The Best Independent Living Communities in Saint Tammany Parish, LA

"The Windsor is very nice, and everybody seems to be quite happy there; the only reason I'm not considering it is because they don't take animals, and I have a little dog I can't leave. It's not as new and spacious, but it's certainly serviceable, and I have quite a few friends who live there who are happy with it. The food was very good. Aside from the luncheon that I attended, they cooked specifically for us. They did not even charge the lady who lived there. This particular time, my friend chose to have lunch at her facility, and it couldn't have been nicer. They went all out on the table decorations, cooking the food, and serving us. It was lovely, and they didn't charge us anything. The apartment that my friend lived in was very nice, and it had one bedroom. The lobby is not all that attractive, and it looks a little bit older. I think the front part of the facility could use a little "fluffing up," but the rest of the facility looks just as fine. It may not be as luxurious-looking, but it's a lot older. I think that the people who lived there seem to be very content and happy. It certainly offers sufficient living quarters, and I know they have activities all the time. "

"I went and checked out Azalea Estates of Slidell. It's very nice and it's small. It's more like a family because it's not a large facility. It is older because it was Slidell's first, but it's very nice. It's right next door to a Methodist church, and my mother-in-law is Methodist. So it's convenient because the church works with them and has activities and things for the ladies, like their lunch and prayer get-togethers. The lady that I spoke with was not the director, because I went there on a Sunday, but she was very, very nice. She took the time to tell me about all of the activities and things there. They take them to Walmart once a week, she can keep her car there if she likes, and pretty much come and go as she pleases. They take them to their doctor's appointments. They have a library real close so they can bring them to the library. They have bingo, and I believe they have something going on just about every day. I saw one of the 1-bedroom suites."

"It was very nice. The room wasn't an apartment but it was still nicely done. The only reason we didn't go to them is because they couldn't accommodate Mom with her e-cigarette. It turned out that we went to high school with the person who was doing the interviewing and showing us around, so we already had a connection with her. She was very sweet. She introduced us to anybody that was out and about, but I didn't see the care people much. They had a mini theater, which was very cute. They had people come in and do talks with the residents or come play music for them on a regular basis. They had two separate dining rooms. It was very well appointed."

"Sage Lake Senior Living at Covington is a beautiful place to live. There are lots of areas to socialize. There are lots of activities for people who can do it. They have religious services, arts and crafts, and bingo. They keep residents very involved. Everybody is extremely nice and pleasant. No attitude. I tried the food, and it was delicious. The facility is beautifully decorated. There are chandeliers and a gorgeous dining area. The rooms are nice and clean. Everybody is well taken care of. They have church and take them shopping if they want to, but my mom hasn't done that. They take them to Walmart or Target occasionally if they want to go. As for value for money, I was paying much more at another place and this one is much nicer."
