"We are at Sage Glendale. It's not like being at home. You wear a pendant around your neck and then a caregiver will show up and attend to your request. That's principally why we decided to look for assisted living, because my husband has Parkinson's and moving him physically was beyond me. Now, if he needs to get out of bed or out of a chair or get dressed or something, a caregiver will come and move him or get him out of the bed or that sort of thing. Also, we get three meals a day and housekeeping. Mostly the caregivers that attend to us are women. They generally have good English, and they're helpful. They seem to know what they're doing. The food is fine. Of course, it's somewhat limited. If you're at home, you can have anything you want. They have a kitchen, there are plenty of food available, and there is a variety. There are lots of activities. There are walks, a guiding club, and book clubs. They show featured movies, they have a little theater there, and there are games. There are plenty of activities scheduled. Sometimes, they have outings. They have a van and a driver, but you have to book them ahead. If you have a medical appointment, the driver might be tied up, and so you can't rely on them. So that's the drawback with them. It is in a convenient neighborhood where you can walk to things. It's close to Glendale Galleria, a park, and a library, and so on. It's got those advantages."
