"The tour I did at University Pines in Pensacola was really nice. It was very informative. I saw the independent living. The staff was great. When I had questions, they showed me everything. They tried to make sure they didn't forget anything, which they didn't. The staff itself was really great. The buildings were nice. They were just a little older than I thought they would be. I like the openness when you come in and the levels. I thought it was very clean too."

"My sister will move into The Arbors of Gulf Breeze. The proximity was the major deciding factor. In addition to being so close and convenient and having a full range of services, the overall presentation was the best. They were the brightest, and they smelled the best. The smell was popcorn and fried chicken, generally positive. They've been very helpful and friendly. The whole facility is fairly new, clean, and bright. It has that feeling of being recently built. Our location is very good. We're on the ground floor. She's very well located for easy access to the dining area. The gym is right across the hall from her. The library is three doors down the corridor. That aspect seems very positive."

"Lucas Creek Apartments is close to some nice shopping and is in an area that appears to be a safe neighborhood. They cater to seniors with activities. They offer washers and dryers for the units. It's fairly new. It's probably less than three years old at this point. The lobby area was really nice. It had a very nice decor and was very clean. They had a vegetable garden, a gazebo, and a pet park. It's really pretty. They offer bingo and the traditional activities with some extra things, too (like indoor Frisbee and some type of painting). I met Tabitha, the manager. I also met Vanessa, the assistant manager. They both have been extremely helpful with this process (from the application, to just some of the other logistics because my mom's moving from out of town). They've been accommodating and flexible. I've asked a lot of questions and am constantly emailing. They get back to me."

"My mother is currently at WHV in Pensacola and I wouldn't want her anywhere else. The staff is the best and the administrator goes out of her way to make sure everyone has what he or she needs. My mother was sent to the hospital a month or so ago. Because I'm not local, I tried to call for information about her condition but they wouldn't release it. On top of that, they told Mom that she would have to go to a skilled nursing center rather than home to WHV. The administrator drove to the hospital herself and spoke with them and Mom to find out what my mother wanted to do. An hour later, Mom was back in her apartment at WHV. Also, Mom broke her foot one weekend. Again, since I'm not local, I wasn't able to be there with her. The administrator sat with her in the hospital for six(?) hours before they released Mom at 10pm. On a final note, when I'm in town, I actually sleep there so I see first-hand the level of service and care. No one could possibly care for these people more. Trust me, this place is THE best! "

"I went to Veranda of Pensacola. They have independent and assisted living. They're very nice, very helpful, and very sweet. They have one, and two-bedroom apartments. Some of them have a small patio that's screened in. It's very clean. It had a very welcoming atmosphere when you first walked in. They have social hours. They have a very nice looking dining room, and they serve three meals a day. The chef has been there since 2009, so they have a stable staff. Sandy, the manager, has experience in geriatric care, and she is a nurse. The first two levels are independent and the third level is assisted living. They have physical therapy rehab there, a beautiful indoor pool, a very small putting green, a gazebo, a little walking path with koi ponds, a craft room, chair yoga, a small library, and a movie theater, and that's where they do the church as well as hold meetings. They have a beauty parlor there. Everybody seemed very warm, friendly, and inviting. There were some ladies playing cards, and they invited us to sit down and play. The apartments were about a little over 600 square feet. They're one-bedroom, one-bath, with a full kitchen and a living room. The only thing they did not have is a washer and dryer in the actual apartment. They had a washer dryer at the end of each hallway. I like that you could move up to assisted living from the independent living. It's just one floor up. The manager was very supportive. She sent my mother a whole bunch of information and pictures. She's very welcoming. The grounds were very pretty."

"I liked Homestead Village of Pensacola because there are not so many people and I've never liked a crowd of people. I just don't enjoy myself when there are too many people. The cottages are small as 8 to 10 people in a cottage instead of 180. It was very nice. It's laid out more like a little town. It has flowers and shrubs, but no animals, which is a bad thing because I have a dog. The staff during the tour was very nice. The services are what you'd expect for the amount that you pay. I didn't observe any activities, but they gave me a pamphlet that described them. The rooms were nice. They're not modern like the new expensive ones. You get what you pay for. They're adequate."
