My 93 year old mother is so happy and contend with Park Place Assisted Living. She is able to use her walker and go to the activities, or just walk the halls. She has made new friends and now has someone to talk to. The staff checks on her hourly and helps her whenever she needs them. She told me last week that she thought she would end in an nursing home and wonders why she waited so long to move out of her home of 20 years.. The room was painted, new carpet and bathroom flooring before she moved in. She took some of her furniture and personal items with her to make it her home. The staff in her building are very thoughtful and caring to the residents. She says the meals ( 3 a day) are very good especially the desserts. The management is new over the past 2 years ago and they are doing a wonderful job with hiring caring personal. I would highly recommend them as they meet our needs. I know I don't have to worry about her and that this will be last home and we won't have to move her to a nursing home.

my mother stayed there for 4 months... terrible care - no wonder the residents were always trying to get out of the doors.... aides allowed patients to bully each other - instead of redirecting them to other activities... the aides were rough in handling patients - i had to personally reprimand and aide in the way she was pulling a resident up off the floor.... They didnt care if they got fed or not - I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone..

My parents are currently living at Park Place. Right as they moved in, a new corporation took over ownership. What had been heralded as a well staffed, meals that were healthy and attractive, free amenities, personal care of financial support by offering workable options, on property LPN and RN staffing…was not available. The meals are not healthy: a couple days having some type of chips, noodles (white flour) with small bits of meat 2-3 times a week, the 3-4 choices of an alternative meal were cut to 1-2 and one of those being a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and no choice of what the other choice is (they were told several "all the time choices" that aren't really offered). The staff has been cut back so severely that laundry and shoveling are now put on the aides shoulders. There isn't a laundry aide any more, so your laundry is not only lost over and over but it doesn't get done for a couple more days at a time. The other night, when there wasn't a snow storm, they had one aide on duty for the whole two houses combined. There are residents who sit together and bully (socially) other residents until they have left. Nothing seems to get done about this bullying. This is a last resort choice and we are getting them out of it.

The girls are pretty good at what they do here at Park Place. They're kind to us. But I'm really concerned that the food is bad. It's not just that it's not enough, but the choices being served are inappropriate. The other night at supper, we had a plate of 2 pieces of whole wheat bread without any butter or mayonnaise on it, a scoop of chicken salad, 1 piece of lettuce, then a little cucumber dish the size of a custard cup. Last week, they served a plate of salted potato chips. At the end of that week, they served little cheese sticks with salt on them. Those were served to a bunch of old ladies whose kidneys weren't functioning for a little while now. I complained about it so they did a bit better with the portioning on the next meal. At that time, we had Danish bread served for breakfast. We also had chicken noodles with 2 great big dumplings. Then for supper, we had spaghetti. Now can you imagine how much carbohydrates they were giving all the diabetics? Besides room and board, my husband and I pay $3000 a month for both of us but that's the meal we get. I told them what they're serving is really bad for us. However, I was told by one of the nurses that when they brought it up at their meeting, they were told that the home office just gets food from Gordon Food and that's all there is to it. There are no changes that could be made. My husband also pays $1100 for medical care. Now when he got a scratch so that they put a bandage on it, they charged us $5. When someone falls, they call the ambulance and send him to the emergency room as an out-patient. They just don't do anything. When you take a shower, the hot water goes from hot to cold without turning the handle. It goes from really hot to really cold, then back again. They said that's the way it's always been. Aside from that, the windows are drafty. This is an old place. They aren't investing any money in here.

My great uncle was moved to Park Place Assisted Living following a fall in his home. This was my first experience with an assisted living facility and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. During my first visit, I noticed some of the amenities such as the heating and a/c unit for each room, cable television, 24 hour staffing, barber shop, housekeeping, and full-time RN and LPN. The food at the facility was actually pretty good, which was a pleasant surprise. The staff was great, and from my experience provided excellent care for not just my uncle, but all patients. One of the biggest drawbacks of the facility was the poor maintenance work. My uncle's sink would never drain and the thermostat broke and remained so for almost two weeks. All in all I would rate this facility above average and would recommend it for those seeking an assisted living facility.
