My friend is in Chateau La Jolla Inn. The staff is kind and considerate for the most part. The food is tasty. The place is kept clean, organized, and updated periodically. Her room is beautiful, and she's got an ocean view. She likes it, and she's comfortable. It serves all of her needs. The layout is pretty. I like the fact that it's by the ocean. Right now, with COVID, they have no activities. They are locked down pretty much. They occasionally have poetry readings, but they're sparsely attended. When they were doing activities, she really liked it.

I chose Chateau La Jolla Inn, it's a block from the beach, and everything about it was okay. The staff is good, the rooms were all nice, and had been redone. They had quite a few activities, they had courtyards, a library, a gym, but the swimming pool was not big, and looked like a therapy pool. They had meals, the community is beautiful, and it's close to the downtown area.

We chose Chateau La Jolla, and everything we've encountered so far has been great. The staff was polite and courteous, and seems to meet my father's needs. He will be in independent living and we like that he doesn't have to move to another unit or another building, and he could have a nurse or even hospice come in if he needs it. And that's one of the selling point that made us decide on it. They have a world-class chef that caters to the clients' needs as far as any food, dietary restrictions, and things like that. Also, if you have a favorite food, they're very flexible, and open in trying to meet what you or your family members want. It's a smaller and more intimate community. They have a happy hour on Thursday nights and a champagne brunch on Sundays. They have this little red button in the different rooms that you can push if you fall. You think they'd make it a big red honking thing so you wouldn't miss it, especially for elderly clients. But it's small and if you fall and can't get over to it, so that's a little concerning.

The Chateau is nice, it’s less expensive, but it doesn’t have as many activities. It’s a very nice choice for independent living, it’s right downtown La Jolla, and it's near the ocean.

The Chateau La Jolla is a multi-story series of buildings. They have all sorts of things that they do every day; they have exercises, music classes, a happy hour with music on Thursdays, and it was very nice. Their dining area is called the Normandy Room, and it was quite nice. They have lots of choices; the dining room was great.
