The tour at Discovery Village At Tampa Palms was wonderful. Dominique gave me all the information and showed me around, and she was really nice and answered all my questions. I got a good feeling there. I thought it was a very nice place. The only thing that I'm a little hesitant about is that the size of the apartments was a little smaller than what my mom is going to want. They're one-bedroom apartments. What she showed me was an assisted living apartment because all of her one-bedrooms in independent living were not available. They were all occupied, and they would have been bigger than what she showed me by about three feet. I saw a library, a card room, a place where they do exercise and PT, and the dining rooms. I saw people walking around, and they seemed very independent. I liked it a lot. It was probably my favorite tour I've been on. I would have liked it a little bit more updated, like a newer feeling. There was a restroom that you could use on the main floor, and I used it, and it smelled like mold. It smelled like they may have a little bit of a water issue somewhere in that bathroom. For somebody who has an allergy to molds, that's not great. They should check on that.

We put our name on a waiting list at Discovery Village At Tampa Palms. The reason we picked that one is that we can go in as independent living, but if one of us needs more help, we could still stay in the same apartment. They have the extra care if you need it. We felt very comfortable there. It's a great community. It's a little expensive, but it offers what we need at this point. The staff is excellent. We had no problem there at all. We had lunch there and it was very good. We know that this would be the best place for us at this point. They have entertainment, movies, games, exercise classes, and a pool for pool exercise.

We've chosen Discovery Village At Tampa Palms for my father. We liked the room availability. It was ready, and it was a downstairs room close to everything. It was what sold us finally, the location of the room. It was a brand-new facility, it was smaller, so they seemed more personal. The staff was really good. We haven't eaten there yet, but it looked like they had a really good menu there. It has a full kitchen, a washer and dryer in the room, and a TV. He should have moved in, but they tested for COVID and he came up positive, so we're gonna put the move on hold for now.

Discovery Village at Tampa Palms was smaller than I would've liked, and they didn't have covered parking. The staff, the rooms, and the food were mediocre. It's like walking into a nursing home, and the front desk resembles a nurse's station in a hospital. They had a swimming pool and a game room that almost nobody uses, a theater that shows movies that very few people would be interested in, a therapy room with not much equipment, and a hairdresser that doesn't do my type of hair. The facility seems to be for people much older than I am and I'll be 69 in August. They have a very nice living room, but the rooms themselves are boring and tiny, and there's no outside living space.

Discovery Village has been an excellent choice for my in-laws, who have been residents of Tampa Palms for over 25 years. Living there enables them to stay close to friends, parks, stores, doctors--while receiving the level of living assistance they need. It's great that a couple needing both independent living and assistance can stay together in Discovery Village. The staff is professional and attentive and the facility is well-maintained. On our visits we've enjoyed sharing meals and meeting their friends. We feel that this move was a good one as they are thriving in the Discovery Village environment.

My dad has moved into Discovery Village at Tampa Palms. It is brand new, very professional, very friendly, and has excellent chefs, food, doctors, nurses, and staff. Physical therapy is available as well as swimming pool and movie nights; it is awesome. My dad is very happy. It is a fantastic place. He is doing all the activities that they have, which is plenty.
