My sister was placed at Whitney Oaks Care Center. It's a very nice place. I liked that when I first came in the door you must sign in. There's a machine and you have to sign in and put the person's name. Then I talked to the receptionist at the front desk, and they directed me to my sister's room and showed me where she was. I went in there and I talked to my sister. I also got a little look at the area, and where she was at is very clean and neat. The staff there are very nice, and they're concerned. They contact me whenever there's a question or something that they need to know as far as information regarding my sister. They inform me of what's taking place, like any type of medical procedure or whatever. So they're very good with those. The building is very nice, too. They have a nice big area with a few benches out there where you can get sunlight. It's very spacious outside. They have parking at the back and on the side of the building. My son took me there, we parked in the back, and it was a nice little walk from where we parked to get to the front.

My brother is in Whitney Oaks Care Center, which is a small community. I like the staff, particularly the physical therapy and occupational therapy staff. Theres a variety of CAN levels of care; some are very good, some are average, but a small amount of them are not good, especially the night shift. The food is really good. They have a dietician and individualize each patient. The meal time could be arranged to depend on whether the resident would want to go to the dining room or if hed have it in his room. They have a variety of activities, but they keep repeating themselves and dont individualize activities.

My 91yo father-in-law came to Whitney Oaks for post surgical rehab. He developed an infection ignored by doctors and staff and after three weeks a visitor— NOT staff — noticed he was in distress. He was rushed to hospital in Septic shock from a UTI and close to death. Please! Do not send a loved one to this nightmare of a facility.

I think the care is OK, at least my brother said so, but trying to reach someone by phone is a nightmare. First get someone while on hold, then transfer to someone else, all the time on hold, ask for the room, told one time that there are phones in the room, told the next time that there are portable phones and someone has to walk to the room. I do not understand why calls are not directed to the rooms. If someone is out of their room, it will ring and nobody will answer of course, but one shouldn't have to jump through all those hoops to contact their relative since phone calls are a connection that the people in these facilities need. The on hold time tells about all the modern conveniences that Whitney Oaks offers, but the phone system is ghastly and should be upgraded to somebody calls the switchboard, asks for the room number, and is put through to the room. It's not rocket science.

My dad (85 yo) was sent here for ehab from a stroke, transfer from VA hospital. Pre-approved for 51 days with VA/Medicare, but WOCC trying to discharge him after only 21 days even tho his condition has barely improved. Pushing our family to move him prematurely to LTC facility even tho his doctors disagree. Don't put your family through this!
