Commons is independent living but that's not what I need. I need assisted living. Well, it was really nice and really good. Debra was great. The rooms were good and nice size. As far as I can remember, amenities were available, too. I saw the dining area and it was rather elegant.

I toured Lake Shore Commons. I enjoyed the tour, it was very comprehensive, and I liked the look of the community, however, it's not the right fit for my dad. We looked at a 1-bedroom, and a couple of studios, so there's a large variety of sizes to choose from, and they appeared to be in good condition and bright. It looked like a nice place to live. The staff was very friendly, even the people not participating in the tour were very welcoming, and seemed to be very friendly with the residents.

Lake Shore Commons is independent living and we're paying extra for medication to be given to my mother-in-law. It's lovely, not brand new but it's kept up, it's clean, and there's no odor. The staff has worked there a long time and is like family. They are the most friendly and outgoing and so are the residents. My mother-in-law looked pretty happy there. They have a nice variety of activities and the food is very good. They have musical entertainment, events like parties for St. Patrick's Day and Valentine's Day, classes, outings to restaurants, and a bus takes them to doctor's appointments or picking up prescriptions. It's very affordable, but it depends on the apartment that you selected. She is in the bottom floor, which has a patio, a living room, a bedroom, a kitchenette, and a good sized bathroom. The residents are more with it and not slumped over in wheelchairs. They're interacting and participating.

Provider Response

Lake Shore Commons is an excellent place for seniors to live. I especially like the south side of the building where you can exit from your apartment into the grass on the outside area. There's also a patio. I like that you're not boxed in, you can just open the door and step outside. It's a pretty nice place to me. I couldn't see anything wrong with it. What hit me the most would probably be the price. The people working there seemed great, and the staff was excellent. The facilities are good, they're probably a lot more than you need. The buildings are almost like houses, they're large, there's convenience in getting around, and you get a pretty good sized apartment.

We visited Lake Shore Commons. The meal that we had was very nutritious and the staff members were very caring. It was a good area, and the grounds were very well maintained. The rooms that we toured were very nice, well appointed, very clean, and maintained. They had a Veterans Day service to honor the veterans, and if the residents were the widows of veterans, they were recognized as well. They had a band there that afternoon.

My dad is at a place called Lake Shore Commons. It is a nice-looking place. There is a lake right behind it. The staff is really good. It’s independent living, and if my dad was able to take advantage of it, it would be wonderful for him. They have bingo just about everyday, and they have a card room. He has been there for about a year and a half now, and I have gotten to know a lot of the staff there. They’re really good folks. The food is good. The activities that they provide and the support for the residents are outstanding really. They are really top of the line. I wish my dad was able to take advantage of the many things there. For my dad, it is not just a good fit, but they provide so much there.

Our visit at Lake Shore Commons was excellent. The facility was very nice. We liked that they offered different types of rooms and seemed very willing to accomodate adding services as needed as the residents aged. They had places to do jigsaw puzzles and some exercise equipment in an actual exercise room. The staff was very helpful and seemed very knowledgeable. What stood out was the fact that it was near a lake that had a walking trail around the lake. I thought my father-in-law would really like that and the idea that you could age-in-place.

I visited Lakeshore Commons. The people were wonderful. Every person I met there was wonderful. They were trying to work with me very hard to get me in to one of their studio apartments. The rooms were nice. The studio was what I saw, and it was spacious enough to have a living room with a pull out bed. It had a little kitchenette with everything you needed. There was a laundry facility. There was a fine dining, and it was just awesome. There was a grand piano in the dining room. I played the piano, so that really intrigues me. I loved it. I would recommend it to somebody who had the money.

My cousin is in Lake Shore Commons. The staff is very helpful in the transition. When my cousin arrived there and his furniture was not there yet, they put him in the guest room, which is a very nice, beautiful place. They have a basket in there for him with different things, and I think that is nice. When he moved to his original room, they also had another kind of basket there with some goodies in it, which I think it is nice, and the people there seems nice. They can give pills, showers, and all of that. I think that they are very helpful, it is a very pretty place, and they seem to have a lot of activities not that my cousin partakes in a lot of them. I am pleased, and he seems happy there.
