The physical appearance of Providence Rest Inc was very clean. The people were very professional. I was greeted very professionally. It seems like they're very organized. I was shown around, and I was pleased with what I saw. I saw some people in the eating area, and it seemed like a lot of people were eating. I saw people doing various exercises with like bands and weights. Some people were on the machine. So they offered different variations or types of exercises that would help each individual on a case-by-case basis. They were somewhat private rooms, and some were two in a room. They were able to put pictures and posters up, and they were able to make the room very personable. The rooms that had two people in there were very roomy. So there was still enough room for people to still have their privacy, even though they had a roommate. The single rooms were also very large. The staff was very nice.

Place and location beautiful. Staff are great, they stay in constant communication with families. The rehab got my Mom home sooner than expected! The Sister's provided my Mom with peace during a difficult time.

Horrible place. Rude, lazy, incompetent and insensitive staff. A lot of the meals are served cold and the aides refuse to heat it up. The CNAs and aides rarely do their job correct. The administrator is rude and disrespectful to residents and only cares about the money. He refuses to give family members an appointment to hear about problems.

OMG. If I could give this place no stars I would. Stay far away. The place is poorly run, communication is zero, no one there knows what's going on. Takes them 4 days to return calls. They never do their job correctly the first time. They're all lazy, rude and insensitive. They cost us so much more time and money all because they don't do what they're suppose to do. This place needs an entirely new staff, especially from the top down.

Many of the rooms have spectacular views of the Long Island Sound. There are either single or double rooms which are nicely appointed, clean and ergonomically designed for the needs of frail residents in the long time care as well as the rehab PT/OT residents. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable. Concerns addressed promptly. Active recreation team encourages resident participation. Providence Rest stands apart because of the wonderful serenity and dignity the Sisters of St. John the Baptist provide.

several relatives have used the short term rehab facilities. The rooms etc are very nice, the nursing staff is quite good (could be better could be worse... I'm happy). The PT/OT staff is exceptional. REALLY great folks. The Social workers are useless. Actually that may be giving them too much credit. Replacing their offices with a broom closet might be an upgrade.

we researched and visited many facilities before choosing Providence Rest. The facility is clean, neat, it does not smell of urine or feces. My mother was well cared for her by the nurses and staff. The Physical and OT departments are very good. There is a genuine air of caring about the place, and most of the staff seem to enjoy working here. You will always find the occasional employee who does not have the empathy or patience for dealing with a geriatric population. My Mother did not like the food at all, and they could improve on the overall quality. there were many activities to choose from, mass 3x week, a decent library, movies 2x week I believe, as well as trips out at least once a month. There were parties at least 1x month. The ground are lovely. I travel around the 5 boroughs to many nursing homes, and I am always grateful we chose Providence Rest over any other. We had piece of mind that our mother had very good care during the last year of her life.
