State certified programs are offered via our partners a few times a year. Our senior staff or outside partners also provide best-practices in-services for our staff.
Describe the overall population of assisted living residents at Atlantis Senior Care. What is their average age? What are their favorite things to do?
Our family of residents consists of your typical lovable seniors that are around 80 years old or so. They love music and dancing, particularly jazz. A good movie night is also a big favorite at Atlantis Oakland Park.
What programs or activities does Atlantis Senior Care offer to enrich residents' well-being?
We offer exercise classes by a specialized senior fitness coach. Music & dance sessions, memory games, trivia, and the family favorite, bingo! Other activities include arts & crafts, a library and various special events we try to plan quarterly.

Broward senior center, Oakland Park town center. Wilton Manors town center and various parks.

We can arrange transportation including with aide or wheelchair.
What makes the chef or dining program at Atlantis Senior Care exceptional? What kind of menu can assisted living residents expect?
We have a homestyle kitchen with a menu designed specifically for our resident family by our dietician. Chefs are encouraged to get to know residents individually so they learn the unique favorites of residents. Our chefs can also accommodate various therapeutic diets including diabetic, cardiac, low/no sodium, etc. Although we do not have kosher kitchen we are able to accommodate kosher-style or other specific cultural and religious groups on an as-needed basis.
What safety features or security measures does Atlantis Senior Care offer to assisted living residents?
We're secured and gated community. Additionally nearly all of our restrooms are ADA compliant and have safety features to assist our residents.
How does Atlantis Senior Care keep residents' families informed about their loved ones?
We provide general correspondence via email and written. Additionally, for specific residents, we discuss directly with family members over telephone, text or email.
What is the care staff-to-resident ratio at Atlantis Senior Care during daytime and nighttime hours?
During the day we have 3 direct caretakers as well as our Care Manager who is a certified nursing assistant. In the late evenings, we have 2 direct caretakers. Additionally, we have contract staff in the facility (LPNs & RNs) that can assist if need be.
If Atlantis Senior Care accepts dogs or cats, what indoor/outdoor areas can they enjoy?
We love our furry friends but unfortunately, at this time, pets are only allowed to visit.
What ongoing senior care training does the staff receive?
We work with our partners to provide state-certified training programs every month or so to our staff alongside in-services. The trainings and in-services range from infection control, Alzheimer's / dementia, mental health awareness, nutrition, sanitation and other such topics.

We have secured a gate enclosing the facility. There is an outside courtyard so residents have an outdoor space to enjoy.
What programs or activities does Atlantis Senior Care offer to keep residents engaged? How does the staff engage residents' long-term memories?
Memory games, trivia and similar activities are our primary means to maintain cognitive health of our memory care residents (along side all of the fun typical activities we provide - please see Assisted Living section for greater detail). Additionally, we work with mental health counselors and psychologist to provide individualized cognitive therapy programs to keep resident's minds active.
Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?
Our RN assesses the health and cognitive functioning as well as our mental health counselors. The assessments are reviewed every 12 to 18 months.
What techniques does Atlantis Senior Care use to support memory care residents during mealtimes?
Initially, we use occupational and cognitive therapy to help residents develop some level of independence, which we believe essential for the long-term well-being of our resident family. If a resident has issues feeding themselves, our aides are able to provide various level of assistance with feeding from cutting food into bite-sizes to full assistance with feeding.

We are located in a residential neighborhood, complete with an elementary school at end of our cul-de-sac creating a warm homey setting.

We are not affiliated with any hospital but have great working relationships with many of the hospitals in our area as well as specialized hospitals in the South Florida area.
