"It was very nice although they didn’t have patios on the ground floor, but other than that I liked it. They have a swimming pool, fitness center, spa, and several dining rooms; it’s a big place, but they were a little bit expensive."

If you want to get involved there are many opportunities to do so both inside the community and out. Dining room is open to enjoying a meal with your family and the food is superb."

"I have briefly visited other nursing homes and assisted living facilities and I think this is one of the best. My mother visits almost every day, though, and I know that's one way to make sure that your relatives are well taken care of...The staff is always friendly and willing to make accommodations in the residents' schedules for visitors. For all residents, both those on the 8th floor (mainly dementia patients, some rehab) and on the lower floors (mainly in their own apartments with mini-kitchens), there are daily activities. For those who are mobile, there are frequent outings. Book club, story groups, bingo, exercise, ice cream socials...there's also a beautiful roof deck and indoor sitting area on the top floor with many couches and large windows overlooking Lake Michigan. Most residents dine together and food seems decent downstairs from what I've seen. The food on the 8th floor is pretty basic cafeteria style food, not so good. "

"We feel so lucky to have my parents at the Clare. The Clare is a supportive and caring community. The staff feels like family for my parents and my kids when we come and visit them. My parents enjoy the engaging activities the Clare schedules daily. The food is excellent!"

"My parents have been residents for a short period of time and have already adjusted wonderfully! First I have to say that the facility is immaculate! Fresh water stations with fruit and seating areas throughout! The staff is so nice and very helpful with anything you need. Their apartment is very spacious with every accommodation you can think of! Motion sensors, grab bars, modified tub for easy access, higher outlets and more. They are most excited about the convenience of the dining room that offers a big selection on the menu. They love to participate in all the events provided where they have already made many friends. Overall my parents couldn’t be happier about their decision to transition to independent living from their single family residence of 60 years and in turn makes the entire family happy!"

"Covenant Living at the Holmstad was a beautiful facility. Not only the building itself, but the landscaping was very large and beautiful. There were lots of places for residents to be able to walk. They had gardens and trees. It's the most beautiful place I've seen with a price to match. They request a large deposit and then monthly charges, which could increase yearly. There are no meals at all. The salespeople were extremely nice. It's just we can't afford it."

"My dad moved from a 4-bedroom house to a studio apartment here 2 1/2 years ago. He loves it. There are people to interact with, supervised exercise, a beautiful dining room with good food, where you order your meal as you would in a restaurant. He has a full kitchen (he likes to bake) and a huge closet - plenty of room he says. The staff are very friendly and helpful and everything is clean and updated. They have church services, wii bowling, bingo, trips on the bus. Communication with families is very good. As I said, Dad loves it and we (the children) feel very comfortable with him there."

"We visited The Village. It’s in the county that I live in. The decorating is very tasteful. It’s very lovely, but my only problem with it is as far as my husband and me, it’s not suitable in that it has a bar or they call the pub in the middle of the place. That wouldn’t bother most people, but it bothers us. The staff seemed very competent. They drive the people in a bus, and they come to community concerts. It’s run by some Dominican nuns and I’ve recommended this to my friends who happen to be Catholic. "

"Both of my parents lived at CBH. They started out in Independent living. After my father passed away my mother went to the 3rd floor. I work in another senior community. I can not say enough about CBH. The care, compassion, cleanliness, activities, encouragement for the residents and family is unbelievable. They are a family, they make everyone who enters feel like family. My mother passed away but I still stop by to see some of the staff that was so kind to me and my parents. "

"Covenant Living of Northbrook is where my wife and I are moving. It's a great place. My wife's parents lived there. Her father lived there for 20 years. Her mother lived there for 13 years. The people were very welcoming and caring. It fits our lifestyle. The staff was very friendly. I have no complaints at all. We're moving into a cottage home there. It's got a great room, a kitchen about 20 feet by 35 feet, and a shared garage with the neighbor. It's got two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a laundry room, all the appliances, a washer and dryer, stove, microwave oven, regular oven and refrigerator."

"This facility is located on the north side of chicago it serves a population of adults who have been diagnoised with a developmental disability. They only provide services to female residents. While there I noticed some of the residents were sharing a room. They have a full clinical staff that provides services to the residents 24 hrs a day. the meals are prepared by the staff, and on special occassions and when doing food activites, the staff will allow the residents to assist in the preparation of the meals. The facility is clean, and well-maintained. The staff is very hands on, and the residents seem to have a closeness with one another. In general, I would rank this facility a 4 out of 5 stars. "
