Amelia Senior Living is a smaller place, so they take really good care of the residents there. They know everybody and they are more into personalized care. I like that mom's room is cozy, and that it's real light and bright. They have a library, a puzzle room, a sunroom, and a courtyard. So, they have a lot of different amenities there. They also have game nights, Sunday sundaes where they have ice cream sundaes on Sunday evenings for snacks, have rosary every day on Monday through Friday at 3 o'clock, and church services on site. Those were the things that were important to her. The food there is like homemade food. It's really good.

The feel of the entire place gave off comfortable and happy vibes. Every area was clean and welcoming. The staff were all friendly and helpful and you could tell they enjoyed working there. I did not have a meal there but was told by residents that the food is wonderful. I would feel confident living here.

Amelia Senior Living was a much newer community. It was just a one-floor rectangular building. It was very clean. Since I toured on the weekend, I only ran across one person who was on staff, and it was a maid aide. She was the one that took me throughout the facility, and she was very pleasant and very knowledgeable. The dining area layout was good. It was small, too. The staff mentioned a few activities like their movie night, bingo, and church services. They had a beautiful chapel.

Amelia Senior Living seemed very homey, but it seemed to be more of a nursing home. They have meals, transportation, and activities. The facility didn't appear to be dirty, but it just wasn't sparkling clean. The staff was wonderful. They were very friendly and nice. I think I spoke to more of their staff than I did at the other place.

I went through the dining area, and it was neat, clean, and very organized. It was a very homey atmosphere.

I liked that it was family oriented and that it was a smaller community. They provide three meals and then snacks during the day and night. The lady that gave the tour was very informative and let us know everything about the place. We really liked it a lot. The food was very good. They had a nice fireplace room, two courtyards, and all kinds of places to sit. The halls were nice and wide. It's just a beautiful place.

They have an age-in-place policy there where they don't need to move the person out of their room or to another facility, which is mainly what I'm looking for. I really like that facility. Of the ones that I've seen so far, I think this place is in the top five. The staff were absolutely phenomenal. They were very friendly and very nice. The rooms were smaller than some of the ones that I've seen, but they were still very comfortable. They have several activities, especially ones that my mom would enjoy. They have church services, they have Bible study, and this time of year, they would take them out to tour and see the leaves around one of the local lakes and the community surrounding. They let them make baked goods. They let the residents mix batter of the cake and then they'll take it into the kitchen, and they'll bake it for them. The accommodation they have for the activities was very nice. They have an exercise room where they can do exercises for physical therapy-type things to keep them active if they're able to be active. Overall, I like the place. It was smaller than some of the facilities I've seen, but it's also very comfortable. It's a very nice facility. It's located in a very quiet neighborhood. One side of the facility, if a person had a room there, they're able to watch kids in the neighborhood play in their backyard and do people watching. On the other side of the facility, if the person had a room there, they could look into the woods and see the wildlife and the birds and things of that nature. They have a very nice courtyard in the middle where they could have bird feeders outside their window. For those who have pets, they can take their dog or whatever out into the courtyard to let them do their business. It's a very, very nice facility. It's small, but I think in a smaller facility they would be able to get more individual attention, which is something I like.

My mother will be moving here. I liked the people and the curriculum that they were going to have. We met with the director and I was able to talk to her and get a tour of the place and be able to sit down and ask questions on what they're able to do and help with, and the programs they provide. The rooms were clean and big enough for what we needed for my mom. She doesn't need a large area, so we just went with this small one-bedroom. The staff during the tour was fantastic. The tour that we had was around lunchtime, and it was nice seeing the people down in the dining area and being able to see them interacting. The dining area was clean and it was nice the way they had the food outlined. Every single day, they would have something different, but they have staple food that will be available every single day, like hot dogs or hamburgers. That way, if a resident didn't want the meals they were creating, they could just always fall back to the regular items they would have every single day. They have a salon, they do the bathing regularly, they have a little movie theater and a small church, and crafts. They usually do weekly outings to where they can take the residents to the grocery store, so they can get stuff for their kitchenette area.

I went here, and I liked it. We are going to try to place dad there. I've known three people who have lived there. At that time and that's been three or four years ago, they were very clean and tidy. It's just a very welcoming atmosphere. When I went to tour this time, it was even cleaner and tidier. The staff and all of those that we came in contact with were smiling. They were interacting with the folks that were there. Everybody looked happy. It was just a very comforting feeling and welcoming place. It was bright. I like the setting. Amber was extremely friendly, very comfortable to talk to, and very knowledgeable. She just made you feel welcome and at home. The rooms were great. I already knew three people who had lived out there, so I knew what the rooms were like. One of the things I liked is the fact that they are now putting paint that is specialized for folks with macular degeneration, and the color is beautiful and very soothing. I like the rooms. I know how they can be arranged. The space is nice. They're very clean. I'm very happy with my choice. The dining area is very open and very nice. I could not taste a meal during that time, but the staff gave me a menu to share with my dad. I liked the fact that they have alternatives because he can be kind of a picky eater. When we got ready to leave, folks were starting to gather for their dinner. That's really where I wanted my dad to be and I'm pleased it's turning out that way. We didn't talk a lot about the activity, but I know the activity director, so I know what she can do. They were playing bingo the day I was there. Everybody was pleased. They were all dressed up for the day and the game. I know that they do quite a few activities and I asked her about day trips and she said right now they don't do much of that, but occasionally they will all go for a ride for those that want to go. They do lots of things and they keep their people as active as they want to be. I feel that they are extremely welcoming and comfortable there.

My mother has been here for a month now, and she's doing very well. I'm very pleased with everything from beginning to end. They have been great, wonderful communication, my mother's happy, they treat her very well, total respect. We're just overall very happy with them. It's like a home, it's comfortable, very homey, and not institutional. It's not like a nursing home. It's a very comfortable place. I've been there when my mom has eaten, and their food looks very good. They offer daily activities, they offer devotions, and church services for those that want to participate. I'm very happy with them, my brother and sister are as well.

What I like about them is that it’s small and the people are super friendly. There are lots of activities with four or five a day, including exercise. They play games that vary throughout the day. They also go to places for lunch or dinner and have manicures twice a week. It’s a happy place.
