I stayed at Alden Estates for 3 weeks as I recovered from a fractured pelvis from a fall from my horse. The nursing staff are compassionate and professional. The physical therapy, which was what I needed most, was excellent. The food was much better than expected (better than Good Shepherd Hospital), especially the home-made soups for lunch and dinner. I loved the aviary. The cleanliness is excellent. The carpet in my room was shampooed the day I arrived. Housecleaning was frequent and thorough. There is an activity center which was well-attended. I would highly recommend this facility.

My mother is currently at Alden Estates of Barrington for rehab. It has a nice setting. They have caring nurses. The rooms are roomy and bright. The food was fine. It was not hot, and they didn't have thermal trays. The dining area is warm, inviting, and large. They have daily activities. They do memory games. They have a big PowerPoint screen so everyone can play. They have bingo and crafts. The facility is very well kept. They have a beauty salon, but because of COVID, they can't use that right now.

Horrible! My mother was recently there and we have nothing good to say about it. Food was often cold, portions small and left hungry. Calling for a nurse or help would take 55 minutes, that’s a long time in a wet diaper. Staff not knowledgeable and we were often told things that never happened. Communication is a joke. Keep your love ones away from this place.

I could not tell if they were understaffed and this was during COVID times, so... I was post-op short term transfer from hospital...in isolation at intake 14 days due to COVID protocols. I had to be very independent. Slow call button response. No communication w/patients. Meds were not given on routine. Processes disorganized, esp. at intake/discharge. Most staff were nice and performed above average. PT/OT went well. They had to come to my room and bring equipment. Upgrading call system. Clean but older equipment/ furniture. Found stains on sheets and towels. Offered laundry service. Mattresses seemed newer, but still sagged. Maintenance crew very responsive. CNAs very responsive. Performed C19 test before discharge at my request. Had own bus to go to appt. I did not see or use any amenities due to ISO.

My dad has been a permenant resident at Alden Estates of Barrington for over one year now. Our entire family has nothing but praise for the entire staff who works very hard in making sure that my 86 year old dad remains comfortable and safe. I've been a welcomed visitor at numerous nursing facilities and can humbly say that Alden Estates of Barrington is truly one of the best.

I was discharged to Alden/Barrington following open heart surgery. Had received great services from nursing staff and therapists for 20 days. Daily bed setting and prompt daily meal delivery if not wanting to go to various dining rooms. Food terrific and plentiful, but servers not always so prompt....(0nly complaint).... Staff was always courteous and efficient...meds and showers on demand. Never had a bad or disappointing day. Therapy daily across hall. No need to be home and travel for services. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

They only check the patient like twice and that would only be to give the medication or any treatment necessary. They are attractive, or caring. Their always on their phone sitting on their desks. The patients rooms light will be on and they forever to even assist them. If you want your relative to be taken care of this is not the place unless you are their 24 hrs and ask for a assistance.

My mother has been a resident since 2010. In the past almost 7 years, I cannot complain. Her nurses on staff, have always informed me if their were any issues with my mom. My mom will even tell me, she is so happy to be there, I have recommended two other families for rehab. They were happy with the services, their mother's received. Thank you Alden staff for all you help with my mom!!

We have a family member in this facility after major surgery. There less than 24 hrs and she has already had two incidents of waiting for way too long to get help going to the bathroom. The first was 40 min.; the second was TWO HRs. She was so desperate for help, she called home to us. The staff ignored her calls for help. They admitted it was wrong, but we'll see if they rectify the situation. We only chose this facility because of insurance.

I do not recommend this facility. You ask for for something. They say in a few minutes and three hours later it is still not done. You need to stay at the facility to ensure your loved one is taken care of.

Seriously cant understand why a hospital would recommend and send anyone hear .....supposedly we were told its the only respiratory rehab in area......they didnt have anything coordinated as far as diet...my mother was moved over around and settled in just after 730.... i finally had to demand to speak to someone to get her lunch and than it was after one when it came. I asked for a list of contacts for questions during my moms care and the customer care director wrote it on the back off my sundae napkin. After my mom used the bathroom thry left her soiled napkins and gloves on the sink.....did not get the correct medication and almost gave her another zanex if i hadnt been there to question......the next day i came afyer work and she wss sitting inher chair looking miserable after no ome attended to her call light buttom i notice her oxygen and bubbler on wall were not even on...she is supposed to be on 3 liters 24/7. Other residents familys were also complaining about lack of staff and supplies...i didnt think paper towels were up to code for cleaning someomes behind.......if you arr a coy fish or bird you are in the right home...it appears they really do care for them.......

Alden is NOT an acute rehab facility. If your family member or loved one requires assistance with daily needs (medication, toileting, showering, eating, etc), then this is not the place for you. They are grossly understaffed and not attentive in the least. On most occasions, when my mom hit the "call button," she waited a minimum of 10-15 min before someone even popped their head in her room. And many times it was as long as 30 min. There is not a doctor on-site 24/7; they stop in a do a "round." The nurses must call the on-call doctor for authorization to change meds or care protocol. The CNAs are overworked and therefore can be rude and unfriendly. The speech therapist and chef were the only worthwhile people in the place. They showed respect and genuine care for my mom while she was there. If you are looking for a "country club" rehab where you can manage your own medications, are able to walk, eat and shower independently, then Alden provides the bare minimum care you require. In any other circumstance, I would say Alden is an unsafe, demoralizing environment for someone requiring any type of true medical care or acute rehabilitation.

I was in this awful place for 8 days. They are adept at looking good on the outside, but they were woefully understaffed, especially at night. The day staff stood around gossiping a lot. The night staff was completely rude, crude and indifferent. Avoid this place.

Alden Estates was a wonderful and very caring facility. I was there because I had a hip replacement, and the staff was incredible. They were efficient and very helpful, and the physical therapy was incredible. I had a really good experience. The rooms were big; my father had a private room and had his own bathrooms. It was a very nice facility; I would recommend it to anybody. The food was incredible, and the food choices and the menus were wonderful.

My family decided to move my uncle into ALDEN ESTATES OF BARRINGTON when he got older and needed help with the day to day of life. Our first visit to him there was last year and I could remember my son playing in the halls with his cousins and the staff being so friendly the kids. The residents loved to see the children at play. My visits have continued since then and I have started to pay more attention to levels of care and I must say I was quite pleased with how my uncle has been treated. The level of care they provided is top notch and I am glad my Uncle could spend the twilight of his life being well looked after. I will say that the janitors doe a great job. My Uncles room has always been clean and fresh. I would pick up the calendar and newsletter to read through and it always seemed like there was something to. I think my uncle has been able to meet a few new people as well. I'm happy to stay for a meal with Uncle Jim since I thought the food is pretty good. Every time I see someone who works there they seemed happy and were very helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone who is considering assisted living for a loved one.

My mother was in the same facility back in 2006 when she first began her end of life decline. At the time the facility was being renovated. When we were given a list of facilities to choose from for my spouse, I quickly chose Alden. The name had changed from the prior time, but I knew where the facility was and it would be easy for out of town friends and relatives to find it. The staff was great. They all went out of their way to assist my husband and I with everything. They encouraged him to push himself to do things. Without the staff's encouragement, he would have just sat on the bed and watched TV all day. The facility was very clean. I spent a lot of time there and the place never had that "old people" smell to it. The grounds were beatutiful. As the weather got warmer the staff encouraged my husband to go outside more. They encouraged him to be part of life not just watch it pass him by. Our grandchildren enjoyed coming so that they could go with "Papa" to the ice cream shop that was down the hall from his room. Outside the ice cream shop was a large bird cage. Even I could stand there half the afternoon and watch the birds. All lf the staff was friendly and outgoing. They tended to the needs of the residence as quickly and respectfully as possible. The place was vastly improved over the facility that my mother stayed at. And I thought it was good back then.
