Nursing Home Reviews for Consulate Health Care of Bayonet Point

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother has been at Consulate Health Care of Bayonet Point since mid-September. My father is there right now as well. I’m not happy with it, but we can’t afford to place her in a better place. It’s a horrible facility. It has roaches, and the food is horrible. I would never recommend it, but it’s where they have to do their rehab. She’s immobile and bedridden, and she also has dementia, so rather than put her in a place where she’ll have limited care, she has round the clock care. Some of the nursing staff is really wonderful. Some of the things that could be improved would be perhaps feeding the elderly people and the people in the rehab with better food. Nutritious food is good, but if it doesn’t taste good, and it’s not appealing, people aren’t going to eat it. They need to keep the place cleaner, and they need to have staff that’s not overworked. You shouldn’t have people working 17 to 18 hours a day because you have people there that need constant care that are not getting it.

Average response time when you press the Nurse button is 30 minutes;which is not good if you fell out of bed like my mother did. Dinner is served ice cold every night and sometimes an hour late because the kitchen staff all disappeared. The place is over crowded and severely understaffed. The curtains in my mother's room had reddish brown stains on them. It could use a fresh coat of paint and some new furniture.

My husband is at Consulate Health Care which is a rehab place. So far, we’re happy with them. I think that the nurses and their aides are doing very well with my husband. They are very helpful and good to him, and they treat me with a lot of respect. The food is not the best. I could almost walk there; I’m 80 years old, so it worked well for me to visit him twice a day. If I could afford it, it would be fine for him to stay there.

She's got round the clock care at Consulate Health Care of Bayonet Point. She was put back there from the hospital because she's complaining her legs gave out. It's clean, and they're pretty neat there. They took good care of her; she got everything she needs. But, she tells me that she has to wait for people to come and do things for her. I said she just has to be patient, and I know she isn't. I've seen her room and her apartment before. It got a bathroom and bed, TV, phone, and Internet cable. They gave her meals in there. I've been in the dining room. They get served there. It's pretty good. They have an exercise room, and they help her do exercises.
