"My mom has been there for over a year. We believe God put it there for us. Facility is nice, her apartment is spacious, and handicapped accessible, the food is good for institution food, but the personnel is what makes us love it. Erika and Sheila stand out as loving caregivers(some are better than others). Gloria greets me with a smile every time I walk in (and I go frequently), the gentleman (I forgot his name) that transports the residents tries to accommodate them, and make sure they’re safe. Many activities, parties, crafts, etc. Different levels of assistance available. Nothing’s perfect, but it’s a good place for our mom. "

"Avanti is brand new, but they don't have a lot of things outdoors because they don't have much land. Everything is on one level. They have an exercise room, a beauty parlor, a massage place, and a library. I'm getting ready to go there. I wanted a 2-bedroom, but the living room is very small. The person who assisted me was excellent. The food was very good."

"We had our mother at Live Oak. It was clean. She had a private apartment with a kitchen that had a refrigerator and sink. They served three meals a day in the dining room and had activities to keep them going. They had a doctor that visited on a regular basis and was on-call, but residents do not have to use that doctor; they could use a different doctor. They have a lady who is an independent contractor, and they let her use a room where she did pedicures, manicures, and hair. There were volunteers that came in to do things. For what they offered compared to other agencies that offered the same things, they had the best price. I thought they were OK. My mom was in the assisted living with a code to go in and out which was good since because of her illness, she could be wandering and get lost. My grandmother was also there, and I would recommend it to others. I would bring Mom back there if I had to because it's the only one in the city I live in that has assisted living. It's a pretty good location. "

"My parents will be moving into The Phoenix at Hammond. It is a beautiful place. It's like a five-star hotel, and it's brand new. The rooms are set up, and floor plans are awesome. The staff seemed like they were awesome. It's just very, very inviting. We all had a mask on. They don't have any outbreaks. They go there once a week and test the resonance. Everything looks super clean in there."

"I did a tour of The Peristyle at Beau West, and it was very nice. It was more informal. They have the memory care and assisted living people all live in the same general area. It was very nice out there; that's even more country than any other places that I looked at. I seriously had considered just stopping in there because that was the first place I visited, and I liked it so much. It's across the lake, which is a 24-mile bridge to get from the suburbs where I live to Mandeville. It's all mixed there. They don't get separated out, although they have areas that are more for memory care. It was really nice. It's a little concerning that I didn't know what specifically they were doing for just memory care, although the atmosphere there does seem so positive. I almost stopped looking after I saw them. If they had been on this side of the 24-mile bridge, I probably would have just gone with them right off the bat because I like it so much. It's in a beautiful area. It's even more country than any of the other areas I've described, because it's outside of the cities in the small city of Mandeville; it's just a really beautiful place. In fact, I would live there if I could have. Now that I've retired, I would consider moving over there. But that 24-mile bridge, a lot of people who work in New Orleans do live over there and commute, but I couldn't handle that, so I never did move. New Orleans have a lot of problems based on the fact that we are below sea level. Once you cross a bridge, you're heading North, and you're getting a little bit higher elevation. So, it has a totally different feel to it all together, and I really responded to that."

"It was very nice. The assisted living is definitely the way to go for the elderly. It looked like it was restaurant style when they went to eat. They had a bar and a library. It was a very nice facility. The tenants looked happy there. What I didn't see was the day-to-day care, like help to the bathroom and help getting dressed. I didn't see that there, but they said it exists because everyone had their own room. But as for assisted living and for people more independent, it looked ideal. The staff looked very caring and very attentive, and they interacted with all the tenants. Clearly, people are loved and welcomed. The facility was very clean. They have a restaurant-style dining area. It was topnotch."
