"I visited countless facilities prior to choosing Gardens of Statesville for my mom. Although it was a hard decision to place mom in an Assisted Living Facility, myself along with my family decided I could no longer provide the care she needed at home mainly for her own safety. The moment I walked into the Gardens a calm came over me. After meeting with the team, (Jason, Mechelle, Cyndi, Holly) touring amazingly clean, secure facility, meeting residents and hearing their opinions and happiness in their voices, learning about the activities, enjoying the sampling of the food I knew it would be perfect! The rooms are spacious, we were even able to bring mom’s furniture so it feels like home, not institutional. The pandemic has of course put a damper on visitation, activities but the team makes every effort to engage residents in daily activities. They follow all guidelines to keep residents and themselves safe. For that I am grateful. They keep me informed via email or phone calls with anything to do with Mom or The Gardens in general. We receive a Monthly Newsletter keeping us informed on activities as well and menu which has so many options available. They even have an iPad for the team to bring to mom and FaceTime family during these tough times! If you are as undecided about bringing your loved one to an Assisted Facility like I was, you won’t even hesitate once you see love, compassion, state of art facility the Gardens of Statesville offers. "I like the Kingston Residence of Hickory. Pets are accepted. They staffed it very well, which is important. You could do your own laundry. There are nurses on site 24/7. Like the other communities, they have a van that will take you to appointments within 10 miles. Another thing I like is that, since my sister lives up in New York, if she came to visit me, she could stay over in my apartment. The smallest apartment has a kitchenette. Their menu looked quite delicious. They have monthly activities that they do. The staff was very good. The place was very nice."

"Trinity Village is under construction right now. They're building new apartments. There are no services, so it's kind of like independent living. The person who showed us around was very good. There were some residents living there. It looked like it would be very, very nice. However, there were no services, so I kind of crossed it out. They were adding more stability bars and chairs in the showers. It wasn't completed, but it looked very nice. The apartments looked very nice, too. The staff was very good at showing us around. She spent a lot of time with me."

"My mom lives in an apartment at Woodland, based on my income so I pay a low rent. I pay a lady to help take care of her. The apartment has a small kitchen, a living room, a bathroom and a bedroom. It's an energy-efficient apartment. She gets meals-on-wheels 5 times, 5 days a week. She may cook a little as long as the lady that takes care of her is there to assist her. The residents also have a once a month potluck dinner. Everybody brings a dish and goes to that. They also have an exercise room and they play bingo and the like. They have a daily devotion every once or 2 days a week. I'm really pleased with Woodland Manor. This was the most affordable one that I looked into in North Carolina. "

"GraceView Homes is the only one I'm interested in. I like the concept of it being a small facility. To me, that leaves more one-on-one time for each resident. They do not let the residents just sleep in bed all day long, which I was very glad to hear. I was glad to hear that they offer home-cooked meals of some of their favorite meals. There were just a lot of positive vibes from the whole situation and knowing that it's owned by a local pharmacist. The dining area was fine. It was right in the kitchen. I was in the common area, and the couches and chairs there were very dirty. But the rest of the place looks clean. The kitchen was clean. The driveway needs to be fixed big time. It's nothing but a washed-out gully. I have a tiny sports car, and I don't even think I would be able to get my car through that gully without doing some underneath damage. All of the staff members were just as nice, friendly, helpful, and informative as they could be."

"I decided to go with Siloam Residence for my husband. It was bigger, more open, and brighter, and they offered things that the other two didn't. Like, he'll continue with his therapy there, and they have a pharmacist that comes in. They seem to be very attuned to dementia patients. The home environment is smaller and better for dementia patients. I feel like he'll get very good care there, and he has a private room. They want me to decorate it to make him feel like he's at home before he gets there. They seem to be very caring and friendly. I really like the lady that I talked to, Hannah. It was a nice-sized facility, much bigger than the two houses that I toured. Everybody had their own room. It was still limited to six people, so it was nice. They were asking me what he likes to eat. I'm not expecting food to be an issue. They even said that I could put a small refrigerator in his room, which I'm planning on doing, so he can get drinks or whatever."

"My uncle decided to stay at Carolina Care Retirement Cottages in North Carolina. The lady that worked with us was just absolutely wonderful. She's the director. It was a very nice and very well-cared community. We were just very impressed. The physical appearance was excellent. Everything was really well-maintained. The landscaping was wonderful. It's a very friendly neighborhood for walking your dog. It's just a very nice little community. We got there after they had lunch, and it was a buffet-style lunch. My uncle got two plates to take home. He said the food was very, very good. They have their own chef. The staff explained that they go on little trips, and they have things in the clubhouse. They play bingo and have different activities. His apartment is very nice, and very friendly for the elderly. The kitchen is very well-equipped. It has nice appliances, carpeting, clean, and hardwood floors. The living area is very, very acceptable."

"My husband's parents previously lived at Bailey's Glen in Cornelius. The residents at Bailey's Glen are very active and it's a smaller community of retirees. The smaller size of the community provides more attention by staff and employees. Also, some of the residents are in their mid to late 50's, and have plenty of energy. Bailey's Glen accepts residents beginning at age 55, which is unusual for a retirement community since most begin accepting residents at 65+. Living quarters are either apartments (some have patios) or cottages. The community itself has lots of land "“ over 100 acres. Homes and apartments are nicely designed with sufficient space, rooms and appliances. Food is tasty with good variety on the menus. After much consideration, my in-laws decided to move to a retirement community in Charlotte itself, not Cornelius. This happened after my sister-in-law was relocated to downtown Charlotte for a new job. My in-laws are now living closer to their children and grandkids. We can happily recommend Bailey's Glen. It was a positive experience during the time my in-laws stayed there. "

"My father-in-law has moved into assisted living at TerraBella Lake Norman. I think it is a wonderful facility. The staff is very kind. The meals are good. It's very secure. I'm very satisfied with the quality of life there. The facility is clean as a whistle; it's beautiful. The staff is very kind in the way they administer throughout the day, whether it's in the dining room or the nurses who check on him in the room. Whether they are the front desk or the admin staff, I've had interactions with all of them, and they all seem very, very kind, which to me is very important. You can't buy empathy. Their dining program is ample. They have two dining rooms. If you don't feel like going to the dining room, they will bring it to your room. I didn't have a lot of hands-on experience with their activities. However, there is a beauty-barber area, and they have several activity areas of different sorts. There is a library and a piano in there."

"Stanley T.L.C. provides all levels of care from independent living with small apartments and optional meal plans to skilled care facilities all under one roof. My mother-in-law lived well and happily there for about 6 years before dying last year at 100 years old. The staff/guest ratio is excellent with compassionate staff and skilled caregivers in an uplifting and pleasant environment. There are multiple daily activities, stimulation, and celebrations available for guests. The facility is sparkling clean. The food was healthy and nutritious. There is wonderful spiritual support regardless of religious affiliation. The pricing of the facility was within a reasonable range of affordability. They have some Medicaid beds available for financially challenged individuals. All guests are treated equally and with respect and have individualized care.. We were blessed to be able to get a spot there for my mother-in-law and could not have been happier with the care she received in both assisted living and skilled care during her last years. We would have no reservations recommending Stanley Total Living Center to anyone. "

"I am in Rose Glen Village right now. I have been here for a year now. It's wonderful here. I love it. They take you out once a week, if you want to get on the list to go. They have a lot of outings. They have bingo. You can shoot pool and put puzzles together. They do a lot of puzzles. The activities director is wonderful. She's really good. There are activities all the time. I have a studio. They have one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and studio apartments, so they have different style rooms. I have a kitchen that I like. I just feel really comfortable here. They supply a microwave. Then if you want to get a 4-in-1 air fryer oven, you have to buy those yourself. They have a big refrigerator and quite a bit of cupboard space. Each room is different. They have some rooms where you can cook your own meals, like you have a full oven and everything. It depends on what size and what kind of appliances you want. If they don't supply, then you can buy your own. The staff are really friendly, and they joke a lot. They just make you feel like it is home. They will help you do anything that you need to do. The bus driver is really good. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, they take you to doctor's appointments, the bank, or the post office if you need to go. If you need something, you can go then. On Friday, they take you to Wal-Mart. If you need a cart to go around on, then they'll run in to get a cart for you. I have a wheelchair. If there's more than one wheelchair that's going to go, then they'll make two runs. It just depends on what our needs are and what they will do. I really like it here. I would stay here forever if I could. The food is getting better all the time. We have a young chef that is here now, and he's really, really improving the food."

"I have chosen River Rock at Dallas because it is a brand-new construction. And they have everything I need like a walk-in shower, a garage, wooden floors, and a patio. It's also one level. The rooms are very nice sized. There's a very nice community area. The landscape is nice."
