"My siblings and I recently moved my parents from the east coast and we couldn't be happier with this facility. My mother, who was very active, had a severe stroke and would need long term skilled nursing care. My father, who is semi-independent would need a facility where he could easily visit her and have meals and activities provided for him. We found both and more at White Sands and have less worry that their care needs would change and we would need to move them again and face more difficult decisions. The skilled nursing staff are extremely caring, attentive, friendly and I am told their staff turnover is very low. The location is beyond lovely being right on the beach and in beautiful La Jolla - it is rare to find a skilled nursing facility where you can enjoy fresh ocean breezes, beautiful views instead of recycled stale air. There is a limo that can drive independent residents to local doctor appointments and errands, which has been wonderful for my father who no longer drives. The facility is currently being remodeled and will be even more lovely when they are finished. The residents are very friendly and welcoming, the staff go out of their way to know you and provide wonderful service. Meals are fresh and healthy, and visiting family can all enjoy the main dining room together with both of our parents and a beautiful ocean view. Finding White Sands was a huge blessing to our family, knowing that our parents are well taken care of and that we were able to keep them together after a traumatic family event."

"Vi at La Jolla Village is definitely first-class. The rooms and the dining room are excellent. They have a health facility there where they take care of you as your health deteriorates. "

"I really liked them. The caretakers have done a really good job. My mother wears a pendant that has a push button. When she clicks it all the nurses and the staff members get an alert and they're there within two to three minutes. It gives me peace of mind that she's being well taken care of when I can't be there. She's in a studio, and it's like a dorm where everyone's within the same building. They're not separate structures, there's no outside entrance, and they have one- and two-bedroom options. They do scenic drives to the beach, she plays bingo, they have cards, speakers come in, there's exercise classes, a movie theater, beauty salon, library, computers, and a garden."

"Merrill Gardens at Bankers Hill was very nice. The lady who escorted us around was really great, very nice, and very knowledgeable. I liked the color scheme and felt very comfortable with the way it was laid out. It had a good vibe when I walked in. They had all kinds of activities and a calendar of activities with cards and bingo. They had different people come out for lectures on different things. "

"I have been to La Costa Glen because I've had friends there, and I'm familiar with it because I also stayed in their skilled nursing facility after I had my hip surgery. They have a very good skilled nursing service. My friends who live there take me to their apartments, but I'm not considering moving there because it's too expensive, they take over $1,000,000. The rehab experience was excellent. It was during COVID, which made it difficult, but the staff was excellent, the food was excellent, and everything was excellent. They had a double room with a big curtain in between, but I ended up in a single room because the other bed wasn't filled. They had little get-togethers and sing-alongs, these people weren't in the best shape so they can't do a lot. But they had a lot of activities, and they give you a basket with some stuff, and you can do things where you sit down. The rooms at the main facility were good, they were huge and they have fairly room cottages. They also had a long waiting list. My friends that are there are all very happy."
