"At Grandhaven, they have a two-room apartment, it was vacant, and it looked pretty good. The place looked pretty well kept too. Not only that, they have cottages that you can move up into there. So it looked like a pretty well run place. The staff was pleasant. They have all the normal stuff for activities. They have bingo and cards. They have an exercise room there. It is a nice place. I would recommend this facility to others. "

"Brookdale Wynwood was a very nice place. Russel didn't like it, but I did. It was private home with 5 or 6 people in it, and I thought it would be great, but he was not interested in that. It's not for me; it's for him. "

"My mother and father were residents at Grace Haven in St John’s at different years. Five years after my mother’s passing, it was time for my dad to move to a nursing home. He, along with us children, absolutely wanted him to live at Grace Haven. The staff made it easy on dad and us children. All were so very welcoming. Dad noticed somebody he knew before he moved in. Missy made sure he had a place at that table for all of his meals. They also asked, in advance, what his favorite foods were and other questions to better get to know dad before he moved in. They offer different activities daily, ensuring they have plenty of opportunities to socialize with all of the residents. We also appreciated, and our dad looked forward to going out to lunch at different restaurants. Grace Haven provided transportation for their residents. The rooms are spacious with plenty of light because of the beautiful bay windows. My parents felt at home at Grace Haven. When I took dad out to lunch and brought him back, he would come in and say, “I’m home!” Our family has recommended Grace Haven to people who have inquired about getting their parent(s) moved to a nursing home. We are extremely grateful for all of the love that the staff provided every resident. Anytime that us children had questions, we received responses promptly. Our parents were truly blessed to live at Grace Haven."

"I went to the Independence Village of Grand Ledge. I like that they were very friendly and accommodating, and they answered all my questions. They were very free, she was giving me a tour, and sharing menus and activity calendars. You could tell just from walking in that it was a comfortable, happy kind of atmosphere because the residents in the lobby were all very interactive. So it just told me that they were content to be where they were. A member of my party sampled the food, and they thought it was excellent. It was an upgrade from cafeteria-style. They served you at the table. It looked like they just recently did some updates, but the rooms that we saw were all very nicely done and up to date."

"Bickford of Okemos was clean. They're helpful. The room that they showed us was very nice, and I liked the way it was laid out. The dining area was clean. If my mom would have went there, she would have enjoyed their activities."

"I went to New Haven Foster Care. The rooms were good sized. I liked that it was homey. It felt like you were in a house, although it had lots of bedrooms. They had a common area. Someone could stay in their room and not feel cramped and they could come out to the common area as they wished. The place was neat. The residents were watching TV. There weren't any planned activities going on. The staff person when I was there was pleasant and delightful, answered all my questions and told me things I didn't know I needed to know. The dining area was homey. It had a nice big table for group meals. The facility was well laid out. There were some larger rooms and some smaller rooms, and the price reflected the size of the room. Even the small rooms were pleasant and big enough. I wouldn't mind staying in the small room. I could spend some time in my room and be happy. They have a big backyard. You could have a TV in your room. There's not a salon, but they have people come in to provide those services. They didn't provide transportation for anything. That's the responsibility of the family."

"I would put my mom in Rose Wood of DeWitt because she would be pampered and taken care of better. The nurse who runs it is certified in dementia. My mom has dementia, and we would feel very safe with her there. It’s a very well-run, beautifully decorated home for 12. We saw six or seven places, and it was the only one I was excited about."

"My wife moved to Addington Place in October 2020. She has been suffering from vascular dementia (1st diagnosed about 5 year ago at MSU). Since she's lived there, she has had excellent, compassionate care by all of the staff. They have adapted very well as her memory and physical issues have increased. An ongoing issue for the facility has been the lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Even so, the staff has put forth the effort for us to help celebrate special occasions. I would recommend Addington Place to any of my friends."

"My girlfriend's mom was there a couple of years ago. I cannot say more about the staff. Those folks treat your parents as one of their own. They love and treat them with the utmost respect. When we had to move my dad to a facility in February, there was no question as to where we were going. Super clean, family owned and is VERY competitive with prices."

"They had memory care, and we knew that my mother-in-law needed memory care. The Willows had a lot more things that residents could do while living and just staying in the place. It had a garden that you could walk out on and do, and they had little stations of different things that people could work at or go to -- just a lot more activities that she could venture out of her room and do. It wasn't a large place, but it was really nice. They had street names for the hallways, and it was just very friendly. "

"Kalkidan AFC 3 is fantastic and my mother's room is wonderful. The care has been very good; she's having her needs met. I'm there on a regular basis, it's always been clean, there's no unpleasant odor, and the patients are clean. I can't say enough good things about it. Because of the efforts of the woman that owns the place, Mother has put on weight. There are only six residents, and they conscientiously take care of all aspects required by their patients."
