My mother was at Mayfield Retirement Center. It's not the newest place, but the staff was very nice. They took care of the residents. They have private rooms and rooms for two people. They do their best with what they have, and it wasn't that expensive compared to other places. It wasn't the Taj Mahal, but it is good for someone seeking if somebody has a hard time. They brought in some new furniture for her and stuff like that. We got what we paid for. They got a new chef there. Some bathrooms are private, some are shared with the other room next to it, and the showers are separate. They have people in wheelchairs. She had her own room; it was small, and it just had a bed and a dresser. They play bingo and sing. They'll do whatever you want to do, but they don't go out. There is no shopping, nothing like that, but if somebody comes by and wants to take the residents out, they can take them out. My mom complained about the food, but she was very old. The other people didn't seem to have a problem with it. They'll make whatever you want. If you need a special thing, they'll take care of it. They have doctors and nurses come in. It's an older place, but they do very well with it. It was good value for the money.

Everything about them was great. They got activities and nice rooms that were just the perfect size for what my mom is looking for. Everybody was very pleasant and friendly. Amanda was very nice, too. At the time I was there, they had a group of residents in a large room. They were all watching a movie together and were getting ready for lunch. There were also some people spending time in their room, but quite a few were out, mingling around. The common spaces were good as well.

My grandmother is here. She is adjusting tremendously and becoming more independent. When she went in there, she used a wheelchair. Now she's using a walker to go to the dining room. She just made a hundred per cent turnaround. She's doing really well and she likes the activities. She shares a room with another lady, but it is very big and very spacious. She seems to like the food. The whole staff is very kind and caring. They help her make some changes and go around more. They help her take care of herself better with her physical and personal hygiene.

My mom has been here for three months now. We chose this facility because it's closer to us and they are more family-oriented. The place has a homey feel in it. The staff are warm, friendly, and very helpful. I think mom is happy with where she is right now.
