"I visited The Chateau at Harveston. I like the people who invited us there. I didn't like the food very much at that time, but they said they changed the chef. We might visit again because I like the place and it's beautiful. They showed us a one-bedroom apartment, which was nice and comfortable. They also had two-bedroom units and studios. They didn't have too many facilities, just a small gym and arts and crafts. They served three meals a day, and they could do your laundry or you do it yourself. Anne, the person who gave us the tour, was very nice, and I liked her very much."

"I was impressed with Brookdale Sunwest because it was really well maintained and quite beautiful. If I still needed a place, I would consider it. The upkeep was pretty immaculate. I was pleasantly surprised because Hemet is known for being a very nice place and it was just a gorgeous place. They have different levels. They had separate little villas, and they had the apartments in the building. The grounds were all beautiful. Everyone was very nice, attentive, and concerned with getting us the best place possible. They're very helpful."

"One of the facilities that I visited was Westmont Village. I found it to be a beautiful community, the equal of any town or village in Southern California. It's just gorgeous with beautiful homes. It used to be Airforce Village West. They had a lot of military officers living there. Now it's got a lot of seniors, it's got apartments in there, and it's got all kinds of comprehensive care if you need it. The freestanding homes are gorgeous, and you can just live independently if you want to. I was very impressed except for a couple of things. It's too quiet. It's almost as quiet as the funeral next door. A lot of people would not consider that a flaw, but a benefit. You could hear a pin drop walking down the street. The other thing is me and my attitude. I'm going to be 80 years old in a year and a half or so, and I have no right to feel this way. But I go in there and on these tours and I'm looking around the people and it is a sea of elderly people, and I don't feel like I'm in that demographic, even though I very much am. I'm too young for that kind of a place, but I'm just going to have to get used to it. I'm probably older than a lot of those people, but I'm looking at it and I feel like I'm looking at a lot of grandpa and grandma, and I'm not one of them, but I am. So it's a bit attitude on my part. I didn't go into the memory care building, but I saw them from the outside. I mostly visited independent living and maybe assisted living. The people were very, very nice. If I were to go anywhere at this point, it would probably be Westmont Village. I thought it was a wonderful place. It's spotless. The staff is all wonderful. They were very, very nice and accommodating."

"My father moved to The Camelot. It is a good place. They have three options every day for each meal. It is very clean and very inviting. They have a beautiful dining room to eat in. They have game areas, a gym, a library, and a chapel. Somebody comes into the apartment at least once a week to do light housekeeping. They have a lot of activities. They just did a Renaissance fair for Halloween. They also do happy hours and coffee time, and they play games. They have a van that works from 8 in the morning to 4:30 in the afternoon that takes the residents around the area to do grocery shopping or go to their bank or anything they need to do. They're available to take them during the day. So, the activities are great. The person who's in charge of it is very energetic. She tries to involve everybody, lets everybody know what they are getting ready to have, and encourages them to participate. They are very kind, very caring, and very helpful. Their rate is better than most places I checked because most places cited at least $3500 a month, and The Camelot is $2300 a month. You can either have a one bedroom or a single. They have their own space and it makes them feel like they're more independent even though they have the help they need."

"Atria provided such wonderful care and assistance to our Mom. The staff always gave her the attention she needed with a smile and a kind word. I can not say enough about how great they were for our family. Five stars is not enough. "

"I went to Citrus Place. I put a deposit down. I love the place. Mom and Dad will move in at the end of the month. I walked in and the people that I saw that lived there all looked nice and neat. There was a group hanging out watching TV. I like the security there. Whoever designed the place, knew what they were doing. It was aesthetically pleasing and very relaxing. The place is spic and span. Right off the bat, I looked, and I thought, 'Yeah, this looks nice.' The staff so far is excellent, and I just like the whole setup. I thought I was lucky to get my parents in. My dad needs the care, and my mom can stay with him, and he'll have the necklace. When he needs something, there's an aide on his aisle, and they'll come and help him. My understanding is that they're very quick and so that's what I'm looking for. My mom needs a break, but they need to be together because my dad would be lost without her. This allows, I think, the best of both worlds. The staff was extremely helpful. I like the setup that they'll be able to get up, get dressed, and go down and have their breakfast, and in that setting, I thought, this would be good for my parents to get up and go down the hall. Another thing I like, my dad is a veteran, and they have a veteran wall of all the veterans that currently live there. And as they passed on, they don't take the pictures down, they raise them above, so they're higher. These guys and women have passed on, but they're still being honored, and I like that."

"We love it. It is very clean and very nice. It is also in a really good location. My mom and my step father have a private room. It is not huge, but is it a good size for them. Mom says most of the meals are very good. The dining area is pretty and spacious. They have a bunch of activities like bingo, going to the casino, cooking classes, arts and crafts, and bible studies. The staff has been very accommodating. "

"Estancia Del Sol is very nice, clean, and well decorated. You feel like you're at a resort. The rooms were clean. I really liked the floor plans. It looked like it would be easy to navigate. I felt like even if my mom and dad were both using their walkers, it would be easy to navigate without too much gridlock. When you walk in the bathroom, even if you have a walker, the path is very clear to get to the sink or to get to the toilet. The person who helped me during the tour was very nice, very friendly, and informative. They have a library with books and a theater area for movies. There's an actual room devoted to that with theater seating, and some extra rooms so people could sit in wheelchairs, too. They have a little place where you could go and get your coffee or snacks. They have goodies like cookies and baked goods that you can get there."

"We moved my wife's grandmother in yesterday. The place is great. They have good amenities, a small library, food, transportation, and lots of events. The staff members are very friendly. Dining is restaurant-style. The apartment is spacious and large. They have a whole host of ever-changing events with weekly trips."

"My mother-in-law is back in Park Terrace. Her room has a garden view and is close to the beauty shop. The staff is very good and put her in a very nice situation, so she is very happy. There's a regular dining room and a bistro with several options for meals, and the food is very good. I will highly recommend it. "

"We felt comfortable at Golden Oaks. My father has eaten there a couple of times, and he liked the food; that is actually why he wants to move there. The only complaint he has with the room is that it is small, but he has been living in a house his whole life, so everything seems small. The staff people were very pleasant; they were great. We looked at several places, but this one he felt more comfortable with in several different aspects, and I think it will work out well for him. "

"We found Mission Commons for my dad. The main reason we chose it was because of the atmosphere. It's an independent/assisted living facility as supposed to a fully assisted side. This allowed him to feel like he was going into a community. It had an up-atmosphere for him. The facility is very clean too. The staff is excellent and attentive. They seemed to respond pretty well, and Dad is very pleased with the way the staff tends to him. His room is on the ground floor, and it looks out on a grass area, and we feel that we were really blessed to get him in there. The meals were OK. I can't say it's gourmet, but I can say it's sufficient. He seems to be OKwith it. They have activities, like they have church on Sunday, and they have activities throughout the week, and I think every day they have something going on. "

"Corona RCFE was very nice, and the people were very friendly. The grounds were good. The room is perfect for my mother who is 92. She just needs a room with a little bed, a chair, and a TV. That's all she needs. It looks like she can go out and go to the dining room area, and things like that, and they have those things available too. The staff who helped me was very friendly and answered all the questions. She was very good. I didn't sample the food, but the dining area was fine. For activities, they have a little room where people can go and they can meet with each other and play games and so on, so that's fine."
