"Springwood Landing is nice. It's clean and eye-appealing. It's fairly new, so it's put together really nicely. The lady who toured us was very professional, very kind, positive, and welcoming. She was just really accommodating. I could tell that she knew the residents and she was super sweet to them. I liked that. We went to dinner there and the food was good. After dinner, they were showing a movie that night in their movie theater. They also have a craft area, they have people that go walking quite a bit, there's a library and a cooking/baking area that's part of the craft area. I visited probably three or four different rooms and styles of layout. There was a single bedroom and then there was one that had two bedrooms, but the one that my mom would go to had a small kitchenette. It had a peninsula and my mom would be able to have her dog with her, and she's not going to be charged extra for that."

"I went to Cogir of Vancouver. The appearance was really nice. The grounds outside, I mean, you get a very positive feeling outside, even as you walk into the building. It has the feeling of a very nice hotel inside the lobby area. You got a nice big dining area, very open ceilings, very nice. I met with the sales rep, a really nice gentleman, and we went up and looked the facility over, looked at one of the rooms that was to be a one-bedroom, not a studio, and about 590 square feet. A really comfortable layout. It's got a bedroom, a living area, a fairly large kitchen area more than adequate for one person, a very nice bathroom, closet space, and washer and dryer inside the unit, so it's a very, very nice unit. The dining area looked very nice. We did look at their menu. The breakfast had fruit and other things every single day. So I guess it was fruit, hot cereal, cold cereal every day. You can order eggs, bacon, sausage, all normal hot breakfast items if you want to. They have pancakes, waffles, french toast, omelets, along those lines. He said you can get breakfast anytime during the day. Lunch and dinner, they do a different soup every day, different salads every day. They have two entrees every day that are different throughout the week, and then the sides of the mash, beans, carrots, rice, that changes every day as well. If you don't want either of those entrees, they have different options for the week, and they said that there's a week at a time. So like last week they had some fish Reuben sandwich/a chicken casserole available if you didn't want any of the entrees that they were serving, and different desserts every day. It's a pretty comprehensive menu that they have available. The one concern I have is hidden costs that I'm not aware of at this point in time because he mentioned things like if they have to come up to the room to take my mother down to the dining hall, there's a charge for that. If they deliver a meal to her room because she doesn't feel like going down to the dining area, there's a charge for that. So I'm kind of worried about the hidden fees."

"It is quite good. The rooms are a little bit smaller but the staff was excellent-- I had no problem with that. They have food there, like lunch and dinner type food. Everybody seemed to enjoy the place and they were there and it's a vibrant community, not with people that were out in, say, outer space or whatever. I had no problems with the staff, they answered questions and allowed me to look around and see what the facility looked like. On the menu, they had a good selection of food. And there's more than one type of food that you could eat, in case you didn't like liver and onions that day, you could also order a steak or something. There was an exercise room there. There were some outside activities, but I just got the feeling that it wasn't quite the same as the other place I toured. The rooms were clean and everything was clean inside the facility. I didn't have any difficulty finding anything one way or the other. I felt it's a little more isolated out there, away from my friends that are in the Vancouver area. So I didn't think they would come and visit me as much."

"The rooms are generously spaced. They have everything you need to live comfortably. The food is top notch. We have enjoyed everything we have tried. The servers in the dining are gracious and very helpful should you have a question or want a recommendation. The manager was most accommodatitng and willing to show various size apartments. She always had full knowledge of everything The Quarry had to offer for activities, and welcomed us back for repeat visits while making up our minds. All staff members provided friendly information when asked. And every resident we spoke to was happy and enthusiastic about their decision to live here."

"I have been to the Parkrose Chateau, and it was a nice place. They have cut down their bathtubs. I don't like a cut-down bathtub for a shower. But other than that, they had three meals a day. They had a dining area and a place where they put pastry, cookies, pudding, and stuff like that. The staff members that I met were great. I have a dog, and I took my dog there. He was able to go sit in the dining room right next to the table, but we were at a back table. So they accepted that, and it was great. We had lunch over there. I had shrimp, and it was great. They still have everything, but they're a 30-year-old building, and they get out of date."

"Mom is at MorningStar at Laurelhurst. It is very clean. Most of the caregivers are very caring and loving. They enjoy what they do and care for the residents. There were a few issues at the beginning, but things are better now. No place is perfect. I was given a couple of opportunities to have a meal there, and the food is always very fresh because the memory care patients are always served first. It's nutritious and they have a really good chef. There's a good variety. There are a lot of coloring activities (they have adult coloring books). They also play music and then have movies after dinner. They have other activities that I noticed on the board, like going for a walk and trivia things, but Mom's not interested in any of that stuff. She's very picky. She's always just sitting there, totally bored."

"A prime consideration in choosing Senior Independent Living at Calaroga Terrace was its central location and easy access to Portland's great Public Transit System(Street Car, MAX train and Bus).But more importantly I made the choice because of Calaroga's reputation of providing a supportive community environment including a dedicated and professional staff. Oh yes, and I do enjoy a panoramic view of the city from my apartment and balcony. Duane"

"I’m writing this review in hope that it will help those family members, who have been given this difficult decision of the placement of their love ones. I to had this difficulty decision myself, so I’m speaking from experience. The home and clients rooms are immaculate. Kept very clean, no odors. Each room has its own bathroom. Laundry is done by the care team. The food is home made, served hot. They do their best to accommodate the clients likes and dislikes. They have a menu for all dietary needs. It is family owned, therefore the staff are some of their family members. They take pride in the care they provide to each of their clients, meeting each with their specific needs. The home is a loving home. The staff is caring and make time to listen to the family and client individuals needs. I hope that this review will help make it a little easier with this transition. I know that my family and I were will pleased."

"My mother-in-law went to Courtyard at Mt. Tabor for respite care. It's bright and clean. The people were friendly. The room was very nice. It's good. The staff were helpful, but sometimes they seemed short-staffed. They offered a lot of activities that seemed very appealing. My mother-in-law did not use any of them. She was in quarantine because she was contagious, so she couldn't and wasn't inclined to. But they looked quite good. I saw them posted, and it looked like they had music, exercise classes, outings, and they would have a dog come in. So there seemed to be a wide variety of activities that looked very appealing. My mother-in-law did not go to the dining area, but her food was brought in. I think the food was okay. She liked some meals, but not others."

"We liked the amenities here and the food was fantastic compared to what we had at other places. I really liked Kevin, the staff. He was very down-to-earth and very helpful in some of the stuff and explained the amenities really well. He showed us several apartments and he was really gracious and we really enjoyed him. We liked the size of the apartment, the amenities were more but the cost was less than the other places. They do cleaning twice a week to make sure that the place was clean. They have three meals a day and there are snacks around. They have buses that go out on Wednesdays and do different things, so you are able to go to the bank or your appointments with their provided service. We watched the residents Wii Bowling, they had a computer room, and mom won't be cooking or cleaning or any of that. I tried a meal and it was very good. I also thought that the layout is pretty good because there's less walking for the residents."

"I toured Glenmoore Gracious Retirement Living. It was very good and very nice. I like the décor and the activities that they have. The staff gave me a tour. All they have there is independent living. Upkeep was very good. I was very impressed with it. It was very clean and modern. It's an overall nice facility. They showed me two apartments, and they were very nice. The staff were good and knowledgeable."

"Rose Valley Campus is a really nice facility. It is very clean. My mom is in a one-bedroom unit, but they also have some studio apartments that are almost the same size as the one-bedroom units. They are very clean and each room got a good view of either the mountains or the courtyard that they have there. She has her own bathroom and it is a really big bathroom, which is really nice. The people that are working there are very kind and helpful. They just really take care of my mom. They also have great food there. With your rent there, you have a call button that comes with it and you can wear it as a bracelet or a necklace around your neck so that any time any where you go in the facility, if you need someone, you just press that button. "

"I had an in-person tour of Creekside Village Retirement. All the staff that I met were very friendly and very helpful. The people there were very gracious and welcoming as well. The grounds are lovely, with a nice walking path around the building. The yard was well kept up. The rooms have all been updated and are kept updated regularly. What we liked about the rooms was that they were large with a lot of storage. They had cooking facilities in the room, like a range top and a microwave, which we liked. There were four kitchens around the building for community use, so there were places to bake as well. They have a common dining area, and they provide two meals per day. They had soda, which none of the other places had. It was cafeteria-style dining, and the food was very good. We liked that the meal time was two hours rather than a one hour like most places, so it was more flexible. There was always coffee, fruit, juices, and sodas available all day and night. They have exercises during the week. They have Tai chi and an activity director. They have one trip a week to somewhere in the community, a large library, a crafts room, and more social rooms and spaces than in other places we looked. They also had an art gallery for their occupants' work, which was nice."
