"The rooms are pretty nice, and the private rooms are really spacious. The rooms where you share are a pretty good size, and they’re roomy enough. The rooms are like little apartments. The staff is helpful. They do like karaoke, they do some activities, and they do sing. They do little party gatherings for them. They are always doing something. The food looks pretty good, and they seem to be enjoying it. The dining area is really nice, and it’s big enough for a family to come and join in with their love ones. For security, you just can’t get in and out. "

"I came by to look at this facility on belalf of my elderly mom. I really liked the staff they were caring and helpful. I was also impressed with the cleanlyness of the facility. When the time comes this is the place I will bring her. "

"Brookdale Sunwest is perfect for my mother. The thing that sold us on Brookdale was that she could garden, because they have little plots and wood boxes. The place was neat and clean, and they had very spacious rooms. We like the affordability too. They have a movie room, a library, and I saw a couple of people in the dining room area; it wasn't packed. We also visited another community, but Brookdale Sunwest really fits Mom like a glove. The staff member who helped us during the tour was very friendly. I liked the fact that they had assisted living, and across the courtyard where they can do gardening is the independent living. They drive you to your appointments, or if they go on outings."

"My mom moved in, and she likes it. They have a lot of activities. The food is good. It is beautiful for my mom. I don't have to worry about it as far as transportation. The staff is good. They're very hospitable, helpful, and seem to be patient. I love their food. They have exercise, yoga, a theater, movies, and a pool table. My mom is doing pretty good interacting with people. The only thing we don't like is that they can't wash their clothes at any time of day because housekeeping uses the washing machine. I like their system of serving, which seems very military."

"I'll be at Altavita (Formerly known as Air Force Village West) in the next couple of days. We chose them because they have a good reputation. I used to live in this area, so I knew people that were there. The atmosphere was terrific. They helped me with everything that I needed. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The dining area was very clean and pleasant."

"I went there with the Girl Scouts. My daughter is a Girl Scout and they wanted to show how the elderly could be cared for in a special Alzheimer's unit that they have in Park Terrace. I thought it was very clean, nice, and comfortable, especially for the Alzheimer's patients. The staff were pretty friendly. The residents seem happy. "

"Arcadia Place is one of the places I really liked. The one that they showed me was a studio on the ground floor and it had an exterior door to the parking lot. For me, this would be very good. It had water damage though, and it's not going to be available for another month to 90 days. It's just one of the few that they have there, but it's a very large area for that type of place. It has a little kitchenette, which is good. It's about 500 square feet, which is a pretty good size for one room. The other thing is there's a zero community fee. There are no additional charges, but the cost is a little high for me. It's $2700. The staff was very good. I didn't get the person that I initially talked to, but that worked out OK. The manager showed me the place, but when I called him back about availability, that's when they told me that they had water damage. A lot of other people were affected as well, so they have to do some repair. The cleanliness and structure of the building were very good. You walk into kind of like the initial area right there. It's like a meeting room, and there are offices along the way, and then on the ground floor, there's a large community room and the eating area, which is kind of restaurant style."

"I enjoyed seeing it yesterday and they have openings. It looks like a nice facility. The staff was very friendly and informative. The facility was very nice, very clean, very spacious, had good lighting, and a very friendly atmosphere. The staff seemed very caring, too, in terms of the interactions that I saw with the seniors that were there. I toured the memory facility. They have all the different levels of care there. They were just getting ready to have some afternoon entertainment. The DJ was setting up and the residents seemed to be very anticipatory and excited for it to happen like they seemed to look forward to it. Walking through, everyone seemed well cared for, well-groomed, and well attended to. The staff ratio I didn't think was the highest, but it wasn't the lowest either. I think it was like three staff members for 26 or 27 residents at that time that were there continually. I also felt very confident and secure in their memory care section because it's all locked and alarmed, but at the same time, it didn't feel claustrophobic like the residents were stuck in one area, because they were free to roam out in the garden. There's an area outside to sit where they bring dogs to pet on certain days of the week. I enjoyed seeing their calendar of events because they have something scheduled for them that is unique each day. It's not just being sat in front of a TV or not having things to do. If they want to participate, it seemed like there are a lot of enriching activities that they could participate in. That made me feel slightly more comfortable with the idea of being in a facility because my mom is still pretty cognizant of what's going on. I was so worried that she'd be so bored there, but it seems like they have so many things to do. The staff seemed very accommodating and very knowledgeable, they answered all my questions, and they were very efficient. The person that was supposed to tour us wasn't there, but they had someone else step right in and she was very knowledgeable. It wasn't like, "Oh, I don't know the answer to that question. That's not my department." She knew everything and she knew all the residents too, even though she's not really on the floor so much. She was from a different department. I did see the meal they were having and it looked good. I did read their menu for the month, and it seemed like a good variety and they cater to the seniors' sweet tooth, which I know my mom would be so excited about. They have an ice cream bar."

"I have chosen The Hacienda Mission San Luis Rey. I haven't moved in, but I have made a commitment to do so. I like it. It was the best one I have seen. It is close to the ocean, which I appreciate. It's in California, so the weather's terrific. The people I met there were very friendly. There are a lot of activities. There are all kinds of water aerobics, Tai Chi, and regular exercise. There is a learning center, as well as other activities like arts and crafts. There are four restaurants, and my apartment will have a full kitchen. I like to cook, so that's important to me. The food was wonderful, too. The other residents are very friendly and very nice, and I like that."

"My sister-in-law is staying at Everest at Oceanside. It seems nice. The new owners are very open. They have an excellent full-time nurse, who's been very helpful with my sister-in-law's family. My sister-in-law is very Catholic, and so they offer communion services once a week and spiritual as well as physical kinds of things, and, of course, a lot of social socialization is offered. So those are good things. They have activities all the time. Everything's posted well. They have all sorts of things, from people coming into the game day to movie night to luau parties. They do a lot. They have suites and studio apartments, and my sister-in-law has a studio apartment. It has a small refrigerator and a microwave."

"My husband moved to MorningStar of Mission Viejo. The interior organization there, they communicate well with each other. The management style is excellent. They communicate well between each department, so it's a very soft touch, but they pay attention to the information about their clients. The facility is great. It's interesting. It's a small building. It's not one of the biggest, most extravagant buildings that I've seen, but the staff is great. The food is amazing. The food is excellent. They do a good job there. My husband is a little reserved. He's not quite interested in that part of things, but it looks like they have a lot going on. They have an outreach program where they're working with the Saddleback Emeritus programming, and they're introducing some classes at their facility through Emeritus."

"It was really nice and pretty modern. My uncle would have loved going there. They had a veterans club and a lot of activities. I liked the rooms. They were very clean and open. I liked the staff, too. They were extremely nice. Then they had a dining area that was pretty big and pretty nice. They displayed the food that they were going to be serving for the next meal, which I think was great, so they could see what was in their selection."

"Corona RCFE was very nice, and the people were very friendly. The grounds were good. The room is perfect for my mother who is 92. She just needs a room with a little bed, a chair, and a TV. That's all she needs. It looks like she can go out and go to the dining room area, and things like that, and they have those things available too. The staff who helped me was very friendly and answered all the questions. She was very good. I didn't sample the food, but the dining area was fine. For activities, they have a little room where people can go and they can meet with each other and play games and so on, so that's fine."
