I had a positive tour experience of American House Stuart Lodge. The gym, however, was a major concern for my husband because they said that they have physical therapy available but he doesn't need physical therapy, he just enjoys going to the gym, so it was not clear to me if that would be available. Their rooms were nice though and the staff was very, very helpful. The gal that would have normally done the tour was not available that day, so the head of nursing stepped in and toured us. The place was much more open and much more appealing, and there's just much more outdoor space and more accessibility to it.

Stuart Lodge is an old lodge that has been remodeled. I talked to a lot of people there and they seemed happy. It wasn't really extravagant or exclusive, but it was homey. I would rate it highly for the location. The staff was very nice, they give you all the time that you need for questions, then they take you around and show you every room and corner. They have a pool, Bingo, and card games. The dining area was adequate, a lot of people came in wheelchairs and scooters, and the residents can sit anywhere they want. You're also allowed to bring people in for meals and just pay the extra price.

Stuart Lodge is so expensive, but it's beautiful. I only spoke with the lady who walked me around and the receptionist, but they were very friendly and knowledgeable. The residents all looked happy and everything looked and smelled clean. The grounds are nice and everything looked good. The least expensive room was beautiful, had very high ceilings, was relatively new, had granite counter tops, and very high-end fixtures. I was very impressed.

I visit Stuart Lodge every other Sunday morning for church service. The people seemed content and well cared for. I checked out the rooms, and all seemed clean. The grounds and the location were excellent.

I am a friend or relative of resident
I'm in shock right now. My 88 yr old mother has been living here at Stuart Lodge for 2 years now. She had a disagreement with Randy (staff) and he is kicking her out! Giving her 45 days to vacate. What kind of place does this to an old widow? She has friends there and now she has to start over some where else? Plus just the moving again is too much.
My mother still has her smarts and will not be pushed around. Randy can't handle an old person with brains. I'm looking into legal action. This is just not right.

The one that I was most impressed with was Stuart Lodge. It was kind of in between slow and homey and large and grandiose. That suited us. That facility was a couple of years old. The rooms were clean and large, much larger than any of the apartments that we visited. The price was absolutely fair. The food was carefully planned. They had a nurse's license that allowed them to do injections, and none of the other places had it. We really liked that, because my father was diabetic. There were 90 patients there. They had a really nice dining schedule, where they could go in between hours like 7:00 to 9:00 in the morning, 5:00 and 7:00 at night. That was nice. They could choose off a menu, which was good. The staff was kind, honest and accommodating. They gave my father-in-law personal attention by talking directly to him, instead of talking to us like he was not there. I really appreciated that. Then, they had a gentlemen's club for some of the more active folks to get together and play pool. They could have a beer, wine, or things like that. They had different kinds of parties and different types of entertainment. They were more on entertaining on the high-ends' side. It was clean, new, and well-kept. The front desk was diligent to see the people sign in. They watched you come in and out, so I appreciated the safety factor. I liked the way that people could go in and out when they were checking out the residents. The door would open and close, instead of waiting for a buzzer for somebody to open the door. Overall, it was a really nice atmosphere. It was everything that we had imagined. The price was good. The people were good. The residents greeted my father-in-law when he was on a tour. It was really well-balanced, pleasant, and peaceful. I liked the location too. It was not way out. There was no traffic or anything like that.
