"I found Holiday Fleming Point to be a wonderful place. The rooms would be comfortable to spend time in. They had libraries and activity rooms. They had a beautiful dining room with a fireplace, which was wonderful. They have very pleasant people who are working there. There's a beauty parlor to get your hair done. I would have a first-floor room with a small porch so that my cat could get out and wander. All the staff that we met were very, very pleasant. We had lunch. The lunch was very tasty and the woman who served us was very pleasant. I had nothing bad to say about them."

"I went to The Village at Park Crescent and saw an apartment. They have what you call a Jacuzzi bathtub, but the bathtub is not a walk-in, you have to climb over the side of the tub. The living room and dining room were kind of small for the furniture that I have, and that was it. The price was a little high. We asked if they had financial assistance, or how we could do that, and they did not have it. When I talked to my mom about it, she was like, "That's too much," and so we said no. They have activities for the whole month, where they do Wii bowling, and they go on trips. They have different kinds of activities inside. Their dining room for lunch, breakfast, and dinner was really nice. I observed the interaction between the clients and the staff, and that was beautiful. I like that they knew everyone by name, and that was beautiful for me because you need to be able to relate to people. Knowing who these people are, knowing their names, and knowing what they like is really good. Everything was all in a nice area, and it was clean. They have a walking trail, and so that was beautiful. It was just not for my mom and me."

"The Woodlands was quite nice. It was just too far away from anything like going shopping or go someplace else. The tour went well, though. The staff was very interested in us."

"My dad moved to Erie station a year ago and has made new friends. He has a great time going to activities and I’m happy he isn’t alone anymore. "

"My parents moved in three weeks ago and so far so good. They treat them in the facility so well. The great thing is that they offer an independent living lifestyle compare to the other facility that are assisted living type. An independent living lifestyle frees the mature individual from daily concerns and allows them to fully enjoy every day while they look after the details. I noticed also that they have a lot of couples so I'm pretty sure my mom & dad will be in a great place. It provides a warm and caring environment that empowers freedom of choice and fosters individuality."

"My grandmother is in here. It is very clean. Everybody is very nice and helpful. They are willing to talk to anybody who needs help. She is in a private room and it is very nice. The food is also good. They have a lot of music activities, shows and a lot of things during the holidays."

"Cherry Ridge seemed good. The apartment in the assisted living, which we needed though, was only one-bedroom. It was small and we needed more than that. They had another part of the complex that was more roomy, but it was not assisted living. The staff was very pleasant, solicitous and very well informed. The dining room looked very spacious and it seemed to be quite pleasant. "

"My grandmother stayed here and my family and I always enjoyed coming to visit. The staff were accommodating and I always felt like my grandma was respected and treated well. Plus, the food was really good! "

"We visited Legacy at Village Wood. It was very welcoming. The person that we met was really nice and tried very hard to answer our questions and accommodate my sister. They were working to make it up-to-date. The rooms were very nice and had been updated. They were nicely painted and had new carpeting. I looked at the dining area. They kept their residents active, too. "

"I toured Legacy at Clover Blossom. The girl selling me, didn't directly answer the question, what if we need more care? Well, she says you can always hire a private agency to come in and take care of you. I have to ding them because there's no upgrade. The staff were all pleasant, and they were a little more efficient. However, they were not quite as friendly as the folks at the other facility. They have a pool, they have a barbershop salon, and they have two meals a day. You get breakfast every day and either lunch or dinner, you choose."

"I visited St. Ann's Community at Chapel Oaks. It was very well done, very interesting, and more regal than the other place. It was very well taken care of. The staff was very courteous, very knowledgeable, very open and friendly, and had a very nice personality. I know several people who live there, and they said the food was excellent. The two-bedroom unit that we saw was vacant, very roomy, and very nicely laid out."

"We toured Linden Knoll. The staff was very nice, and the facility was very clean and smelled clean. It was a very nice and pleasant place. Our daughter went, and she was able to see the room, but we were not when we made our visit. The only thing that we didn't like about it was that we didn't get to actually see a room, and we've heard they're very small."

"Valley Manor is excellent. Our friends live there, and they're very happy, and that's why we looked there. It has different sizes of apartments that one can go into and that was a good thing for us because we'd like something a little larger when we're ready. We particularly liked the three-bedroom ones, and we liked that it's still within the community we have lived in for 40 years. We like that it's accessible to lots of cultural things and it's very walkable. It's an older facility, and yet they've done a nice job of keeping things in good repair and doing upgrades on balconies and such things. I liked that it has balconies that you can open up to the outside. You can be outside without leaving your private space. The staff was incredible. They were so good at remembering names and at highlighting the residents' accomplishments. One of the people I know from my church lives there. He just turned 90 and they did a big acknowledgment of him at the Eastman Theater and lots of the residents came to acknowledge him as well. I'm sure there were a lot of people who work there that were there, but one of them who was involved in admissions recognized me, knew my name, and I didn't even remember her name. I remembered her, but not her name. They are extremely good at meeting the needs of the residents and seeing the residents as complete people, including their past and their past accomplishments in their life, which I think is valuable when one is older and maybe not as capable. We have eaten there a couple of times and it's just fine. It's not outstanding, but it's been the pandemic, so it's been very hard to hire people. It has very thick concrete walls, so it's very quiet and it's easy to regulate the temperature in one's apartment. All the rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows or sliding doors out to balconies, so they're light and airy and pleasant to be in the apartments. The general area is very nice, too. The people there seemed very happy."
