"We talked to the folks at Brookdale Hickory Northeast, and they seemed very happy. It was a smaller community, so everybody knew everybody. It is a more personal and close-knit community. I've been to several others, and this one was pretty nice. The staff, Amy, was awesome. There was a lady who was cleaning the rooms, and she was nice, too. From what I can see, it was nice. They have activities for the seniors. They have three meals a day, and then they have snacks and coffee out during the day. They can do your laundry, or you can do your own. It is like living in an apartment and having a community laundry room, if you so opted, or you could have them do your laundry. Their food smelled very good. They do more of the southern cooking, which is more along the lines of this area. I haven't tried the food, but we were invited at any time to go up there during any meal and try it. They had a two-bedroom apartment with a small foyer in front. Each parent would have their own room with their own setting for the air conditioner or heat, whichever they prefer. They had a bathroom and everything. You can also set up a little dining area if you want to. There is room for a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. For what it was, it was nice."
