The Oaks at Waterman Village

I visited The Oaks at Waterman Village. I liked the apartments a lot, but they were pricey. The one-bedroom I liked, you have to give them a life lease fee of $196,000 plus a monthly service fee of $3,800, and I don't want to do that. I don't want to buy in. I just want to make a rent payment, basically. The staff who accommodated me was very good. We weren't scheduled to go to lunch, but I said I wanted to try their food, so she took us to lunch there. The food was very good. I really liked that place.

The Oaks at Waterman Village in Mt Dora was the perfect place for my parents to retire. They moved to the community 12+ years ago. Mom lived there another 10 years after my dad passed. She had a wonderful villa with an outdoor bird-watching space and a beautiful garden with her favorite plants. The two-bedroom offered space for our out-of-town family to visit, a fully equipped kitchen, and a covered space for her car. She loved the convenience of shopping, her church, and her local family. Community activities, home health care, and friendly faces, both staff and management, were available when needed. It was a wonderful place to make friends and live your best life.

The Oaks at Waterman Village is the one that I like the best. I was very impressed with it. It's huge. I like the units because they have a full kitchen and washers and dryers. Most of the ones I looked at do not have washers and dryers in their rooms. I have dogs, and at The Oaks at Waterman Village, you're in your own little home and all kinds of grass and woods are behind you. So it's much simpler with dogs if you just have to walk out your back door for them. They have two pools, a fitness center, and a chapel where they have nondenominational service. There's a bridge that goes from one side of the road to the other side, which is amazing to me because it doesn't matter where you live, you can use both sides. They have one dining room that is very exclusive if you want something very special that day. They have quite a big library, and they have rooms where you can do crafting and play cards. They have card rooms and pool tables. They have just about everything. And on the outside of Waterman Village, there are all kinds of doctor's offices. They don't belong to the village, but they're right there if you need something. Also, if you need to go to a doctor's appointment and you don't feel like you could drive yourself, they have shuttles that they take you. They also have shuttles that go to different places like Publix or maybe Walmart. Another thing I like about The Oaks at Waterman Village is that they have covered carports for every unit. You just have to pull up right in front of your door and get out. It just was nice.

I toured The Oaks at Waterman Village. They've got a new section that is very much apartment living with all amenities. In the older section, I would be more inclined to go into it because their facilities are duplex housing with a carport. I will also be able to walk my dogs easily. They have dining facilities that allow you to get involved with your meal plan or choose what you want. Some people can choose one meal a day or two meals a day. The food is wonderful. The staff was pleasant, friendly, and young. They have a nice library. They have a nice community center. They have a club if you want to join all kinds of card games. They got pickleball, shuffleboard, nice swimming facilities, Yoga instruction, and exercise, pretty much anything anyone might want.

I visited The Oaks at Waterman Village. The tour guide, Cheryl, gives an excellent tour. She was very understanding, kind, and patient. She even took us to lunch there and she answered all our questions. They have a beautiful dining room and the staff was friendly. The food is excellent.

Oaks at Waterman Village was very good. Because of the COVID, we can't go into the nursing and assisted living home so we had to take a virtual tour for those. We were able to get into one model, they have construction on a new site and since no one can see those, you'd also have to take a virtual tour for those places. They had 4-5 different models and they were nice, there was one vacant so we were able to look at that one; it's about 1100 square feet.
