So anyway, The Cloisters is one of the facilities we toured. It seemed very homey and clean. It has a nice and friendly atmosphere. The staff seemed friendly and knowledgeable. We only saw one room. It was pretty nice and quite adequate. The residents seemed to be happy and contented about the place. "

"My mother is in Brentland Woods. I like that the staff is very friendly. The facility is very clean. Everyone is professional. They have exercise classes. They have people that come in and sing. They have puzzles that people work on in the activity room, and they have movies. They serve three meals a day. They have a doctor that comes in, and if she needs to be seen by somebody, they will transport her. They have a beauty salon. Someone does her laundry once a week. They clean her apartment and make her bed. She has a leak in her bathroom faucet that is taken care of. My mom wants to know if she can have an English muffin with peanut butter, and they are not serving that, but my sister speaks with somebody in the dining room, and they said they will be able to do that. "

"My aunt has moved into Woodcrest Commons. It is very clean. The staff is wonderful. My aunt is getting great care there. They take care of everything there. They do laundry, they make beds, and they give meds. It's all based on what you want for a resident. My aunt has a one-bedroom apartment. The place is huge. They have a courtyard. It's L-shaped. They have activities every day; they post a schedule. They have lunch, dinner, and breakfast accommodations every day. I highly recommend it."

"I could write a book about why Westwood Commons is the only choice when it is time to place your parent in a home. If you want your parent to have a home away from home, to be respected, to feel comfortable, loved and wanted, then Westwood Commons is your answer. I have often said this place must be what heaven is like. The entire staff is nothing short of being angels: patient, kind, considerate, helpful, encouraging, supportive and always going beyond their job description. You are always greeted with a smile as soon as you enter. Any questions or concerns are immediately resolved. Response time for the call bells is under a minute. The facility is Oder free and spotless. The staff engages the residents in fun activities: games, art field trips. They interact in the dining room assisting whenever help is needed. There is a little store where items like tissues, toothpaste and ice cream can be purchased. Residents can visit with each other in the many sitting rooms. Here you will find books, TVs and puzzles. I have walked into my mother’s room to find staff sitting and talking with her, holding her hand, comforting her. We can honestly say this was the best place EVER for our mom. She loved living at Westwood Commons. We will be forever grateful to to them for loving our mom as if she were their own mom. "

"Victor Views is beautifully decorated and very homey. The staff is very friendly, caring, and knowledgeable. My sister needed rehab after a long and severe illness and Victor Views implemented a care plan that helped her to recover quickly with the support she needed. We are very grateful for the staff and everything they have done for my sister"

"My dad and his wife lived in Cloverwood Senior Living. It was really nice. It had two or three different levels of care, and it had a separate building for people that needed following around, so they didn't walk out the doors. It had a dining facility, you could eat in or you could take your meals to your room, and you order them by the meal. It was a typical senior living facility, but it was kind of upscale. They had independent living facilities. They had their own room, and they could go down for meals. They took them shopping. It was full service. They were wonderful, clean, beautiful, well attended, and well staffed. It was a topnotch facility, and it wasn't cheap. The facility was well appointed, the food was excellent, and the staff was excellent. There wasn't anything that I would fault them for. It was well landscaped, the grass was always cut, the driveway was always shoveled, and the walks were shoveled. It was impeccable. If you are looking for something, this would be the top place you could be looking for."

"We liked Glenmere Assisted Living & Memory Care because of a couple of things. One was they had all the licenses we needed and then once a person needs to move to a nursing home level, that person would get priority at their nursing home facility. The other big factor was they'll accept Medicaid. The staff was great. They were very responsive and they had everything like all sorts of activities. They do gardening and they had a nice outdoor patio. The place seemed to have a lot of natural light. The rooms were nice and I liked the in-room ability to shower."

"We moved my mom, with mid-stage Alzheimer's, from her home to Wolk Manor. My mom, frankly, is not the easiest person in the world, but we were delighted with the care she received at Wolk. The staff was generous with their time and responsive to her needs. A couple of the staff members formed special relationships with her -- taking extra time to visit with her when able. Though Wolk is affiliate with the Jewish center in Rochester, I would not hesitate to recommend it to non-Jewish residents, provided they are religiously tolerant. However, if you are Jewish, they do have very nice (optional) Shabbat dinners and holiday "

"I'm familiar with Seabury Woods because my mother lived there. However, it is private, so we weren't able to do that for my brother. It's a very good place. My mom passed away, but she was there for years, and it was nothing but a good experience. They're all very caring. They can't do enough to help you answer questions. For a small fee you could have a meal with your loved one, and the food is good. They would have spring dinner and fall dinner. They would make the dining area fancy like a restaurant. They would go out of their way to make things special. My mom's room was like a small apartment. It had a kitchen and a fridge, which she never used. She had a living room, a nice big bathroom, and all the pull cords. They do a lot to make the residents and their family welcome. They would have a party outside where they would bring in an orchestra-type band. They would do a cookout with burgers, hot dogs, and an ice cream truck. It was really very nice. There are activities for them to do. My mom took up painting. We never knew she could paint before, and the paintings that she did were amazing. They would go out to breakfast or lunch once in a while. They have an annual picnic at the Ontario Beach Park with their sister facility. My mom loved going on the big bus, and she was happy there. If you can afford it I highly recommend it, because you get what you pay for."

"Heather Heights was absolutely beautiful. It was a "five" all the way around. From the moment you walked in, it was beautiful, and it had a big entrance. Everything was clean and organized. It was just the way you would want something to look. We got to see everything. We saw a couple of rooms, the dining facilities, and the activity room. They have lots of events going on: exercise, movies, arts and crafts, cooking, travelogues, and all the things you can find in any place like that. The only negative thing was the price is very prohibitive. The kitchen was beautiful. We got to go in the back and talk to a couple of the chefs. Everything was just great."

"St. John's Meadows is just a short distance from my home. The staff was very nice and very helpful. The fact that they are not a la carte, that is one price, was great because we didn't have to worry that if her condition deteriorated that we would have to pay more. It's a beautiful place. The rooms were very nice. You could get a 1-bedroom. They have a lot of different things. They have lectures and discussions, clubs, arts and crafts, as well as other kinds of recreation. It really felt homey. "

"My father has moved into Genesee Senior Living. We chose it because it is 10 minutes from my house. He's in their memory care unit, but they have regular assisted living, too. I like everything about it. I don't have any issues. The staff is very helpful, knowledgeable, and very caring. He's in a nice room, it's kept clean, and he has everything he needs. The atmosphere is very happy and positive. They celebrate all the holidays and they have lots of activities. I sat with him for dinner. I haven't eaten it myself, but he seems to enjoy it a lot and he raves about the food there all the time. They had them do floor bowling. They go for walks. They have arts and crafts. They have just different projects. They do baking. It's pretty modern. It's very clean. Value for money is excellent. They're very reasonable. They even said that if we come into any money problems, they're going to be willing to work with us."

"The Highlands at Pittsford is a very good facility. I would rate this place very highly. They have a variety of different kinds of apartments. They have one or two bedroom, some with more amenities than others. They have a lot of supporting activities there. "
