Assisted Living Communities in Lake Geneva, WI

"My dad moved in here. It is superb. It’s also close to my brother. They have a Bridge group, they have nice speakers that would come in on various topics, they have special dinners to which they invite family, and even candlelight dinners on special events."

"I had a nice tour of Bickford of Crystal Lake. I enjoyed the information that was provided, and Kathleen was very professional and very detailed. Everything was great. The rooms were different sizes, for different areas it was different sizes and they were nice sizes. The atmosphere was very secure and nurturing. I was going to reschedule to try a meal there. My grandmother loved church and singing, so they had something like that, they have a gardening option available, so all options were available. It just depends on the individual and their preference."

"We like Robin Way. It's a smaller facility. It seemed more personable because of the size. The facility was clean. I have two parents going in, and they only had a studio apartment available. It was just too small for two people, but for one person, it would have been perfect. The rooms were clean. They were in the process of upgrading the entire facility. It all looked very nice, modern, and efficient. The person who gave us the tour was a very pleasant person, outgoing, and knowledgeable. She had been there for quite a few years. One thing I liked about Robin Way is that a lot of the employees had longevity there. They had been there for years, which is unusual in an assisted living facility. They have bingo, poker, music, singing, and different people coming in. They stressed that they have a lot of volunteers who come in to help with some of these activities, which is nice. It was nice and open when you first came in. They had a nice patio area."

"The care is excellent. Food is homemade and delicious. "

"I went to Autumn Leaves of Gurnee and they have mailboxes and mirrors to direct them back to their rooms if they happen to get lost. They have an outside garden. The facility was great. The staff was wonderful and took the time to give me a tour and explain and give me a lot of information. They have assisted care, but I went to see the memory care for respite care or daycare."

"My mother moved into Bickford Of Gurnee. I think the staff is excellent. They are caring and responsive. I'm really happy with the things that the staff does. They have outings. Recently, they went out for pizza and then to the Forest Preserve. They do a lot of group puzzles and they've got some exercise classes. Her room is very clean and well-maintained."

"Harmony Living Center is a smaller facility. The level of care is a little bit higher than most assisted living facilities. The people are very helpful and very welcoming for my dad. They would come and respond very quickly to a call button. They do offer activities. The staff are very open and very approachable if you need help with anything. The residents seems to be more open and ready to talk to people that would come into the facility. The rooms are good, too. But the food could be better. "

"There are three different types and they are all very spacious choices. They provide three meals per day, and the males are all made on the premises by an experienced chef. They have many different activities for residence and to keep their mind active and their hands busy Staff is very friendly and loving and caring about each and every resident. I really enjoyed my visit! It will be my first choice for when my mom is ready."

"We toured Theresa's Home Care LLC 1. It was very nice. It seemed very clean. It's a home. It's not like an institution. It's not like a facility, so it's homey, and you get that homey feeling. We only really met with Teresa. There were some nurses there, and the dietary people were there, but we didn't meet them. Teresa was very nice, very welcoming, and warm. They do home-cooked meals. We saw them setting the tables and preparing, because it was getting ready to be dinner time. Their outdoor area was beautiful, with a lot of lawn. They had a recreational area downstairs on that first level where they do bingo or card games, puzzles, and things like that. It's like a mansion. I mean, there's like seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms. It's beautiful. The rooms are shared with patients, and I'm not necessarily saying I like that. There is no option for a private room."

"I really liked the Oak Park Place. It was light, bright, and new. It's only a couple of years old, so the hallways are wide. Everything was lighter and brighter décor. There were lots of sunlight. We only met with one staff member, but she was very nice, very knowledgeable, and very helpful. It appeared very clean, light, bright, and there's a dining room on each level. The rooms were nice and roomy. There's plenty of space. The dining room opened to the outside as well, and that was nice. They have an activity center, salon, exercise center, and a big activity room when they have speakers or musicians."

"It was a very good facility. My mother in law passed away there. She was a little bit of a stubborn person, but they were really patient with her. They really tried to do anything and everything for her. They were there for her when she needed them. The staff was very sincere and very compassionate. I was very satisfied and very happy. Whenever I was there, they were working with her, trying to help her. The place is very homey, warm, nice and comfortable, and they kept it very clean. "

"I like the one where my mother is. She is at Arbor Village. Right at the moment, she is still trying to settle in. She is 99-1/2, and she isn't always 100% happy with the food. However, they seem to have quite a few activities. She doesn't participate in all of them, but she does do her morning stretch almost everyday. She does do some of their other activities. It's an adjustment when you go from your home, to the hospital, to the rehab, and then going to assisted living, so I can't blame her for that. However, I would recommend this facility. The owner is right there; his office is right in the facility. They have two other facilities. They have two senior apartment buildings, and they also have a memory unit. The people were very nice, and I like the fact that the owner is right there, and if you have a problem, he is right on it. The facility is very clean too. "

"My parents are in Walnut Grove. The members of the staff there are not very well-trained but they try. They really don't do anything to try and engage Alzheimer's patients. They just pretty much make sure that the patients are fed and get their medicine. It's not a really great facility but it's all we could afford. Their rooms are decent-sized. They have a bathroom in it but it only has a toilet and sink. There's a community shower in my parents' wing. The location is very pretty. They have a few sitting areas, a piano and a TV viewing area. I wouldn't sit there though because too many people pee in their pants. It's not altogether that good of a place. The food is good. They have a big open dining room with a lot of tables. They also have what they call music therapy. A lady comes in and plays the guitar or the piano and they sing old songs. I would recommend this facility only if you can't afford anything else. "

"Atrium Senior Living was excellent and our top alternative if my mom was going to move to the Williams Bay area. The place was beautiful and looked almost new, but there wasn't much grounds or location. Nevertheless, the care was amazing. The facilities were new. The rooms were nice, big, and a reasonable price. There were different physical activities and some movies. The food looked good, too. The staff members were very helpful and very personable. If we were to make a move, Atrium Senior Living is where we'll go."
