We sort of liked The Arbors of Gulf Breeze, but it was too small. My husband would need assisted living, and we would have had to be in a different area. I didn't like being split like that because I'm not ready for assistant care, so I felt like it would probably drag me down being living in that kind of area. They had some kind of aroma going in there that I was highly allergic to. I had a horrible headache the rest of the day after being in there. I don't know if it's running through their air conditioner system or what, but it was way too strong for me. It hit me in the face when we walked in the door. They showed us the dining room, and it was just fine. They order off the menu. They had a game room. The staff member immediately told us that she doesn't normally come in on Saturdays, but she was there for us, and we were late getting there, so she was good.

I visited The Arbors of Gulf Breeze. They had a beautiful courtyard. A lot of concierge services. They encourage people to do as much as they can, versus doing things for them, and they could do their laundry if they wanted to. They were very helpful. The executive director was very informative and she showed me everything I needed to see.

The Arbors of Gulf Breeze was nice and clean. It was in a very nice neighborhood and close to shopping. It was top-notch. It is just a little overpriced, and it's out of our budget range. They had washer and dryer options in the unit, and they had meals in their nice little dining hall. People decorated outside their doors, and it seemed to be a nice community. The manager that gave us the tour was great. My mom has some mobility issues, and the manager was wonderful and very patient. The front desk was not so great. The person there was a little odd, did a lot of staring, and made my mother uncomfortable. The rooms seemed spacious though. They had a balcony/porch depending on what floor, and that was nice.

The Arbors of Gulf Breeze was great. The food smells really good when you walk in the door. The executive director took us on a tour and she was very good. The accommodations were nice. I looked at the one-bedrooms, and it had washer-dryer, refrigerator, and stove. It just doesn't have any other furniture. You have to bring your own. They had a church, an exercise room, and a reading room as well. They had everything, except a pool. They gave me chicken and dumplings to go and they were awesome.

The Arbors of Gulf Breeze was beautiful and well decorated. The staff was very nice. The facility was very nice and updated. They had full kitchens. They have games for the people and happy hour. The living atmosphere was very nice. The only downside was they had very little greenery, very little yard even on the whole grounds. They didn't have a lot of green space and they are a lot more expensive than the other facility.

I visited The Arbors of Gulf Breeze. It is very clean. It wasn't as welcoming, and the lady who I talked to, we had to pull information out of her. She was not very forthcoming with information. They were a little bit cheaper, and they don't have the emergency response system. You have to purchase one yourself. We did get a chance to see the exercise room. You can age in place there, because not only do they have independent living, they also have assisted living, and a nursing home; all three in different parts of the building. I don't know the words to describe it, but it just wasn't welcoming to me. The staff were pleasant. The rooms are really nice. She showed us the apartment, it was a nice studio-type. She wasn't giving us information; she wasn't sharing with us. She wasn't selling the place to us, basically, to say, "Yeah, come here, and this is what we can do." She didn't do that with us. The dining area was very nice. It was set up really pretty. We did not get a chance to try any food; the meals were being served at the time that we were there, nor were we invited to come back to try it, but they do have snacks throughout the common areas and whatnot. When we got there, there were ladies that had just finished up playing bingo, so they do have an activity room where they can play bingo, and do artwork, and stuff like that.

I went to The Arbors of Gulf Breeze. The rooms were absolutely gorgeous. It was more like luxury independent living. They had marble countertops and a full kitchen. There was a screened-in patio for every unit and a tiled full walk-in shower. The facility was stunning. The person who gave the tour was very helpful, and she gave us a lot of information. It didn't give us that community feeling. It felt formal going through with her. Their dining area was a little smaller. My impression is the residents eat whenever they want to. Because the rooms have a full kitchen, some of the residents don't even have to come down for mealtimes. That cuts down the community aspect a little bit. They had a lot of family activities, like they have a little bar area for people to have drinks and stuff. They have card games. It just all felt a little more formal and maybe perhaps not utilized as much because it's how the rooms were designed. The rooms are so nice, sometimes it might be you don't want to leave the room; you just occupy yourself in your room.

I went to The Arbors of Gulf Breeze, and I was unhappy with some of their rules. Right now, I'm on the borderline of either independent or assisted living. One reason I was considering the assisted living was at times I get dizzy, and I have propensity to fall and can't get up. I asked, if I was in independent living and I had a fall where I couldn't get up, is there someone I could call? Is there someone on staff to help me get up, and their answer was no. In independent living, staff can't go in your room. You would have to call 911. I said, "You mean I can't even call a CNA just to get me on my feet?" "No sir, you can't." So, I just crossed The Arbors off my list right then. I toured both independent and assisted living. Assisted living was nice, and I liked it. Some rooms were nice, but some rooms had a very ugly view. All you can see out your window is the roof of another building. I had trouble getting them to give me even an idea of what the assisted living add-ons would cost (like laundry and medications). They said they would have to coordinate with my doctor to come up with a number for that. I can't even get an idea of how much it would cost. Without that information, I can't make an informed decision. That day they were having a 4th of July cookout, so I had a hotdog. It was good.

I went to see The Arbors of Gulf Breeze. The community and the rooms I saw were very spacious enough and very clean. I just thought they were a bit overpriced, but other than that, it was nice. The staff was great too. The place was open. I walked past where they were having lunch and the place was very open, it's a nice place.

I checked out The Arbors of Gulf Breeze, but they're not continuing care. It's a very nice independent living facility and the price is pretty reasonable. Anybody who decides to go there has to realize that they can't stay there if they think they need more care. The apartments were very nice, although I was only able to see one. It's owned by the Roman Catholic church. The apartments are very nice. They took my temperature and we wore face masks.
