My mother-in-law is living at Brookdale Falling Creek. It worked out well. I do not have one negative thing to say. Everybody who works there is very friendly and helpful. They're always smiling, and they're so nice. This was from the very first visit up until the last visit. They're always ready to answer questions, and they're honest about how my mother-in-law is doing. The food is great. My mother-in-law is loving it. We've eaten a sandwich there a couple of times, and they're good. We have zero complaints with them. The dining area is very nice, beautiful, and really pretty. My mother-in-law's room is painted just before she moved in. It looks brand new. The room has a big triple window that takes up one whole wall, and so it is well-lit just because of that big window. The layout is perfect. It has a little kitchenette on one end, and then the living room area. She has a love seat and a recliner in there, and there's room for a little table and two bar stools, too. It's just perfect. My mother-in-law is in assisted living, but she requires the least amount of care. They are only managing her medication, otherwise, she takes care of everything else. She is self-sufficient except for needing them to manage her medication. She has played bingo, and she has been to devotions. That's all she has ventured to do so far, but they have all kinds of activities that she could do. When she meets some more people, I think she will do some of the other things. They play dominoes and games. They have an activities director who comes in and does crafts with them. They're going to plant plants outside, and she is looking for that because her thing is working in the yard. They've also told her that she can bring things she wants to put out in her little courtyard and outside her window. Brookdale Falling Creek has an enclosed courtyard that the other place does not have. My mother-in-law has a dog, and her room is right across from that courtyard, so that is also another big factor.

We've already put a deposit on my mother's room at Brookdale Falling Creek. We chose it because we thought the facility was the nicest of all that we visited. The best thing was her room. The facility was very nice, but the rooms at Brookdale stood out above the other places we visited. The staff was very friendly and informative. They had a salon. They had a little piece of equipment to do walking. They could see movies in a theater. They had rooms where they could be with family to have a meal and a place to play cards and do puzzles and that sort of thing.

Brookdale Falling Creek assisted living is centrally located in North Carolina, so it makes it easy for all of my mom's brothers and sisters to visit. We are also only about an hour and a half away. It is affordable. It is one of the least inexpensive places in central North Carolina so it's very affordable. It's also a small community. It has less than 40 residents at the facility so it's a little bit more personal.

Brookdale Falling Creek was a little homier feeling, a little less clinical feeling. They're in the middle of renovations. So those residents that are moving out, they're remodeling each of the rooms. The common areas were not remodeled yet, but they're talking about it. For the most part, it was well lit and had a lot of natural light. The staff was very good, very knowledgeable, very helpful, and took her time explaining things. We talked about the menu, looked at the menu, and just the setup of the meal-time. Brookdale Falling Creek has a large courtyard. The facility was getting a bit dated.

Brookdale Falling Creek was a nice community. It was much smaller than the other place we visited. There seemed to be less staff there, the rooms were smaller, and it's more expensive. It would have been a good property for my mother, but comparatively, it didn't measure up for us. They had a smaller courtyard and a front porch. The staff was very good, very complete and very professional.

Brookdale Falling Creek was very nice. It was probably the second choice for our parents. The overall appearance is very nice. The layout seems to work out very well as far as the flow, like everything would be kind of accommodating. It has pretty surroundings -- there is a little treed area around. The day that we were there, some of the residents were playing bingo and such. They are still having interactions, but it's limited right now. They have started having a few meals a week in their dining room, too, while keeping a six-foot distance from each other.

Brookdale Falling Creek is a nice and clean place. They have good people, but our problem was that they couldn't really provide what my mom needed. She can't get to the bathroom by herself at this point, she can't get a glass of water or anything, so she really is not assisted living material and needs 24/7 care. Not only do we have her at this community, we had to pay for hospice care and also 24/7 caregiver on top of that, so the cost was prohibitive. Brookdale Falling Creek was charging $4100 for her unit, and $2000 for care that they didn't always provide. My mom couldn't even ring the bell, so the caregiver will ring the bell, and sometimes she would have to ring it 3 times because nobody will come. So the caregiver will say that she'll just go ahead and take my mom to the bathroom, then someone from Brookdale will show up and say the caregiver can't do that because she's not allowed to touch my mother. It's a nice community, they have good people, but they're understaffed so they're not capable of taking care of all the people. When you try to get in, you have to ring the buzzer and sometimes it can be 5-10 minutes before someone comes to let you in. The same thing when you try to get out at night you can't find anybody, there's nobody there so you're waiting for 10 minutes to get out. So the staff is competent and friendly, the place is nice and immaculate, the food is good, but they're understaffed.

Interactions with head administration was not professional. Poor and unexceptionable response or followup on concerns for resident's care and safety. Some staff were qualified and performed duties but most acted like they could care less about their jobs or about the residents. Very few activities and seemed to be understaffed.

I wouldn't mind living at Brookdale Falling Creek. The residents looked very comfortable. The rooms looked very pleasant. The staff member who assisted me during my visit was very thorough in answering all of my questions.

What I love about Brookdale Falling Creek is that they have a door through which the patients cannot get out and wander off. The staff is very friendly, and the place is very clean. The food seems to be pretty good. I'm not really sure of their activities, but I know they have bingo and they take out the patients to shopping.

I have placed mom at Brookdale Falling Creek. I chose it because it is not far from my house, and she really liked the room when she moved in. They do have a lot of activities. They do have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My mother has had some health issues while she has been in there, and they really want to charge extra for every little thing they do; I am not happy about that. What is good about this place is that they have physical and occupational therapists come in to help her.

Sterling House of Hickory (Brookdale Falling Creek) was a very nice place. They offered a lot. They had an exercise room, a very nice dining room, two or three living rooms, and balconies. It was a very nice place, but it was just a little more active than what my mother is.

Sterling House of Hickory was a nice place, but it wasn’t right for my mother because it was too quiet and there was not enough activity going on. It’s very clean. The staff that I met was nice; I just didn’t get to talk to many. I was pleased, but it was just like walking into a funeral home. There was just not enough activity, but some people like that. Sterling House is only five minutes away from hospitals or clinics. There’s a grocery right near there. You're only five minutes away from anything you really need.

The staff was very kind and helpful. The living facilities were very clean, well maintained and orderly. The staff assisted my uncle greatly although he was very cocky and rude towards them. The location was very safe and my family had faith that it would be the best place for him. During the time he was there he was well-supervised in receiving his medicine, having proper meals, and receiving proper nutrients and care. One problem the family did have with the facilities is that upon arrival they removed my grandmother's medic alert necklace from my uncle, at the time it was the only thing of her's that he had been permitted to hang on to up until that moment. Unfortunately, several days after he arrived he passed away in his sleep. The staff was very quick to inform my family and they were very helpful in assisting with funeral preparations and providing comfort for the family.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. the conditions of the living areas was very clean and nice. The other residents took my grandmother under there wing even just for the visit that day. The staff gave me all the information I needed if i decided to place my grandmother there. They explained emergency procedures and who all is contacted. informed me of all certifications that the employees had there. They said they can assist my grandmother on many levels. One of the reasons I had decided to do this was my grandmother was getting forgetful she would leave the stove on or forget to take her medication. At the Sterling house of Hickory they in formed they could supervise her in taking her medication and i wouldn't have to worry about her cooking cause they had cafeteria like area. They went over everything very thoroughly this is why I chose this place for my grandmother but she passed away in her sleep that night at my home.
