"My mother was a patient there. The staff was compassionate and caring. The leadership was attentive to suggestions for improvement. The rooms are small and the amount of natural light was limited. The food was good. "

"I looked at three apartments at Havenwood of Minnetonka. I visited primarily for independent living, but I was looking for continuous care going forward. For me, it's in a very good location. There's a grocery store, there's a bank, there's a hardware store, and there are restaurants. It's just very, very convenient for me who is accustomed to living on the western edge of Minneapolis. The first impression when you walk in is that it is a new building. It's very clean and it's tastefully decorated in the public areas. The apartments are smaller compared to what I'm living in now, but I'm ready to accept that in the future. I only met with two people. I met with one who gave me the tour and then the gal who was at the front desk. They're very accommodating and answered all my questions, plus they gave me more information, not just what I'd asked about."

"My sister-in-law is moving into Abiitan Mill City. We chose it because they have a program for the memory care residents seven days a week. That was a very big part of it for us, so they have staff around doing that. It's beautiful because it's about five years old. That caught our eye, but it was the staffing situation that really caused us to take it seriously. They have creative arts and there's an exercise program. There's keeping up to date, reading the newspaper, there's usually something interesting that involves a film; one night it will be a documentary, another night it will be a comedy, and there will be a movie. They have a good staff to resident ratio."

"I went to RidgePointe Senior Living. The person who gave me the tour was very good, the food was very good, and the apartments were good sized with lots of closet space. She showed me all their amenities, and they were very good."

"We chose Covenant Living of Golden Valley. We liked how happy everyone was, the involvement of people in the community, and the interactions that people had with each other. The residents were just interactive, happy, and welcoming. It just depends which room you get. Some have laundry, some don't, and it depends on the size of the room. But one thing about them, there's a buy-in option, but you can redecorate your room how you want it before you move in."

"I loved Copperfield. I was very impressed, and it's where I want to go; it was in my budget, too. It's comfortable, and everybody seemed to have a nice time. "

"My friend will be moving to Benedictine Living. The food was fantastic and the rooms were awesome. I toured the memory care unit and it was the nicest one I've seen yet. It was spacious, bright, and cheerful. The people seemed nice. They were very helpful and they were not pushy. They knew that they had a good place to sell, and so they were forthcoming on anything. They had a workout room and sort of a makeshift space that they used for church and different services and stuff. They showed me the library. They had a quilting group that displayed quilts, which made it look and feel homey. The elevators were conveniently located plus I liked that they had stairs. If you wanted to walk up the stairs, you could walk up the stairs for exercise up or down. I liked how it was extremely secure. You couldn't just walk on and off the street. You had to either call somebody that is there or you talk to the office and they would allow you in. I liked how they're not hovering out the front door trying to make the residents there feel like they're being watched all the time. I loved the dining room area. I also liked how they could convert it into other usable space. I loved the view that my friend would have from her room. I liked the proximity of the actual building being right next to a line of medical clinics and a hospital. The biggest selling point was that they were the only ones in Northfield that had memory care on the premises. When I looked at the information as to what their upcoming events were, they would take them shopping, bowling, and to different places in the community for lunch."

"The rooms are older and small. The care is moderately good. The biggest complaint is that we purchased new comfortable clothing for him and within a week all but one item we purchased “disappeared” never to be seen again. They also “lost” a sweatshirt that was very dear to him. It is obvious that they randomly distribute clothing to other patients as we often arrived and he was wearing items that were not his own. I would be very wary of this place."

"My father-in-law will be moving into Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood. The staff seemed really, really open and welcoming to people. When we did the tour, the residents seemed happy to be there. The residents said good things about it. It was very well cared for, and the price seemed good. His room has a single bedroom and a nice living room. It is a really nice size, and it looks like it has been well maintained. They have a chapel, which was a really big deal for him. It looks like they have a lot of activities in the dining area. Attached to his room, he's got a little deck that overlooks wetlands. I like the location and friendliness of staff. He also knows someone who's already a resident there."

"I visited the independent living of Gable Pines. The staff was very informative and were very nice. They showed me properties that fit what I was looking for. I asked if there was a washer and dryer in any of the units and they showed me a unit with a washer and dryer. They were very informative, as far as giving me information about the amenities that they had. I asked about the garage parking and they were very helpful and respectful about it. They were having live entertainment come in and even asked if I wanted to stay. I didn't have the time to stay, but I liked that. They showed me the library, their movie room, and how they were set up. They offer a lot of activities so I was very impressed by it. The only thing that I wish they would have had was an indoor pool but they said there's a YMCA located not far from there. The dining area was very nice. They have a formal one that the residents can use if they have their family over. Then they also have a more casual one for breakfast and lunch. It comes with a continental breakfast every day and one other meal."

"The Lodge At White Bear was an excellent place. I was especially impressed with their surroundings and the opportunity to do things outdoors. The person who did the tour was very nice and very helpful. They had a small library and the rooms looked good."

"Havenwood of Maple Grove was very airy, light, white, and open compared to the other two places I went that had more darker wood. I believe they're only a year old, so they have a lot of availability. We toured both assisted living and independent. The tour guy was good. The layout was more dispersed, but they had laundry in their units. They didn't have a pool table though, which was kind of a big thing for my mother's friend."

"Rose Arbor & Wildflower Lodge feels like home. The director who took us on a tour was fantastic. The facility was excellent. Everything's located centrally around the elevators. That's what stood out in our minds the best. You didn't have to run all over to find places, the craft room, the dining room, the church, and the exercise room. Everything's located centrally. The rooms were very homey, very adequate, very appropriate, and laid out well. There are no openings right now, so that tells you it's very well-liked."

"I chose Regent at Burnsville because it seemed friendly. They have beautiful walking paths for me and my dog and it felt comfortable. After looking at six different apartments, I felt that this was the best fit for me. It was a great experience. I enjoyed it. They're very knowledgeable people. The apartment layouts are good and they have whatever you're looking for in the size and whatever. If you have a particular thing in mind, they probably have it for you. They have a library, and if you want a certain author, you can ask for them to bring you books. They have a Red Hat group, which I belong to previously. They play cards which I will enjoy. They have an organ there that I can play and they have lovely seating rooms. You can do whatever you want. The staff during the tour was great. It's what I'm looking for. The layout was easy and things are easy to find. I will not be taking the meals because I cook and I'm independent, but they are available if I would want them. If I don't feel like cooking, I can go down, then they'll charge me. I don't have to take the meal plan to do that. I can just go on a day-to-day basis."
