My mother will be moving into The Bernardine. It's close to where we live, so we can keep better contact with her. The facilities were being updated to look very good. They have doctors and programs for assisted living and the price was wonderful. The rooms were very spacious. It was very clean. They have pull cords. They have people that will come in to check on you. They have immediate access to medical assistance. My mother was eating the food at the rehab unit and loved it and they have the same food there. The dining area is very clean and very good. The person who gave me the tour, Max, was wonderful. Everyone has been very good.

The hallways stink of urine. Can not even get a light bulb replaced. Meals are terrible. Please if you have a choice do not bring your loved ones here !

Once your loved one gets in it’s hard to get out. The staff members are incompetent and they were very disrespectful to my mother. They treat older people like they are stupid and have no rights to their care. The doctors all stick together and don’t have a mind of their own. If I had the chance to do it all over she would have never been involved with Loretto. My mother stopped wanting to eat because she said the food was terrible

This program has gone downhill over the past several years. They now provide very little support, if any, to my loved one. No one returns phone calls. They make medication errors. My loved one has missed doctor's appointments d/t their incompetence. The staff turnover is horrendous. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Do not bring your loved one here! My Mother is there and has been for over 2 years, I have had to make numerous calls to case manger, director and nursing supervisor there. They have given her wrong medication, the aides are extremely rude to residents and reporting them, is a waste of time. When my Mom asked for a food tray, she never got it, so she went all night without eating and she is diabetic. I am looking for a place closer to me, so all of these things, WILL NEVER happen again

I liked the Bernadine. I have a friend there. They have bingo, and bring in seniors who sing very well. The area is beautiful; you can go out to sit and relax, even at night since it's safe.

My mother did arts and crafts here in Bernadine. The rooms are of a good size. But my mother didn't have a good experience in this facility. They gave her eight doses of medication on one day, and then five the next day. They didn't have accurate information amongst their employees to administer her medications properly. We didn't know that my mother had an extra bottle of insulin in the refrigerator. They should have done a shake down to make sure she didn't have anything but they didn't. They gave her insulin at night, and then she shot herself three more times. Then the next morning she was comatose. I know she did it to herself, and they didn't force it on her. But afterwards when she came back, they treated her like crap. The aide told her that she was not supposed to be there, so she went down sixteen flights of stairs without a cane. The aide should know how to take care of their people. One aide was very nice, but others were not.

Generally acceptable care except that there are 20 floors and only 2 very slow elevators. When coming to the main lobby to go upstairs to visit, we can expect at least a 10 minute wait regularly. The problem is that the elevators are small and with wheelchairs, walkers and scooters, only a couple of people can fit at a time. Definitely need to improve this. I shutter what would happen in an emergency.

Bernardine Loretto is close to my wife's work. Nothing stood out in a bad way. They're nice enough. The rooms are larger than I thought they would be. It's pretty brightened up, with nice big windows. They have a dining area on each floor. They have a bus that would take you for shopping and to medical appointments. They have standard in-house activities, too.

We were happy with The Bernardine for my mother-in-law. The rooms were nice. The staff was very conscientious and thorough. In fact, we've considered it for my own mother if it would fit my mother's needs, and we could be nearby where we live.

Because of my mom's financial situation, we needed to find a place that would accept SSI as payment, and that's one reason we chose The Bernadine. It is also the only place in our county that has apartments as opposed to having a shared room. That was very attractive because she can bring all of her stuff. They were very helpful in the application process and gave us a checklist of what we needed. They worked with us in a way that was very helpful especially for someone who wasn't familiar with how the whole thing worked. It's convenient to where I live, the staff was very helpful, and it was much easier getting this whole thing organized than I had anticipated.

I've had two family members stay at the Bernadine at Loretto. My grandmother was generally happy there as well as my great aunt. Both had minor complaints that the staff didn't show up when planned to give them showers or for other small errands. But they always had their medicine at the appropriate times. My great aunt is mostly blind and has struggled that they didn't provide additional support for her. The worst thing is that there's only two elevators and it can be really, really, really painfully slow to wait for one. Both of my family members would complain about the wait for the elevators, especially if someone was moving in and/or construction was taking up one of the elevators.
