"My sister-in-law is moving into Abiitan Mill City. We chose it because they have a program for the memory care residents seven days a week. That was a very big part of it for us, so they have staff around doing that. It's beautiful because it's about five years old. That caught our eye, but it was the staffing situation that really caused us to take it seriously. They have creative arts and there's an exercise program. There's keeping up to date, reading the newspaper, there's usually something interesting that involves a film; one night it will be a documentary, another night it will be a comedy, and there will be a movie. They have a good staff to resident ratio."

"I visited. It was very clean. The staff was very friendly. We saw a library and a large communal room. That was right when the pandemic was going on, so we didn't get to go anywhere where there were patients. The room that I saw looked very nice. The staff was excellent. Very friendly and very knowledgeable. I was going to revisit them this time, but my brother is very enthused about the other facility, so I'm not doing that. They had quite a few amenities. The room they showed us was very nice. We saw the dining room and the meeting room. They had really good staff there. It was also kind of a new building."

"We chose Covenant Living of Golden Valley. We liked how happy everyone was, the involvement of people in the community, and the interactions that people had with each other. The residents were just interactive, happy, and welcoming. It just depends which room you get. Some have laundry, some don't, and it depends on the size of the room. But one thing about them, there's a buy-in option, but you can redecorate your room how you want it before you move in."

"I toured Elim Shores. I like the price of the unit. And it was located by a lake, so that was another plus for me. It also had the capability of having assisted living, and you would stay in your own unit, and not move, so it has services where you live. Also, they would take a program in Minnesota called elderly waiver. They have three meals a day. You have the option of buying a meal plan. You didn't have to buy all three meals. You could pay as you go or buy a reduced ticket group. I like the availability of meals and I like the availability of assisted living and elderly waivers. As life changes for me, I will probably need all of those. They have underground garage parking, which is ideal in Minnesota. There's a beauty shop, and of course, crafts and church services, so all of that was appealing. They have units that view the lake. If financially you could afford them, then you could live there. I had a taste of their barbecue, and it was okay. They have a dock, so those who would like to fish that would be available. They were planning to buy a pontoon, so there would be rides in the water. I think they have a bus and take people out in outings."

"I chose Ecumen Seasons, and am set up to move there. It seems to be in a very nice place. It has nice grounds, a nice place for walking, a library, and it's near a mall. The people we met were very nice. It was about a mile from my sister's house, and it's perfect. It was clean, friendly, and they had various options for meal services. They have various activities, and exercise programs, which I definitely want."

"My dad has been at Copperfield Hill for about a month now, and so far, it seems really good. They seemed to be meeting his needs OK. He has a little more space here than he had at the other facility, so that is nice. My dad has a little sitting room with a small kitchen. There is a single bedroom and a bathroom. They do have a lot of activities, although my father isn’t an activity kind of person. He is blind, and he uses a walker. He walks several miles a day. They have sort of a walkway that goes between the two buildings on his floor; it's kind of a skywalk, and he walks there multiple times a day so that works out well for him. There is also an outside that he is still learning his way around because he doesn’t see very well. He seems to be fine with people. He hasn’t said anything. I was able to eat there, and their food is good. "

"I toured Havenwood of Minnetonka and as a 73-year-old, widowed, retired from public service and a veteran, I was very impressed. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and I noticed there are lots of men with a strong veterans group, which really stood out. I love that it's age in place community, where meals are included in the rent, and the underground heated parking and storage are reasonably priced. The building looks brand new, modern, and clean. I would highly recommend Havenwood of Minnetonka to anyone looking for a safe, supportive, and well-run place for themselves or their loved ones."

"We're moving Dad in next weekend. Very clean, set up, very nice, with very friendly staff. It's a nice place, and easy to work with. The apartment was very spacious, and the one that we picked, he can be assisted or independent. So we'll never have to move him again. It has room for a kitchen table. The dining area was very nice, open, and spacious. I think there's three different places in that one you can eat at. It's just clean and well kept up. They have plenty of events, and an event calendar that should be very helpful. There was something going on every day. Shelly was excellent to work with."

"I toured. It was new and updated, and it was very nice. We saw the studio room and it was nice and updated, but it was a little bit small. The dining area was nice, spacious, new, and updated. It was more like a restaurant. It had a bar area, and they do happy hours there, and then it had a seating area. We saw bingo going on and some residents were meeting in the lobby with their loved ones. The staff was very friendly. It didn't have as much outdoor space as I would have hoped, but they had it beautifully maintained. It was definitely in a more industrial area."

"I toured The Lodge at White Bear, A Sky Active Living Community. It just looked like what one of those places would look like. It didn't look bad. There was nothing that upset me. I didn't get knocked over by it to say this is the greatest thing I've ever seen. The staff seemed confident, and the facilities were nice."

"Benedictine Windermere Way was wonderful. The person that toured us, Randy, was super accommodating and was just a great person. The place was beautiful. Absolutely stunning. It's new so the rooms were beautiful. They were quite a bit smaller, but they're still gorgeous. They have a wonderful entrance in that lobby area. It was gorgeous, too. We waited for the meals, but they had a shortage of staff so we did not try the food, but the food looks fabulous. People raved about it. It's prepared by a chef and everybody we talked to loved it. Their dining area was beautiful. There's a fireplace. It's quite large with lots of windows and it's kept up very clean. They have physical therapy and different classes, like exercise classes. They have an outdoor patio. They were grilling out there and the activities looked great. They had an activity down in the theater room that had a big screen on it. They had different get-togethers, happy hours, and special occasions. They have a chapel that's much larger, and they have music playing. They have singalongs and the chapel looked beautiful."

"The rooms seemed bigger than the other ones I've toured, even the studio was bigger. The layout seemed nice. Even for memory care, the rooms had a kitchen with a couple of cabinets. They couldn't cook, but they had a refrigerator and a microwave. The staff was great. They interacted with the residents. The residents seemed happy to see them walking by. They have what they call a Movie Day or Cinema Day, when they show a movie from the 1950s or the 1960s. They have an exercise room, and they do group time. They also take them on a little shuttle bus to various activities around the area."
