I would give Parkwood Heights a five for everything except that it's too expensive. As far as the building and the apartment, I think they were the best that I've looked at. Their activities aren't as great as the other one, though. It is independent living, but they can go to assisted living. The staff was very nice and very neatly dressed. They have a barber, meals, and they have a podiatrist.

We toured Parkwood Heights. We toured two separate independent living situations. They were like townhouses, but they were smaller. There was only a one-car garage in the one we saw. It's independent living, and they had enriched living, too. Lisa is the name of the girl who showed it to us. She showed us two independent living situations. The only thing is they had a one-car garage, they had no basement, and they were much smaller areas than at the other place. There was one unit that could be appealing. It's just that we live in a very large ranch right now, and to me, the space was kind of confining. The staff told us about different activities. She showed us the dining room and the main building. It seemed not as open, and it seemed like there were fewer activities at that particular place. But they have transportation, meals, housekeeping, laundry services, gourmet catering, and room service. There are all sorts of things that you can add on. Other facilities are rental, but they have patio homes, too. If you took advantage of that and bought a patio home through a realtor, you could take advantage of the services that they provide for their seniors. You could also add on those services and pay for those privately. The staff who toured us was new there, so she wasn't familiar with some of the different things there, but she was very nice.

Parkwood Heights is just what I was looking for. You can be as busy as you want to be there. They have buses that can take you to the grocery store, and they deliver meds to your home. It's very neat, clean, and comfortable.

We visited Parkwood Heights. The staff was very nice and friendly. It had a good atmosphere. The calendar of events looked interesting and included fun things to do. We tasted the food,which was very good.

My mother was at Parkwood Heights. It was very convenient at that time because we only had a couple of days to find a place, and they were available. The rooms were fine -- a little above average. I didn't taste the food, but my mom liked it. She was there for a week.

I visited this facility with my husband while searching for a facility for his mother. She was with us when we visited. We were all very impressed with this facility. It is mainly an independent facility but they do have a program which they call the "enriched program". This entriched program allows residents to stay at the facility even if they need some extra care. The rent at this place seemed quite high, but it does include 2 meals per day. A third meal is also available at an additional charge. The dining facility was very impressive with a staff of waiters and waitresses and an on-staff full time cook. The rest of the staff who we met that day were all very pleasant. There is a front desk that is staffed 24 hours per day to accommodate the needs of the residents. This particular community also featured townhouses (they called them villas) that were bigger than the apartments. The community also featured patio homes that could be purchased.
