"I've moved into the Belnor Senior Residences. I love this community. I've met a few people here, and everyone that I've met has been very friendly. Even just walking by, going in or out the door, the people are very friendly and make eye contact and say hello. I've had no problems in my apartment. I love it. It's great. It's perfect just for me. The staff that I have met were very pleasant. I've heard from other people that you got to watch this and watch that, but I haven't had any problems with them at all. They've been very pleasant and easy to talk to. They had a poetry reading on Saturday. On Sunday, people do basically whatever they want to do, but some of us get together and have dinner together. It's like a potluck. There are some of us that play cards. Some of us do line dancing. Every Monday morningthere's a coffee social. There's bible study, listening to music, playing cards, and there's Pokeno. I'm having a good time. We prepare our own food, but there is a food bank that comes here whatever day they pick, and they will bring food for whoever needs it."

"The Lewis Apartments were top-tier. It was beautiful, so clean and just remarkable. The view was remarkable. The staff was energetic, very informative, and patient, especially for older people. They were really good and so warm. I did not feel like that was a tour. I feel like I was in a candy shop. I didn't find anything wrong with it. I only had a question about the washroom facilities. There was no walk-in shower. They may need to have more facilities that have a walk-in arrangement."

"It is a smaller place. It's been in service for years, but it's nice, and you get your private room. You get to have a sofa in your room. They have a glass-top table, a refrigerator, and they have everything right there where you can be more comfortable. You could sit at a table if you want to eat in a room and have your own privacy and keep some of your own food there. I was there twice in a year. They have facilities to take you to the doctors, and they take you on trips. It has a huge balcony, and they have picnics every Friday when the weather permits. They have sofas and chairs, comfortable seating, and you can sit out there. The food is very good. I get along with everybody. When they know I'm coming in, the help always runs out, greets me, and hugs me. They're all wonderful to me because I treat them well, and they treat me well. I liked the rooms very much, they've got a beautiful dining area, a sitting room right off in the dining area, they've got a fireplace and a big TV screen and table set up where you can have family in and have your own private meal there with your family. They have a refrigerator there that you could share. They have cooking shows of people that are able to participate in, maybe making cookies or something like that. They had a Christmas tree at Christmastime, and everybody helped decorate it. They decorated according to all the holidays. For the ones confined to the room, they give you activity books, puzzles, crayons, pentel, and a paper case if you want to have notes."

"The Jefferson was gorgeous. The staff was fantastic. We visited it a couple of times, so we had more interactions with the staff. The person who was giving us the tour was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. We also got to talk with other members of the staff who were very impressive. We were invited to a dinner and the food was delicious. We saw the swimming pool, some exercise classes, and briefings that were going on from visiting scholars. It's smaller than the other place, so there's not as much there, but we liked that because it seemed more personal. The food was excellent."

"I found the Paragon Assisted Living Potomac House Communities for my father. It's a group home. He moved in and he loves it -- the best place he's ever lived. This was perfect for him. The staff is great, my father feels very special there, it's very small, only eight residents, so it's very individualized. It's like they really care. He has the same, consistent people all the time. They have a chef who comes in every day and prepares the food. It's a brand-new facility, it's not even a year old. It's well-maintained. They clean the room every day. They have nice, big, open hallways. They have minimal activities, and they could probably do better for people who have the ability to do stuff. They're a great alternative to a bigger facility."

"We toured Golden Rule Plaza, and I liked everything. It's a secure building. The apartment complex was very clean. They have laundry facilities on every floor. The kitchen and the bathrooms were humongous and already set up for safety care, like with the safety bars for the elderly, and wheelchair accessible. The apartment was very well-lit, and sunlight came through the windows. Their appliances were upgraded and very nice. Everybody's door has a doorbell. It's just beautiful. The area is perfect because you're minutes from everything: the bus line, shopping, and grocery stores. It's right next door to one of the largest and oldest churches in Washington, D.C., and it's across the street from a library. You can't get any better than that. It's worth the pay. The range of the rent is perfect. Naomi was nice and wonderful. She showed us the one-bedroom, which was very nice and spacious, and the laundry facilities. She was very knowledgeable and great. Everybody was just wonderful. They were very nice and kind. They have ample parking, a nice parking lot, and a circular driveway. All the handicapped vehicles have MetroAccess, which comes right through the door and picks you up. They have a wonderful lobby sitting area and a sitting area on every floor, and they have vending machines on every floor as well."

"The rooms are very spacious! I am looking for a 1 bedroom for just myself. I don’t want a lot of space, but rooms are great sizes. The area has almost everything you need shopping, dinning, church, entertainment, home improvement supplies,metro and parking. At the time I visited the building was quiet, I’m sure there are times when it’s not. But I live inside my apartment. That doesn’t bother me. I like the apartment. I’m still looking but this may be it!!! Take the tour!!!"

"The Virginian was very nice, but we thought it was a little expensive. It's a beautiful facility. They had great facilities, too. They're just really wonderful. However, we were not happy with the floor plans we looked at. They had a small kitchen area, but we need a little bit more kitchen space than that. They don't have cottages; they're just apartments. The activities were great. They had a beautiful range of activities. The staff was very nice and very accommodating. We enjoyed our visit there, but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. It's a couple of thousand a month more than most of the places we looked at. I would love to be there. However, it's a little far away from where we wanted to be. It's half an hour from the doctors, which is not good."

"We could not be happier with the choice of Chesterbrook Residences for my mother-in-law. Moving her from her long-time (50 years!) home in WV to an assisted living residence more than 100 miles away was one of the most difficult things we - and she - have ever had to do. Today, she says (and often) that if she can't continue living at home, she would want to live at Chesterbrook. Compared with several other places we had visited, the place was alive! Residents were engaged in activity. The dining room is like a restaurant. The staff (ALL the staff, from the executive director to the janitorial staff) are unfailingly friendly and gracious. The facility is filled with light. The environs are peaceful, quiet, and tree-filled. The food is delicious. There are more expensive places out there, but truly none of them could be better for our loved one than Chesterbrook. "

"Rainier Manor is excellent, and it's a really good community. I was impressed with the place. They have nice facilities. I have nothing negative to say about it. The staff greeted me well and the person who showed me around also did well. They answered all my questions, there was a nice exchange, and it made it easy to enjoy the visit. They showed me the older and new facilities, and both were nice. I also saw the 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments, they were nice. It's easy to picture yourself in there, although I would prefer if they were larger."
