St. Matthew Center is a 1-story facility. It's a nursing home and there's a certain portion of them that is for hospice care. The facility looked clean and nice. When I walked in there, I didn't smell anything. However, I was really surprised at how boring it was at the rehab facility. There should be a lot of noise and a lot of people talking but I didn't see too much of that. It was so dull. There were little to no activities. The accommodations were okay. They would let people bring their stuff in if they want. They did have a dining room area for their residents. The staff seemed okay. I was going to put mom there for respite care, but the lady that I went to see was very rude.

My gramma spent the last 6 or 7 years of her life in this facility until she passed only a few weeks ago. She was a very sharp woman, even until her last days, and as far as we know there weren't any major complaints. The staff seemed kind and seemed to take care of her. The facility seemed to be in good condition, although sometimes they kept the temperature a little too warm. The facility had a decent courtyard and grounds for going outside during the summer and spring.My only complaint is that it seemed incredibly boring. My gramma was confined to a wheelchair and there was not very much to do. Of course, with senior citizens, what really can you do? All in all, the place seemed nice and they seemed to treat my gramma well, which is the most important thing. Only minor complaint towards the staff is some of them did not speak English very well and could be difficult to understand.
