"The Christwood at Covington was a very beautiful but outrageously expensive place. It was a huge property. They had the regular type facilities and apartment building and they had individualized garden homes. They had activities in a small area. The food was okay. "

"My mother was admitted here and was having acute dementia and we had Power of Attorney. I was notified confidentially (due to fear of losing her job ) by one of her caregivers within the facility that she witnessed my mother being sexually assaulted by another resident. After questioning my mother, my worst fears came true as my mother was able to recall that this did occur on multiple occasions. I quickly transferred my mother out of this facility and called a meeting with the Director of nursing and the nurse manager regarding these incidents. Myself and my fiancée’, upon confronting this, my severely demented mother consented to this, although she was very confused to the point where she didn’t understand that what happened to her what was wrong! But she was able to recall that this residents had AIDS! After I became upset and explained this to the DON, she DID advise me that my mothers physician was notified by telephone. However, when I requested for my mothers sexual assault to be reported to the police , I was advised that that would not be happening!!!After receiving my mother’s medical records., it was very clear that not only was my mother’s doctor not notified, my mother being raped was not even documented! It sickens me that even something as severe as this is hidden from family and MD’s! If you love your family at all, pls do NOT use this place!!!!! They should be in prison! I will never heal from the trauma this place has caused my family!"

"My brother has been at Good Samaritan Living Center for 2 yrs. The staff is friendly and helpful to the residents and welcoming to visitors and families. The facility is bright, clean and offers group exercises and skilled P.T. I enjoy bringing my brother to a delightful secured, enclosed garden/patio area to visit but there are also several large areas for families & friends. My favorite time to visit is right before lunchtime. The air is filled with the smell of a delicious home cooked meal of the day. I wish my brother was healthy enough to still live in his own home but Good Samaritan follows God’s command and takes good care of my brother."

"My mother is at Heritage Manor of Mandeville. They have the usual problems that nursing homes have, like not putting her belongings in front of her where she can reach them. They tend to come in and leave them across the room. It's also difficult to get through to talk to a nurse. Sometimes, they are too busy to talk, and most of the time they don't call you back. My mother does have a nice room with a nice view. Her biggest complaint is that they don't answer her call light. We had to talk to the administration about the long response time. They also tend to lose her clothes. We can't have that because they're expensive. She likes the food, though, and she says the food is good. Most of the feedback I get is from my brother because he goes there on a daily basis. He is making a list of things that he wants to bring up to them. When you go out of the hall, there's nobody there, or they're all gathered in the hall talking and not responding. However, my mother is helpless, and she can't do anything for herself. Some people are good and nice. It's just that you have to stay on top of them. The facility itself is rundown. They're building a new one, but I don't know if my mother will be here with us by the time it's finished. She had an old, dirty chair in her room that was disgusting, so we had to get it removed. There are also holes in the walls, and it needs painting. Her room could have been better. I don't think the value is there, not for $8100 a month. She is paying for that out of her pocket."

"We did not like Trinity Trace Community Care Center. They weren't there enough for my father and they didn't give him enough therapy. The food was OK, but some of it was not. The physical appearance of the facility was nice, but the coffee machines and the ice cream machines were always broken. He'd press the red button and they'd come in a half an hour later. Many times, they just were sitting in the cafeteria talking, or on the phones and laughing. I'd have to go out into the cafeteria to go get someone."

"My mom is at Pontchartrain Health Care Center. So far, I've been very pleased with it. They're good staff. The people seem like they care about the patients. She has only been there a short time, but we are pleased with it. The food is okay. She's not making any complaints about it. They have activities and everything for them. I would commend the staff very highly."
