What ongoing training does the staff receive in dementia care?
All staff receive a minimum of 8 hours of dementia care training, on top of additional training that includes Virtual Dementia Tour, Jolene Brackey and Tepa Snow philosophies.
What programs or activities does CountryHouse – Council Bluffs offer to keep residents engaged? How does the staff engage residents' long-term memories?
Our LIfeCycles wellness program engages memory care residents in four areas: social, intellectual, physical and spiritual. Daily and weekly routines help residents stay grounded and reassured, plus staff use daily reminiscing questions to help redirect residents and ease anxieties.
What techniques does CountryHouse – Council Bluffs use to support memory care residents during mealtimes?
Mealtimes are important for wellness on so many levels. Residents are encouraged to participate in meal preparations such as simple recipes or setting the table. Staff members sit with residents during the meal, often dining alongside them, to make the experience as natural and positive as possible.
Describe the neighborhood around CountryHouse – Council Bluffs. Is it located in a residential neighborhood, a business district, a rural setting, or other type of locale?
CountryHouse is located in the heart of Council Bluffs but also overlooks beautiful, undeveloped woodlands. While it's conveniently close to Interstate 80 and local businesses, it's not unusual to spot deer and wild turkeys from the courtyard.
At this brand new Community, we believe services are just part of everyday living at CountryHouse. Because CountryHouse was designed by assisted living/memory care experts to look and feel like a family home, service delivery is discreetly built into the natural function of the household.
Services include 24-hour care, daily home-cooked meals with mealtime assistance if needed, medication supervision, help with bathing, dressing and hair care, housekeeping, laundry, and transportation. A nurse is on-site Monday through Friday and on call 24/7. Doctors, podiatrists, beauticians and other affiliated professionals make regular visits.
A full-time program coordinator oversees a 52-week curriculum of activities that are integrated with LifeCycles, our signature, whole-person wellness program. The program curriculum is designed to maximize all four elements of wellness: Spiritual, Intellectual, Physical and Spiritual.
Because everything we do is considered an activity, all staff participate in activities at CountryHouse seven days a week. There is a balance of daily, routine activities such as Morning Exercise and the Afternoon Bus Ride, and weekly activities such as Tuesday Pet Visits. Special activities add variety, depending on the season, such as bus trips, dances, classroom visits, concerts, parties, and more. There’s also a balance of group and personalized one-on-one activities. Interaction with pets, children, and nature are strong elements of our program curriculum.
Treating people like family is at the heart of what we do. We're here to offer as much help as you need.
