We had such high hopes when we moved our loved one into Ashley Woods memory care facility. However, within two days their staff called the police and had our loved one ambulanced to the emergency department. This happened several times, each time with the emergency department saying there was no reason for our loved one to be there. Eventually, we were told by Ashley Woods' nursing staff that they were only a "social" memory care facility that wasn't equipped to deal with our loved one's needs. Not at all what we were told prior to moving them in there. It was also very difficult communicating with their nursing staff, and once we finally did, they informed us that our loved one needed the "next level of care", in their nursing home, at three times the cost. Instead, we moved them to an actual memory care facility that treats our loved one with proper respect and compassion. Since we moved them out of Ashley Woods, they are thriving again and it has been a very pleasant experience with zero problems or police calls - the exact opposite of Ashley Woods.

We have found a place for Mom. It's a new place, and it's called Ashley Woods at Penfield. It had the right combination really of everything else. Everybody offers pretty much the same amenities, but this had a good price to go along with all the amenities, and being that it's new, even though the company is doing business for a long time, it is everything we wanted. It met all the requirements that we felt we needed. The staff seemed to be very knowledgeable. A couple of people we spoke to had been in the business for years now, and they seemed very knowledgeable. Another reason is no apartment is far from an elevator, so there's never a lot of walking for any of the residents. Everything was pristine. The rooms were beautiful. They were all one-bedroom apartments that we looked at. A few were bigger just because of where they're located, but still very nice. There's a little kitchenette, a living room, and a bedroom. They have no pool, but they have all the other things. They have a salon, medical facilities, three meals a day, and a place where you can eat whenever you want.
