"My parents are residents of The Park at Modesto. They have lovely care there. It's a very nice place; very clean. Everybody's very friendly. The food is good. Everybody's cared for well. I like the place. I just wish it was closer to me. My parents are in a one-bedroom. It has a full kitchen. The bathroom is very well-fitted for anybody with disabilities. The facility is just good. It has a grand piano that my mom could play and it's a nice place. The staff was very good, professional, kind, and loving. The food is very good. They change it up quite often and you can always order or request it if you don't want something on the menu."

"I had three main requirements, and Samaritan Village Retirement Community was the only one that met them. I wanted a washer and dryer in my unit, an indoor swimming pool that I could swim in year round, and a kitchen. The staff was fantastic, caring, and acted like they really enjoyed their jobs. The residents seemed to like them a lot, too. I had a good meal with the residents instead of staff members so I was able to talk to them about how they liked it. They said nothing but good things about the food. They had a salad bar, and you could either eat there or go to the to-go window and bring the food back to your room if you wanted to, which was very convenient. It looked like it would meet everybody's needs. I went to their chocolate jazz and wine tasting festival even though I'm not a resident. They had a knitting group. "

"Arbor Manor Senior Cottage Homes is a very good, clean, and gated place. Save Mart is right over the fence and WalMart is about two blocks away. Everything is very convenient for me. The staff is really good. They don't have a dining area because you're on your own, but they have people who can come in if you need help. They do a lot of get-togethers and dinners."

"My mother is at Oak Haven Senior Apartments. I enjoy their apartment building, so she has neighbors all within the same kind of age group as her. They have donuts every Wednesday morning. Usually once a month, they have a potluck downstairs so the seniors can gather. There's a walking path all around, and right across the parking lot, (she doesn't have to go out into the road or anything else) is a senior center that the City of Oakdale runs. The veterans feed them lunch, Monday through Friday. They also have activities all day long, Monday through Friday, like singing, art, and exercise. Those are the things I enjoy about it. They also have an emergency pull string, so that if you have an emergency, 911 is called instantly and comes to your apartment. The thing I don't like is ever since COVID, they've shut down the office and the only way you can contact them is through the phone. I give the staff a 2 because the office is closed, and the seniors could no longer go up to the office and talk to people. You have to call and leave a message and they'll call you back. I find that unacceptable. There is a lot of activities, but the senior center doesn't do it, it's the City of Oakdale that does it. They do a few things."

"Escalon Heritage Homes was in a small town, which was out of the country. It was more open and they had duplexes, which were connected instead of three or four apartments together. They had one bedroom apartments as well as studios. I would have my own private front yard and it was close to the Senior Citizen's office, which was across the street. There was also a park nearby where I could take my grandchildren to play. They had great staff. There was an area to play bingo, a reading room and you could have your own pet. There was also a yard keeper to clean the yard. The residents cooked their own food. I liked the place a lot. "

"When i was told a atudio apt i thought oh my god it isnt big enough well thats what happens when you assume actually its big and comfortable and really nice i love my place and the manager is really nice the staff is very friendly i like living here ive only been here 2 months but its great the neighbors are friendly and it quiet couldnt ask for a better place"

"My sister is living in a 55+ community called Woodbridge. They have individual houses, and most of them have two-bedroom and two-baths. They have bingo, cards, swimming, and a gym. It’s not a gated community, but I haven’t heard of any problems, and what impressed me the most is the open floor plan of the home. "

"I really liked Plymouth Square, but I couldn’t afford it. The people seemed friendly. It had more of a feeling of a retirement home, and I liked that part. The facility itself was well kept, attractive, and welcoming, but I just couldn’t afford it. It was lunchtime when I had my tour, so I didn’t see anything going on, but I know they do have activities. The facility seemed accessible and well lit. I just looked at studio apartments that were attractive enough. I would recommend them. It was just a warm, homey feeling, and people were very friendly. The facility itself was very attractive and very clean. I spoke to the assisted living director. She seemed very knowledgeable and seemed to have a good staff. "
