Avidor - Glenview is for active adults over 55. They don't have any transportation at all, but my overall experience was excellent. The property manager did an excellent job. They explained everything. I thought being active over 55 was the same as being independent, so it was something that enlightened me. Everything that they said about the community, being a camaraderie there, was true. They have a happy hour and when I was taking the tour, a couple of the ladies invited me to be at the table with them because they knew I was a new person taking the tour and I talked with them. Everybody was friendly. The place is only a couple of years old, so everything was nice and in excellent condition. The only reason why I'm not going there is there's no transportation, and that's the top of my priority. The rooms were small, but you don't need a lot of space because they had ample space in the common areas. I think that they try to encourage you to be out of your apartment. There's not even a place to put your mop and broom, which I believe people just have cleaning services there. They're a very active community. They're on Facebook and it shows you all of the things that they do. I think they use any excuse to have a gathering or a party. When I walked in, there was a little chalkboard that they had on the desk that said "Welcome" because they knew I was coming at a certain time. Everybody was very warm there. When I walked down the hall, people looked up and smiled, like a small town.

I went to Avidor - Glenview because it was 55-plus, but goodness gracious, they had everything, and it was expensive. It's a beautiful place, but I couldn't afford it. They have lots of things. When you open the door to the apartment, it was very, very bright, sunshiny, and perky. I didn't care for the price, and the hallways were dark. They had people there, but I didn't see too many. It seemed that everything was included in the rent, too. It was very clean. They didn't have any openings. They had an apartment that they showed; they keep a room to show people. It was beautiful. It looked comfortable, but it was outside my budget, it was a little further than I wanted to go. It looked well kept for me. It looked like a brand new building. The person that showed me around was very nice and did a nice job. What I saw was excellent.
