This is one of the most depressing places I have ever visited. The facility is filthy. Residents look sad and depressed. So do employees. This place should be shut down. I can’t see anything good about it other than a friendly receptionist.

My mother is a long term resident of this facility. I visit her regularly at various times of the day. The nursing and medical staff are excellent and the CNAs are very compassionate and caring. I have recommended the center to several friends. All have been happy with the care their loved ones received. The housekeeping staff also does a great job keeping the facility clean. I will continue to recommend Lake Eustis Health and Rehab to others.

This review is pointed towards therepy only at this time. My husband had a below the knee amputatation almost 3 weeks ago and was told to get on a bicycle and pedal it. And he is the Resident Council Prsidebt and was told because he wouldn't do the therepy that he would be fired. Somebody anybody please tell me how you can ride a bicycle with one leg???? I will be talking to the Supervisor over this Department Ms. Connor. I need some questions anwsered. And not only has he had right leg amputation a little under 3 weeks, the left feet has a legion on it. Now I need to know how do therepy staff expect my husband to ride a bicycle and cop an attitude when he says he's not.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Father was there for 20 days in March/April 2015. First the positives: The OT and PT staff are excellent. They were respectful, diligent, and helpful with suggestions and their prognosis. Front desk staff are very helpful. For the most part, the day staff have good attitudes and are caring. The negatives: Night nurses and CNAs do not follow protocols set in place for patients. Father had issues staying in bed due to high anxiety and delirium. Had recently had back surgery and was made to sit in a wheelchair at the nurses station from midnight to 6 AM. Protocol was to take a staffer off the floor to sit with patient and it was disregarded. One morning when family went in at 6 AM and they didn't know where he was. He was on patio in bare feet. His medicine was incorrectly given twice and made a huge set back for his recovery. He is a vegetarian and a night nurse gave him two ham sandwiches and he threw up the entire next day. She didn't check his chart. Food was awful. It took them a week to upgrade him to mechanical soft even though the hospital had done a swallow test on him the morning he was transferred. He had several bruises that were not explained. Response times for staff was anywhere from 10-45 minutes. One CNA continued to say, "Go peepee so I can change your diaper," though he could go to the rest room with assistance. It was easier for them so they wanted him to go in his brief. We went through formal channels with facility to correct issues and some were resolved and some weren't. Filed formal complaint with ombundsman. If you have to leave a loved one at this facility, be diligent, watch their medication, be present and make sure the staff knows about your loved one. We advocated for my father and it was still a horrible experience. We wanted basic, safe, care and sometimes he got it, and sometimes he didn't. They say they are a five star facility, but I'd give the PT/OT staff a 5 stars, and the rest a 2.

The facility that my husband is in is Lake Eustis. It is a good facility, and I'm very happy. The employees are all very nice and cordial. They greet you when you come in. I have not had any problems whatsoever. I would recommend them highly to anyone. It is a very well managed facility. I eat lunch with my husband there every day, and the food is very good. He has Alzheimer's so he doesn't really participate, but they do have many activities for the residents. They have bingo, and for Mardi Gras they had a party for the residents. They had a senior come in and play tunes. They do have a lot of activities. I highly recommend Lake Eustis.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My grandparents have been in this nursing home for 2 years. There have been several issues with this facility concerning administration (not nursing staff), but we had decided to keep them there due to their conditions (relocating them would not be beneficial do to my grandfathers dementia and grandmothers many health problems). Recently my grandmother had passed. I am completely disgusted with how Lake Eustis has handled this situation. They have been completely insensitive to this situation as it pertains to my grandfather. They have taken advantage of his condition and I feel it has been a mental abuse. They went to him with information that they did not discuss first with his POA and the rest of his family. Do to this facilities poor management, disregard for protocols and lack of compassion, my grandfather is now beyond upset and confused (which they are treating by increasing his sedatives) This is not the first time my family has had issues with Lake Eustis Care Center. They only care about their bottom line do a extremely poor job of pretending otherwise. I will say that some of the nursing staff is excellent and do genuinely care about their patience, but they too are disregarded and abused by the administration. My advice would be to find a better facility.

Lake Eustis Care Center came very highly recommended to us by the nurses at the hospital where my mother-in-law was. We went over there and looked at it and we were impressed. First of all, when you walk in, it does not smell. We saw several of the patients that were in the hall and every one of them that we asked was telling us how much they like it. Most of the staff there seems very good though I'm not particularly fond of their head nurse.
