"We toured here for my aunt, and it was very interesting. They were very informative, very informal, and very pleasant. We enjoyed meeting the staff and some of the people up there. It was nice. The one who accompanied us on our tour was very knowledgeable. She gave us all the facts that we asked for. She was very courteous and very professional. We were able to see two or three different rooms. It was of different sizes and different setups, but they're all very spacious. It was very nice, clean, and beautiful. We saw the dining area. We met the chef who is working up there, and he was a very nice young man. We didn't stay for the meal, although they offered us to stay; we didn't want to impose on them. They have reading, and there's games that they play like bingo."

"The price that Solstice Senior Living at Fairport offer was fair, compared to what we were paying at another facility. The community was very nice, very clean, and very friendly. The rooms were also very nice and larger. They got a balcony in them. They have a courtyard and gardens outside. They've got quite a few amenities. They have a nice dining room, a hairdresser, physical therapy, occupational therapy, a game room, and a theater for movie watching."

"I like Baywinde Senior Living, but people have left and gone to other places. It has about everything you could think of, it's close to a lot of shopping areas, the bay, and near an amusement park too. The staff member was very friendly and showed me around, and it looked like the activities were good. They also have a snack area with treats and coffee available. The residents there were friendly, they have a kitchen full of a variety of food, extra storage, I saw a lot of activities going on, and they also have a happy hour. They showed me a variety of rooms. I probably wouldn't want a big room because there were so many places in the community where you could go and sit. They have an ice cream shop too. The independent living is large, and there's also another building which is for assisted living."

"My friend is at Legacy at Cranberry Landing. It's close to me. They seem to be very caring, very professional, and very helpful as far as with the paperwork and getting her in and following up with me. It happened nice and quick, which is how we needed it to. So far, everything has been wonderful. They're very attentive, and there's people coming in and out all the time, so she has had no problem settling in. When I call with questions, people are very responsive, and they get right back to me no matter how silly it is. The lobby is beautiful, it's clean, and friendly, and the staff is very helpful, too. The apartments in the assisted living area are decent size, and the one she has is a one-bedroom apartment. She has been in quarantine, so she hasn't done any activities. Also I haven't been there a lot anyway, and we can only be there the day she moved in."

"My mother is doing great here. She is very happy there. It's a very comfortable place. They're active. There's nothing negative. The staff is marvelous, absolutely wonderful, helpful, caring, and watching out for her. Her room is an apartment, very warm, comfortable, and it's got great windows. The dining area is welcoming, elegant, spacious, and clean. The food is sometimes a 10, sometimes a 5."

"It looked a little newer and a little more updated. It's closer to stores, hospitals, airports, etc., so it's more convenient. They got apartments and patio homes and they were spacious and well laid out. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. We were there for lunch and the food was excellent. I liked that they could bring in outside services. They also have physical therapy onsite, a workout room, and a lot of activities on their calendars. Everything looked great. It's nice and clean."

"I like Holiday Fleming Point a lot because it's only five minutes away from Charlotte Park, but they don't have stoves, and I'm not used to living on the west side of Rochester. I live in Henrietta. It's beautiful and absolutely spotless. The layout was very communal. They have two floors, so the upper floor looks down to the dining room on the lower floor. That means there's a wide open space. It just felt spacious to me. For people who have walkers, it was easy for transporting, and also for people who have pets. It was easy to maneuver around in it as well. They had a library area, a little gym room, and a religious area. They have a nice sense of community there. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Everyone said hello when I was there. They have a nice reception room if you want privacy to talk about personal items. I saw a menu, and they serve three meals a day. They have microwaves in the rooms or a crockpot. They just didn't want to deal with fire hazards. I met several staff and everyone was friendly. You could tell they were all happily employed there, and they welcomed all the clients on a regular basis."

"We explained our situation to a social worker, and he suggested Armstrong Senior Living and another place. We like them both, but we decided to put my mother in Armstrong. It is a small place; there are only maybe 30 beds there. It is a little bit different than a lot of other senior living places. They have an independent certified nurse's aide there who takes care of their residents' needs. Basically, you can contract her for whatever you need for your loved one, whether to give medication or for housekeeping. Also, the price is reasonable. This nurse is very good. She is on top of everything, and I can talk to her. She also takes my mother to her doctor's appointment if she needs to. The help is excellent. They have been very good and very helpful with us with our mother. It also turned out that the residents are just wonderful. The moment my mom walked in, all the lady residents kind of gathered around her, and they just took her under their wing and made her feel at home. It is a very friendly community. It is not a fancy place, but it is homey. Everyone seems to take care of everybody. My mom has a room, which is small, but it is enough for her. She also has her own private bathroom. Mom is a very sociable person, and she is usually out in the public areas where everybody else is. They would play games and have someone to paint their nails and/or do their hair. So basically she uses her room for sleeping and for what she wants to do by herself. This facility serves good home-cooked meals. They are not fancy, but my mother likes it, and she eats well there. However, to me, the most important part is having friendships and knowing that she is being taken care of there. "

"Lyon's Manor is okay. It's not the greatest, but it's not bad. It is close to us, it's decent, and it's affordable for my mother. The staff is great and very nice. The residents do all kinds of different activities for each month. They figure things out together what they want to do. "

"Ashton Place Senior Living is an excellent facility. It's about 25 years old. It's in very, very good condition and the people there are wonderful, very caring, and concerned about the residents. My mother-in-law has a kitchenette, a living room, a big bathroom, and a big bedroom. All the meals can be provided. Rides can be provided. There are three different levels of care there and the highest level of care will administer medications. They will check the residents every two hours. It's a very good facility and the people are all excellent. We had food there and their menus are outstanding. They're usually at a choice of entrees for dinner and during the holidays, they put on a spread for them. They had prime rib and shrimp cocktails and all sorts of sweet things. They have many activities. My mother-in-law enjoyed playing bingo. They usually have musical concerts at least 2 or 3 times a week. They offer religious services."

"My mom moved into Vienna Gardens. The general appearance was awesome; it's very nice, they keep it extremely clean, and it's decorated beautifully. They had a lot of things for the residents to do. Everyone was really helpful, we had aides twice a day for her, and the administrator staff was just wonderful. So far, I've been extremely satisfied with the services. Seniors can live there independently, but they have modified assisted living; it just depends on what the residents need. They have crafts and games, and so far, mom has played Bingo and cards. She's starting to socialize. The dining area was very quaint, the food was really good, they had choices, and they can go and eat anytime. "

"My mother was at Parkwood Heights. It was very convenient at that time because we only had a couple of days to find a place, and they were available. The rooms were fine -- a little above average. I didn't taste the food, but my mom liked it. She was there for a week. "

"Gardens Senior Apartments was subsidized and too small for what we wanted. It was handicap-accessible, which was good, but we wanted a two-bedroom which was not available. We were above the income limit because it was subsidized. The environment was what we wanted. It was country living and about six miles from where we lived. We liked the area, but it was not ideal because it was not near the hospital. The staff was very good and very accommodating. Everything was very good. They had a nice environment, gardens, and activity rooms. They were very clean, but it was not for us."

"I'm in Farmington Gardens and I'm very happy with this facility. This is just a 55 and over apartment, but I like the safety and security they provide. It's a very clean new building and there's only 88 apartments here. Everything is new and there's great safety features in the building. It's locked down at night. It's also peaceful and quite and there's a lot of things to do here. There are a lot of activities here that you can participate in. There's not much staff here, just an office and a maintenance person. "

"I went into Quail Summit. It's hooked up with St. Anne's. It's good, I liked it and it's close by. If things work out with my wife, I can almost walk from Quail Summit to the other community where my wife is, if I have to, I could. I liked it but I can't do anything now, not yet, they understood that when I was there. I told them I couldn't do anything until I get settled up with Medicaid. They were very nice to me, real good, and I got along pretty well with them. I went into an apartment with 1-bedroom. I saw the dining room. I didn't eat anything but that was a nice dining room. I guess you gotta pay extra for your car, I liked that cause I still have a car. They're real nice, they took me and walk me around there. It's a nice place, it's good. They're real nice to me."

"We visited the independent living community of Ferris Hills at West Lake in Canandaigua. They have four or five buildings serving different purposes. The staff members were courteous, the food was very fine, and it was a little more on the modern end. It has newer units, so it's a little more up-to-date. There is a community college in town, and they would offer some of the same kinds of extras in terms of seniors taking courses there. They have a library, and they have groups coming in to sing. The size of the rooms was large. The staff members were well-trained, courteous, and welcoming. They were very good. I have tried their food and it was good. It's a well-balanced meal, nutritious and tasty."
