My parents really liked Primrose. The rooms were a little bit larger. Mom and Dad liked the simpler food, and it was really good. There was a chef who didn't make gourmet food. The facility probably gets more farm clients, which might explain the food choices. Farm clients would just be more used to simpler foods like meat, potatoes, and vegetables seasoned with basic spices and maybe pepper at the most. The facility had both assisted and independent living areas. It felt homey, and the staff was really friendly. People greeted me and were friendly. The residents were also friendly; they said hi to me and smiled.

I visited Primrose at Council Bluffs. It has both independent and assisted living in the same complex. It is outstanding. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I couldn't really ask for anything more. There are various levels, and they are adequate for anything you want for assisted living or independent living. They even have a separate bedroom, a living room, and a kitchenette in the same assisted living portion. The only problem would be they are quite expensive. They showed us were the activities took place during the week, but they didn't actually have any when we were there. The independent living is better than an apartment house, and the assisted living is very desirable.

Primrose Retirement is very nice, and the staff is excellent. We had a nice experience there. It is independent and assisted living. The independent living is wonderful. It has great size and everything, but if you had to go to assisted living, you have to go into a studio apartment. That I did not like. They are exercising every day and card playing. They have all kind of things you can do.

The staff was very caring but a bit distant in some way. There was a resident wandering around clearly suffering from dementia. She was guided into the office several times during my visit to calm her, which was successful after several tries. I believe so the other residents in the dining hall would not be disrupted. I think this resident probably needed a higher level of attention and care. The facilities were top rate. Everything you would expect if you were going to a 5 star resort. The amenities were also excellent in regard to the living units and the food that was being served to the residents.
