"My impression of Fig Garden is very favorable. In fact, this is where my mom is currently living. Her only complaint is the food; she would like a little more diversity. Other than that, we’ve been very pleased. She’s in a one-bedroom apartment that's perfect for her. It’s definitely handicapped accessible, so she’s able to exit and enter the shower so much easier. Their handrails are just perfect for her, and there’s enough room in the bedroom and living room that she has room for both of her walkers: the one that she goes out with and the one that she uses in the home. The staff has been friendly and welcoming. The transition to living from home into there has been very easy because the people there are so friendly. "

"I went to Oakmont of Fresno. I saw assisted living and memory care. It's very clean, very well-kept, and very pristine. The people that I met were very nice and took me through the whole community. Their dining area was very nice, both in the assisted living and the memory care. I liked the memory care because they had shadowboxes outside each room that told a little about the person that was living in that room. If somebody was a cat lover, they would have different items with cats in them. If they were a truck driver, they'd have stuff like that. They'd have family photos and just different things. It was really neat to see. It was just very, very well-kept. They had a barber shop, and this was more in the assisted living section where somebody would come in and cut men's and women's hair, dye their hair, comb their hair, and whatever. They do nails and just all kinds of little things. They have physical therapy there. The gal that was giving me the tour was excellent, very friendly, and tried to give me so much information to help me make the decision. I thought the price was pretty good for the area and for what they had to offer. Even the rooms were nice and well-kept. I got to see an empty room that my brother-in-law would possibly be staying in. I was very impressed. They were getting ready to have lunch, and they have a menu that they can pick from, and that was in the assisted living. In memory care, they serve the same food. Some of those people are limited in what they can eat, but they have a choice if they can make it. The staff was very friendly and all seemed to interact well together."

"My mom has been in Cogir of Cedar Creek for two weeks now. It's great. It's very clean. It's very organized. And the staff is wonderful. They have a library and a pool. They do arts and crafts. They also do their laundry for them. There are lots of arts and crafts. They have sewing and stuff like that. That's mainly what my mom likes to do, so that's what they've had her doing."

"Villa Sorrento is for 55 and older. You are on your own as far as meals go. It had covered parking and a little exercise room. It's a beautiful facility. The rooms were really big. The two-bedroom two-bath is 1167 square feet which is the size of some houses. They have a washer and dryer in the room, an elevator that goes up to the third floor, and a weight room. The place was immaculate and beautifully maintained. There's a yard outside. If they have a place open, we will move in there. Most of the people that live there, being older, have carts that they use to go from the parking stall into the building. They just buy a cart and they roll it into the apartment."

"My aunt is at Claremont Senior Luxury Apartments. It's a very nice place as far as the apartments. The management staff is pretty helpful. It's an over-50 community and you are relied on to do your own grocery shopping, go pick up your mail at the office, and all of that kind of thing. You have to be independent to live there, but the facilities and everything are very nice. Her apartment has a very small kitchen. It does have a stove. She does not have a bathtub, although she wanted one, and I believe some of the rooms do have bathtubs. She has a two-bedroom apartment, and it's pretty good sized and adequate. It has a closet for a washer and dryer, so you do your own laundry there. The air and heat is good. You're able to get cable and wi-fi, and all of that is extra, but it's easily available and everybody has a parking place and outdoor parking type thing with the awning or cover. There are some small park areas where people get together and talk. There is a swimming pool and a jacuzzi. The workout room could be better, at least in her section. I've been happy with it so far. These types of facilities are best for people that are engaging others. If they're in their apartment by themselves all the time, it's hard to kind of make sure everything's OK. This isn't necessarily good for them to be isolated mentally either. You prepare your own food, so it's completely independent. There is a van that will take them someplace once a week. There are some shelves with books on them, but they're just donated books from people, so it's not like a wide library at all. The pricing is not cheap, but it's reasonable."

"I toured The Fountains at Alluvia. I heard great things about the management, and I also know some people who have lived there through the years. They're very pleased with their maintenance. They do upkeep. They care about the people who live there, and they feel like they've strived to keep costs down when they can. The apartments are very spacious, with an attached garage. As far as I could tell, everything was in tip-top shape. They had the clubhouse and a pool, and each little space had its own yard that was maintained. It's a tiny space, but you can plant something of your own if you wish. I was very pleased with the facility."

"We're living in Arabian Villa Mobile Home Park. I like it because it's about two blocks from Walmart, we're about two blocks from Walgreens, we're about three blocks from a number of good restaurants, and we're close to the bowling alley. Living here, of course, people have their own independent homes. I really like it here. They're very friendly. The place is kept clean. We have an excellent manager, so we're happy about that. I've made some good friends here. My husband has lived here longer than I have, and he has some very good friends here also. I thoroughly enjoy living here. We have friendly neighbors and we support each other. And if somebody is ill, then others will pitch in to help. They have good activities here. For example, every Wednesday evening we play bingo. That's a nice little social occasion, and it's fun to win occasionally. And I've met some nice people there and I enjoy talking with them. We just finished our Christmas luncheon last weekend. We earned the money somehow and I think it's through our garage sale or something, and so free meals were provided to us. It was a Christmas meal. We could buy tickets to have a raffle if we wanted to be a part of the raffle. We had some nice little gifts that way. It was a fun occasion, and it's a chance to see your neighbors and to meet new neighbors also. The atmosphere is positive. I think people enjoy living here. We've had good people move in when somebody passes or something like that. Since we are in a mobile home park, we have some rules and regulations about where we can park, which are not bad at all, but it's just to keep everything organized. We have a very nice clubhouse where we have a lot of different activities happening, and we have a swimming pool. They have a number of activities. We don't participate in all of them just because we're busy with other things. I think it's a good value. The rent is reasonable. "

"My mom has been living in harmony Bay for six years. It's a 55+ community and everybody is of the same age and watch out for each other. It's a central location, close to shopping and Clovis has a round-up bus, pick them up for a dollar and take them places. They have bingo and cards game. She's happy and very comfortable there. "

"Fairwinds was our first choice. It was excellent, had good common areas, and had the most choices in the size of apartments."

"I'm here at the Vineyards - California Armenian Home for independent living. It is absolutely wonderful. This is like heaven. This is a five-star facility here. The staff members are very nice, very friendly, very helpful, and accommodating to everybody. I have an apartment that's got a full kitchen, a full bedroom, and a full bathroom. It's all set up. It's got crown moldings in it. They offer food here. They have special dining if you like prime rib, lobster, and filet mignon. All that stuff they have up there for you. Mostly the residents that eat up there are independent living. For activities, they have a full gym. They have bingo, poker, and blackjack. They have everything here for everybody. The food is a five. It's like eating on a cruise ship. It is absolutely the best. The place is the cleanest I've ever seen. It's got beautiful grounds. It's the best value you can get for your money."

"My parents moved to Willow Court. I like that it's very quiet and it's also very safe. The staff is very, very friendly, and they communicated well with us. They don't serve food since it's completely independent living. They don't really have a lot of amenities. They just have a community room. That's about it. It's a real small community. It seems very clean. The value for the money is great."

"We visited Sierra View Homes over at Ridley. It's older, but it was nice. The staff were nice, too. It has a lot of spaces for group activities. The individual senior apartments all have good lighting. They were nice but older, so they could use some upgrades. Some of the apartments were getting new tile or linoleum; they're in the process of upgrading. One good thing about it is that when you live in the independent living, you're guaranteed a spot should you need to move to the other levels, which is really nice. So if you're going to break your hip, you could go to their skilled nursing level. If you get Alzheimer's, you could go to their memory care, and you're guaranteed a spot."
