My parents were in Presence Bethlehem Woods Retirement Community. They were in the independent living side, and the staff was excellent. They went above and beyond the call of duty for sure. The apartments were clean and well-appointed, and they had nice amenities. It's a nice campus. They had a nice formal dining room like you'd have at a hotel, a library, a hairstylist, and a doctor who comes a couple times a week to take appointments. They had a chapel that did regular services, and there's an exercise room, so if you're doing physical therapy or rehab you can meet your therapist down there. They had ample parking, they had activities, a bus for daily outings, and a closed-circuit TV with everything from prayer to old movies and what have you. They also had a walking path around the building. It was very good value for the money.

I liked the location of Bethlehem Woods and I liked the size of the apartments because they were the largest of any of the places I have been. They were all very nice and most of them had really nice windows so they're good and bright. The biggest drawback was that the distance to the dining room and the other activities was extremely long. I stayed there for a couple of months because they had an offer called the Snowbird Special where you could come in and stay for a couple of months with no obligations. I stayed in a furnished apartment so I had the chance to really try it out. They had good activities like book clubs, exercising, crafts, and a nice variety of religious services no matter what denomination you were (which was a plus). It was also in a nice area and was close to shopping. They had terrible laundry areas, but the dining area was attractive. They also didn't have automatic opening doors to the outside, which was a problem. They had really excellent food.

Presence Bethlehem Woods Retirement Community was very complete but a little disjointed. They seemed to compartmentalize different people with different needs, which I wasn’t really thrilled with. Those people who needed assisted living were totally separated from other people in a different building. I didn’t like that aspect of it at all, but everything else was very nice. The rooms were very clean, well appointed, and ranged from efficiency to a two-bedroom.

My husband and I have been residents of Bethlehem Woods for 4 months now and we couldn't be more pleased. The staff and residents have been extremely welcoming and friendly. The variety of activities are so good and there seems to be something for anyone's taste. I especially appreciate the opportunity to attend daily Mass. The most outstanding feature is, for us, the food service. Each evening meal we are offered a choice of 3 entrees, and several alternate choices as well, and the food is always served hot by a friendly wait staff on linen tablecloths, and nice china. If you aren't feeling well it can be delivered to your room. It has been living at a fine resort.

We just visited Bethlehem Woods Retirement Community when I was checking out places, and this was very high on my list. Everyone seemed really nice. It seemed very clean, the people there seemed to be happy, and you could tell just by walking around. They seemed to have scheduled activities posted on the board. The only reason that I didn't want to put my mother in there was because it was too far from my house. The apartments seemed pretty big, and the one-bedroom was really nice with a little kitchenette. The studio seemed okay, but it was hard to tell without any furniture in there. The one thing I did notice while we were walking around and they were showing their apartments and stuff was they knew everybody that we came in contact with. They knew all the other residents, which I thought was very impressive.

My mother has only been at Bethlehem Woods Retirement Community for two weeks. So far, it has been an excellent experience. She is happy, and she is well cared for. There have been no complaints. The staff was very friendly. She is in a room that is 320 sq.ft., and it is very clean. The bathroom is very accessible. There are a lot of activities. There are games. There is player practice. They have bingo. She does not complain about the food. The dining room is small with lots of tables and chairs in it.

I visited a relative there and I was invited to eat in there dining room rather than go out for dinner. What a mistake I've seen better hospital food. I asked my relative if they could opt out of the dinner plan but there was virtually no savings in not taking the meals. They must be making a fortune on the slop they are feeding these old folks. Ever heard of Spaghetti with banana bread? I couldn't eat there and went out after I didn't want to embarrass my relative so I feigned not being hungry rather than complain. You should be ashamed of yourselves taking advantage of seniors. Those rents aren't cheap and those buildings are long paid for and since it's run by the Church it must be all profit. Cause your not spending a dime on food.
