"My parents are now situated in an assisted living at GracePointe. They are settled in and doing well. It is a very large community. They have independent living apartments for seniors, they got the assisted care with what care they need, and they have a nursing home. It encompasses all of those facilities. The staff seems to be very caring. They really help the residents a lot. The meals seem to be excellent, too. It has been very positive. They have church services and bingo, a theater if they want to watch movies, there is a library available, and they have little ice cream socials. There are plenty of different activities; however, the place is very large. Because of the bigness of it, it is sometimes a little bit difficult getting to and from different places."

"Cherrywood Pointe of Forest Lake was great. I was looking at the two-bedroom, and it had two baths, a living room and a kitchen, but it's smaller than the other one we visited. Everything was on main floor even the laundry. However, it would be more complicated there because of underground parking and there were long hallways to get to my room, but almost anything was available there. It's just an awesome place. It's the best assisted living that I've ever seen. "

"My mother loves living here. She is happy and cared for. They have a lot of activities for all and the staff treats us with respect. My mother is well taken care of. The place is bright and staff friendly. It's great to walk in and see them interacting with the residents. They have church service, a hairdresser that comes in. The rooms were nice and big with refrigerator and freezer.."

"My father was in assisted living at Crest View Senior Community at Blaine and they had an opening in memory care, so we did find him a spot. The staff is very accommodating. I haven't had any problems with anybody that I've worked with. He's moving from one floor to another floor. He likes the food very much. We've eaten with him several times ourselves. It's a healthy balance. You get your meat, protein, vegetables, and fruit pretty much at every meal. They have their meal times, and then there is a snack area where they can get fresh fruit all the time or leftover desserts, cookies, and coffee. My mother-in-law is in the independent side. She went from a two-bedroom to a one-bedroom, which was from one side of the hall to the other side of the hall, just because she didn't need all that room. The facility is very good. We've been to all the entertainment and the activities with my dad. They have a good selection. They have a library, a gym, and games. We went to several different places and the price was all within the same range, so it's very comparable."

"I will be moving into Oak Hills Manor. It's a smaller community. There were probably 30 to 40 units there. It's quiet and friendly. The staff was very congenial and explained the facility well. They showed me everything. The apartment was spacious compared to many of them that I had seen. It's an older apartment building, so it's not the latest in appliances and stuff like that; that's not a big deal for me. It had garage parking and storage available. The parking was extra, but the storage wasn't. They had seating areas throughout the building. The apartment was well kept. They have a maintenance man, and I know that the manager does some of the maintenance, too. They were working outside with the grounds when I came, so I'm sure they are doing a good job."

"I will be moving into The Farmstead. I toured them, and I like the way the director presented it. The building itself was very well appointed, the painting, the colors and the layout were very, very good. The choice of the apartment was great. I think it's going to be a good fit. With Covid, I didn't get a chance to communicate much with anyone except the director there, one of the maintenance people, and the chapel representative. They're very friendly. I like almost everything about the place, except that the area it's in, is quite busy, traffic-wise. It doesn't have the open areas that some of the others have, but it has a walking track in the basement and everything else that I wanted. I did not try the food. I visited the dining area, and they have many choices. I can order one meal or a full meal program. I've been cooking for myself for several months now, so I intend to take one meal a day, and then supplement with what I can do. They've responded to every question that I had and have called me back if there were any changes. Everything has been pretty positive. I didn't get to see an awful lot of it, but all that I saw was very clean and well cared for."

"The staff at Margaret Place Senior Apartments treated me very well during my tour. They were very friendly. The place was well kept and clean, and the people were very nice and friendly. The landscape of the place was beautiful. It's generally located in a good place that was close to hospitals and parks. "

"We need two bedrooms and a library in our unit and they have that at Waverly Gardens. We've been on the list there for a couple of years now. I think it's very popular or else people just aren't moving. They have a pool, and a workshop for the men, and they also have meals provided if you're interested. They have the three steps, independent living, assisted living, and beyond, which we like. It's very pretty and it looks comfortable, and we like the units that we looked at. They have a laundry facility and a fireplace. The staff during the tour was very lovely, and knowledgeable, took plenty of time with us, and answered all our questions. We stayed for lunch one day and it was delicious. They have a nice little shop and a cafe that you can go to."

"Homestead at Anoka was number one in the list. This one is brand new; it just opened about four months ago. They’ve got a patio, balcony, and sun room. Everything was brand new and included. They’ve got underground parking and activities available. I did review the monthly plan; everyday they’ve got 5 or 6 things for the people to do plus all the other amenities that they had. "

"Overall I thought the place was great for my mother. It was not to far from where she originally lived and allows me to still stop by and visit at least two times per week. I was really impressed by the staff and the fact that they do only assist, and they do not force their help upon the residents. My Mother has complained about not enjoying the food, however she is also a very picky eater so I know that has been hard for her. "

"Autumn Glen is a new facility that's only been open for a year. The staff was pleasant and easy to talk to. They have a variety of people of different religions living there. We liked the activities and the fact that they have outings and take them shopping. My mom has a one bedroom with a large bathroom and a full kitchen, so she can have dinner in her room. They have a locked-up area for her meds. She’s in transitional care with the Guardian Angels, and the staff from both places knew each other. "

"River North Senior Apartments is not all it's cracked up to be. We have a community room, a day room, and a movie room that you can reserve any time you want. They don't serve meals. Maintenance is alright but it's a 55+ community so there's no nurses nor staff. We have a need and yet people here don't come. It's not a nursing home or anything like that, it's an apartment."

"It is a fairly large complex. The staff there was extremely nice, and I love them for that. The building itself was a little dated. They look like it could use some updating -- not that it was falling apart -- but very outdated as far as the woodwork and the carpeting. The rooms were OK. The apartments were OK. We did get a chance to eat there, and the food was phenomenal; it was very good."
