"Mission Chateau is very nice. It's extremely upscale. All the amenities are extremely upscale and extremely expensive. It was extremely expensive. It's in a very, very expensive end of town and it shows. It's an extremely nice community. It's beautiful. The apartments were extremely nice. They had hardwood-type floors in the living areas, which was important to me as a wheelchair patient. The tour guide showed us around the different places in the building, but she didn't share the activities with us. We didn't get a full idea of what the activities were. It looked like they might have been getting ready for the football game and that's about it, that's all we saw. It was a Saturday, so there didn't seem to be much going on."

"It was very nice. They had an assisted living facility and a regular senior living facility. The units were very nice. The community was very nice and new. We saw everything. They had a place to go to church, a place to work out, and they had a nice cafeteria. It was very much up to date. The food was very good. It was very clean and spotless."

"Garden Villas of Lenexa was by far my favorite of the apartments that I looked at. The only problem with it was that the laundry room was on the lower floor. To go there, I would have to go down a hallway, take an elevator, and then walk a little bit more. I thought that was a little bit too inconvenient at my age. The washers and dryers are complimentary, but you have to go to them. I viewed a 1-bedroom alcove. It is essentially a studio, but it is extremely well laid out with a full kitchen and a great closet space. Even though it is a studio, you get extra storage, which is helpful. It also has a nice balcony. They have an indoor heated pool and a hot tub. They have several activity rooms that looked quite nice. They have a little bar area with ice cream. The activities looked nice. They have a library, and the dining area is restaurant style. They have the nicest staff, too. They were very friendly and very involved. They were chatting with the residents on a friendly basis. It was a lovely atmosphere. The reason I didn't choose them was the laundry situation. Also, there was a big hill within the parking lot that you would have to go up to, and in the winter that might be a bit difficult. They have transportation available. They offer valet parking. If it was slippery, I could just leave my car at the door, and they would take it and park it."

"We chose this community. We are very satisfied. They have been so helpful in helping my father make the adjustment. The room is very spacious, and my father has a large, bright window that is just wonderful.It just has everything in the assisted living. My dad is a great eater, and he just loves their food. The kitchen supervisor came to see him, interviewed him, and asked him what he liked, and my dad thinks the food is wonderful. He was sick for a little bit. He had a wound injury from a fall when he moved in there, and when they were treating that, he just didn't feel like going to the dining room a couple of times, so they came down and said, "What would you like?" They brought him hot soup and made him feel better, so they are wonderful; it is a very personal service. Their social activities are very good. He is out for bingo and the other things that they have planned. Leaving your home is a difficult time, and it took him a little while, but the activity director is just like a pied piper and gets you involved in things, so he is active now. "

"I toured Brookdale Wornall Place. The staff were very friendly and professional. They had two different types of units: east and west. The one that I saw was a 1-bedroom east. It had a view of the courtyard, and that was very nice. Even in the winter, there was a fountain and a lot of plants. It would be very pleasant in the spring, summer, and fall. The apartment had a good kitchen. The east style apartment is a little bit closed off from the living room, but the west configuration is more open. There was nothing all that special about their common dining area, but it was fine. It was more like a restaurant. They had quite a few activities. They had therapy pools and fitness facilities. However, there was no laundry in the unit. The hallways were a bit narrow and did not have handrails. The place had a very nice deck. It had a fireplace that did not put out heat, but it did glow for ambiance. They had garage spaces that included enough square footage to put storage containers. The parking was only $89 a month more."
