The Personal Care Home has become the preferred model of care in assisted living. The intimate setting and limited number of residents allows for each caregiver to become personally familiar with the capabilities, limitations, needs and personality of each resident. Not only does this result in a more comfortable, supportive and respectful home for each resident, it translates into better protective oversight and assistance. It also allows for residents to better acclimate to their surroundings and their caregivers.
Fidelis Residential Care Homes is owned and operated by 3 Registered Nurses with over 55 years of ER and Senior Care experience. It was formed to provide affordable, safe, and comfortable living accommodations with 24-hour personal care for our elderly community without sacrificing the warm feeling of home.
Regulated by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, our small assisted living facilities may care for those individuals who, because of the aging process or physical frailty, may no longer be able to live safely at home, but who do not need nor desire a more institutional setting, such as a skilled nursing facility.
While many residents choose Fidelis simply because they want a smaller setting, others with physical limitations (such as difficulty walking, or those with medical conditions that require close monitoring) also thrive here. Some residents may have had recent hospital stays or are completing physical therapy after an injury or operation. Until complete recovery, additional service such as physical therapy or home health care can be arranged to assist them as needed.

My dad was at Fidelis for a short period of time. He was only there for three days, and he passed away. It was not a real good experience. We moved in on a weekend and we had medication issues, meds not being available to him that he needed, and some issues with the level of care that he needed. He needed a high level of care, and we didn't get a lot of people coming in, checking on him and turning him and things like that, which is why we went there. They're called care homes. It's more like a nursing home atmosphere. The owners were very nice. It was a weekend, so the staff seemed a little bit disjointed. He required a lot of care, and I was there with him, and I know the exact amount of times they came in. So, I would have to come and go get him. I don't think that was the place he needed to be. I can't say anything about the food because he wasn't eating at the time. What the other residents were having looked good, but he needed to be fed. He was on like a liquid diet, boost, and soft foods. I'm trying to get some money back from them right now, since he was only there three days. It seemed to be a good place, but not for somebody that needed a high level of care. It's not recommended for someone requiring a high level of care.

Fidelis Northshorez II was a little bit newer than the other place we looked at, and it was gorgeous. The exterior was beautiful, and the inside was wonderful. The owner was great. My experience with them was five-stars. It was different from a commercial, larger place, but that's what I liked about it. It was great. I was impressed.
