Silverado Beach Cities is great. The care is excellent. They're very welcoming and very helpful. Anything you need, they're there to do it. It's very nice. My husband is in a shared room. He has a big armoire for his clothes and a nice bed with his own comforter on it (he's in hospice, so he has a hospital bed). They work together with the hospice people. It's very seamless. They're excellent and very friendly.

We loved Silverado Beach Cities. It's clean, nice, and well decorated. The room was OK, but it wasn't our main criteria. It was a shared room, and we were kind of skeptical of that, but they say that's the way to go. They say it's even better than a single room, they convinced us of that. And we're going to try it out and see. The staff member was great, very wonderful. She was very knowledgeable, very well-spoken, and she's been there for a long time. She moved up through the ranks. I think she's the manager of the whole place. They have painting, gardening, and lots of activities.

Silverado Beach Cities is a memory care facility. My dad's only been there for a couple of days and right now he's on the first floor, but he can move if need be to other levels (they have four different levels). It is a locked facility and they got nice meal choices (we got to meet the chef). The staff is awesome. The caregivers seem very nice. They all have been very, very, very kind. They only have shared rooms (that was probably the only thing that we weren't thrilled about), but they have a lot of activities to keep the residents very engaged and very active. They have exercise classes and they're constantly doing brain activities with daily puzzles, crafts, and even made cinnamon rolls one day when we were going in. They also have a cooking class, movie nights, and dancing where people come in with music. They have a very nice outside patio. One day they set up a basketball hoop and they were out there playing basketball.

I loved Silverado Beach Cities and their whole concept. They're on my list of possibilities. It's great, it's just a little pricey, we couldn't afford that one. They gave us a book to read by the people who came up with the whole concept. They have their own concepts for memory care and what they do, which I thought was very interesting, and how much research they've done into it. And they're all accommodating as far as my mother who is currently in Texas with her husband who's sick. Silverado was the only one that comes furnished where all the others don't, which is OK. That was close to my house. They are very advanced as far as memory care and the research, the book that they provided me is great, and how they engage with the people that have different scales of memory care. They take them out on a bus and go to places, so they do keep them engaged, and not just sitting in their rooms. I liked that. They also had memory boxes outside each of the residents' rooms so they could put things about themselves. That was very clever and gave you insight into each resident, also they could find their rooms easily by the memory boxes. The staff was very informative.

Silverado is an amazing memory care facility. On each floor is a small community of residence who suffer from dementia or other memory impairment at various levels of these cruel diseases. The staff creates such a lovely family environment. Each member from administration, nurses, caregivers, food and laundry service to reception know each resident by name and know how to connect with them. In my father's case, it is not an easy task because he suffers from Lewybody dementia, (a form or Parkinson's and Dementia) but somehow they manage to make him laugh and smile. The staff is warm, respectful, kind and loving with the residents even when they are unaware that you’re watching. They are happy and caring by nature. I do not have the skills necessary to properly care for my father. Silverado provides the "loving family" environment and well-trained staff that my brothers and I cannot. They encourage family visits. Family members are always welcome at any hour. Meals with your loved one are complimentary. The staff is very communicative. Questions and phone calls are promptly return and staff is always available. We wanted to give my father the same safe lovely environment he and my mother gave us growing up. We found it in Silverado.

Silverado Beach Cities was a hospital which was converted into a residence for people with dementia and Alzheimer's, and the whole place was a bit more institutional. They had activities like live music and they seemed quite engaged with their residents. The staff seemed good. The dining area seemed OK and the place was clean.

The nicest place I visited was Silverado Beach Cities. It was very nice, but it was also three times the price that I could pay. I went in the office and talked to a very nice lady who seemed genuinely concerned. I told her I couldn’t afford the price, but she gave me some information on other places. The rooms were very nice. I’d looked at the rooms in the past because they are in the building that I go to for other business. While they were converting the place, before anybody was living there, I had looked at the rooms in the facility, and they were very impressive. They had lots of activities. They had a wide variety of clientele. The staff was very nice and very helpful. Silverado was first-class. Everything looked first-class. It looked like a very nice hotel.

At Silverado Beach Cities, they had a separate area where you can take your family member to their cafeteria with a made-to-order menu. You just tell the cook what you want, and he makes it for you. The facility is more inclusive. You pay one price that includes a lot of things, and that part was nice; however, they were the most expensive one. Their single rooms were double the price of a single room at other places. I liked the lady who gave us the tour. Their staff looked very nice and attentive to the residents.

My mom has been in Silverado. They are topnotch. It is a beautiful facility with a beautiful dining area, but has horrible care. She was there off and on for a few months until I couldn't take the neglect. The staff was neglectful. She would come home, and she won't even have her diaper on. It was just ridiculous. Regardless, I will never go back there. It looks exceptional, and the rooms are beautiful, but they are very neglectful.

I have already placed my mother at Silverado Beach Cities. My mother has Alzheimer's and that’s all they do. It’s 100% memory care. It’s excellent. They don’t believe in putting the person in a room by themselves, so they all have roommates. They feel that they need the engagement of interacting with others. It has really surprised me because she has absolutely loved and been very, very comfortable and is flourishing there. She has gained weight. She is engaged all the time, and they constantly keep them active. My mother is participating in things now that I would have never thought she would have ever done. She is always telling me how much she loves the place and how much she loves the people, and they care about her. They do a lot of exercises where they’re painting, they’re spelling, they’re reading stories, and they also have musical interludes. They’ll bring in an artist where they’ll play guitar, and they have an opportunity for her to sing, dance, engage. I think they should tell more people about it. I found it through word of mouth, and I wish I would have known about it sooner. I don’t think they really advertise much.

Silverado ay Redondo Beach was clean, no smell of anything and welcoming. They had more outdoor area, dogs were there for petting, they had cooking class for the residents and a lot more went on. The rooms were spacious too. I liked that they made you feel welcome and there was a view of the water which gave a cool atmosphere. They could just sit and relax. I would surely recommend this place.

The Silverado is an assisted living facility that offers the full range of services: Day Care, Overnight Care, Respite Care, full service Residential Care PLUS and In-Home Care Agency with full evaluation and case management. I am the primary caregiver for my 95-year-old mother, who has moderate to severe dementia, in her home. When I became ill a year ago, I used the Silverado for 6 weeks while I recuperated, hire extra help before I was able to bring her back home. Now I take her back to the Silverado for Flex-Care [Adult Day Care] once a week to give her the socialization she lacks with the in-home care. The staff are all delightfully positive, sensitive, cheerful and gentle and skilled in the art of redirection [which I am not]. This day care option keeps me sane! She has become one of their "family" and so there is nothing to do but sign her in, kiss her good-bye and say that I'll see her at 6:00! It gives me 9 hours to myself! She gets to bake cookies or crepes, exercise, get her hair done, etc -- whatever activities have been planned for the day for the full-time residents. She has all her meals, snacks and a place to rest. I provide the meds and instructions and a change of clothing for accidents [which have not materialized because of the toileting schedule]. I plan to keep her at home until she dies so I am very grateful to have these options available--PLUS they have Support Groups I can participate in!

I never thought I would need to visit a place like Silverado. Now that I have and spend time there visiting my mother I want you to know how grateful and relieved I feel to know that the caregivers and stuff are so helpful, caring and wonderful. They are a great help ot only to the resident but to the entire family and friends.

I liked the cozyness of this facility because as soon as you walk in you feel at home. The facility is clean and has friendly staff greeting you and asking if you need help with whatsoever. They have different activities to keep the clients busy and their food menu is very healthy and yet looks so delightful. They have sufficient staff to help their clients in their daily needs and transportation to bring clients to wherever they need to go to.

My relative used the adult day care offered here two or three times a week for the last year or so. She looked forward to going there and seemed to thrive on the constantly changing activities, the beautiful surroundings and great food. We tried a couple of overnight stays, and that seemed to go well. Several months ago our family started to feel pressured by Silverado management to make the transition to full time resident, even though my relative was still highly functioning. After we did a multiple night stay to give our caregiver some rest, our relative seemed very tramatized and would go into a tail spin if the name Silverado was even mentioned. She told us that male attendants were bathing her (true we found out...you must specifically request a female attendant). There were other stories that left us cold and confused. Before this unfortunate experience, I had read the Silverado owners best selling book, The Silverado Story, and had completely bought into the concept that they were different from other dementia care facilities and that they really understood dementia patients. I have just found out that Silverado has been bought out by a REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust). This may explain why our family's experience with Silverado abruptly changed. They are also undergoing personnel restructuring/layoffs in all their facilities, which may explain why management was so intent on converting my relative from adult day care to permanent resident. The last months have been trial and error as our family moved on to find new accommodations. I am happy to report that we now have an in-home caregiver who is working out beautifully and my relative is still happily in their own home.

This facility is located in a residential area about a half a mile from the beach. Silverado is like the Rolls Royce of assisted living facilities. It's luxurious and they pamper the residents a lot. They allow them to have pets too, which is not true at all facilities. There's a big parking lot outside. The grounds are spacious and very pretty. There's nice landscaping. They don't accept Medical or Medicare "“ it's for the richest of the rich. They also have hospice in the same facility. The common areas are medium-sized and very nice and luxurious. The residents stay in their own rooms, which are very spacious and accommodating. The staff is really professional and really takes care of the residents. They have a nurse and a social worker that work there. A lot of the residents, maybe 85 or 90%, have dementia or Alzheimer's. The staff is really well-trained to deal with dementia. I didn't eat the food, but the cafeteria looked pretty nice. They plan lots of activities for the residents. They have a lockdown unit for the dementia and Alzheimer's patients, and everything is all scheduled for the residents. The residents play Bingo and exercise and watch movies, and things like that. There's no money spared there "“ they charge a lot of money, but I think they have everything anyone could want in an assisted living facility. I've been to many facilities, and this one is really the best.
